Based on the rumours that IGN also published last month regarding Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo not attending E3, we drew up a report surmising why Nintendo would skip E3 altogether.
However, the ultimate explanation that was offered up by the Japanese gaming giant was much simpler:
It was originally thought that Nintendo would back out of E3 simply because it didn’t have enough major releases to promote at the convention. It’s now assumed that if anything does need to be revealed by Nintendo in the coming months, such as a new Nintendo Switch console, it’ll be done at a Nintendo Direct event. We approach our involvement in any event on a case-by-case basis and are always considering various ways to engage with our fans. Since this year’s E3 show didn’t fit into our plans, we have made the decision to not participate. However, we have been and continue to be a strong supporter of the ESA and E3.
E3 2023 is set to run from June 13th to June 16th, and you can expect full coverage from us regarding any announcements that take place during the show.
