According to Nintendo‘s official patch notes, the update improves “system stability”, changes the location of the Bluetooth audio menu and lets players take screenshots while in the Nintendo Switch Online app.

Dataminer OatmealDome investigated further and found that version 15.0.0 also updates the firmware of the Pro Controller’s Bluetooth connection.

Nintendo’s official patch notes are as follows:

  • The location of the Bluetooth Audio menu within System Settings has moved.
  • Screenshots can be taken using the Capture Button while in the Nintendo Switch Online application found on the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.
    • Video capture is not supported.
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.
OatmealDome’s further findings include:

  • Handling for Ethernet adapters was moved to its own dedicated OS module
  • Pro Controller Bluetooth firmware was updated
  • Various error messages were added / changed
  • A pop-up was added for attempting to exceed the max headphone volume while the limiter is on
  • Swear word database updated for Mainland China
  • Time zone database updated
  • Australia and New Zealand privacy law text updated

Nintendo’s official patch notes are as follows:
  • We have added a Miiverse app, which is now accessible from the main menu. Selecting this will take you to a selection of MARIO WIIU's Miiverse posts, where he comments on the nice looking water in various games.
  • We added a submission form in the settings menu, where you can request achievement support. These requests go to an unmonitored email account, but we appreciate the feedback.
  • We launched the Prime Video app, but then removed it, as we realized this was ahead of our planned release timeline for new streaming apps, which is one every three years.

The Switch firmware has been updated to Version 15.0.1, but this one is a bit different from the usual update. This is a “rebootless” update, which means you don’t actually have to restart the console once the update is applied. This update should download to your Switch automatically.

No official patch notes are shared for rebootless updates, but we do know that this firmware version has tweaked the banned words list. New banned words were added, and the list was tweaked in order to make sure inoffensive text isn’t accidentally blocked.

I'll assume they're very loose on what defines a "swear" word.

And considering Switch doesn't even support chatting / texting, this feels like client-side censorship to me, so even if devs hold firm to their artistic integrity it sounds like Nintendo will just "backdoor" the censorship.

At least Nintendo isn't being slimey fucks like Ubisoft and just referring to China as a nebulous "Asian market" (aka when they censored R6 Siege). Call a pig a pig. Don't group all Asian countries into the one vile pot.

When you nickname a Pokemon, it uses the Switch GUI to type out the name. For example, you can't name them Sugartits, unfortunately. So there's that I guess.
