[Nintendo Switch] List of Japanese Titles that Support Multiple Languages

Happy Switching!

Just thought I would compile a list of the Japanese titles that support multiple languages.

To check which languages are supported, scroll down the linked pages all the way to 対応言語 (supported languages).

Kanji for the languages:

日本語 Japanese
英語 English
スペイン語 Spanish
フランス語 French
ドイツ語 German
イタリア語 Italian
オランダ語 Dutch
ポルトガル語 Portuguese
ロシア語 Russian
韓国語 Korean
中国語 Chinese

131 out of the 164 Japanese store games support multiple languages, including English.

How much is Bomberman on the jp store?

Is it less than the ludicrous price they are charging in Australia?

I was having trouble earlier figuring out how to make a Japanese NNID, anybody know the best way to go about that? Also the easiest way to add eshop credit to an alt region would probably be good info to have

While I don't know the answer to the first one (maybe create a new account with a Japanese nnid?), according to multiple people you'd need to add prepaid Japanese eshop cards in order to buy things on the Japanese eShop.

Very easy. Go to accounts.nintendo.com. Create a new account with an email you didn't use before. Set the region to japan. Log into the account on your switch (make sure you have set up a new user for this). Set the region of your switch to japan. Log into the eshop and it works. The eshop will complain that the current language setting (english or whatever yours is) isn't supported and it will show the one it does (japanese). Once you are finished you can set the region of the switch back to the one you used before. The region of the switch is what decides what eshop is loaded.

Wait a minute... I can import a physical copy of I Am Setsuna and play it in English?!

So once the game is on your Switch system it doesn't matter which user account you use to play it?

So basically I would have to make a second account, and whenever I want to play these games I would have to switch over to that second account?

Is there a way to play Breath of the Wild in another language other than English but have English subtitles?
AFAIK There is no way to manually choose the language. When you load a game it will pick the language based on your system language.

I have bought Japanese Switch and Japanese Breath of the Wild and play in English, although I have to mess a bit because I play in Fahrenheit's :/

I had no idea Disgaea 5 already had English on the cart. I'll definitely import that this week instead of waiting until May.

Wonderful thread, thank you!

It's so easy to switch.
Sure, I just want to make sure I understand what I would be getting into. Which of these games would I not see in the future on the US shop if I just waited? The SNK games are coming over eventually, right?

The ones with English are all coming I'm pretty sure.

I'm really pleased with how easy it is to switch languages. You literally just pick the option, the system restarts, and bamzo. I'm playing Breath of the Wild in full Japanese on my Australian Switch, with my Australian cartridge, on my Australian Nintendo account; no fuss at all. Very un-Nintendo :p

5378yen.

You can get a physical copy from Amazon Japan, which ships internationally, for slightly less. It won't be available until the 7th, however.

Man, that's very nice.
Would be good to know, which one of these are available physically.

From the ones that support English and are currently released in Japan only:

Disgaea 5

I am Setsuna

So which one of these has a demo?

Dragon Quest Heroes I&II
Puyo Puyo Tetris
Snipperclips

Thanks for compiling this list, OP!

You're welcome!

wow new frontier days is right up in my alley. any reviews?

Here is the official page in English. It has some tutorials and videos.

It also says that the game is available in the European eShop. So you can search for reviews in English, I suppose.

Thanks for the kind comment!

Any idea what the inside of the case for I am Setsuna looks like?

Here you go!

You can also check this thread for more Japanese cases.

Yep, I am pleasantly surprise how easy it is. They have the language and region independent!

Also really pleased by the eShop account implementation, You can create one user for each major eShop and switch between them on the fly. Quite seamless!

I was mistaken. You can play a game bought on the Japanese e-store and play it with a European account and vice-versa.

When I say the switching between accounts is easy, I literally mean a single click.

To answer your other question, maybe Dragon Quest Heroes? It's kinda lame though, I don't really recommend it unless you have no other way to play them or are desperate for a portable version.

Isn't the region of the chosen user's Nintendo account what decides which regions eShop is loaded? I don't think you have to change the region of the console at all you have access to all the eShops.

Brilliant stuff. Being digital was the only thing holding me back from I am Setsuna and this has pushed me to finally order it. Can't wait!

So good to have region-free nintendo hardware again.

The one thing to keep in mind though is that it's likely that DLC support will still be only for the account you bought the game under or where the cart is from.

So if you buy a game from the Japanese eshop then play under European or US account, you might not be able to use Japanese DLC won that account and won't be able to use European DLC with Japanese eShop (or physical) game.

I am not 100% sure though so someone would have to test it out.

What do you mean? Can you change between Fahrenheit and Celsius manually or it depends on the region of your console?

I'd wager DQH doesnt have english because they had no space on the cart. Shame as I definitely would've imported.

Very much appreciate this thread OP. I hope this keeps updated regularly.

Really considering importing Disgaea 5 instead of waiting.

I was also fine with getting Setsuna digital until I read this list. Now really considering importing physical.

Region free Switch rocks.

So who has impressions on these neogeo games running on Switch?

Would like to hear this too. Especially KoF 98. Is it playable using the joy-cons or is the pro controller a necessity due to the d-pad?

I would imagine this same question would apply to Ultra Street Fighter 2 as well I guess.

Just set up my Japanese account and picked up Blaster Master Zero, Metal Slug 3, Vroom in the Night Sky. Loving how easy it is to switch regions.

For first party games it is chore because for Zelda it goes to
https://www.nintendo.co.jp/zelda/index.html
Which you then go to:
https://www.nintendo.co.jp/zelda/products.html
Which finally gives you a Link to:

If one were to buy it I'd use Ireland (to pay in € and still have English shop) as the country because £9 is currently about 5% more than €10.
