Microsoft Flight Simulator launches August 18 for PC

Thrustmaster released some accurate Airbus licensed throttles and sticks recently. Outside of that, it's a matter of how much you're willing to pay. My recent setup is a Thrustmaster Warthog throttle and stick at USD $500 or so. Premium+ quality, really heavy but won't slip. I hear good things about the X56 too.

X56 might be more price range, looks great but seemingly on back order 😑

I was going to wait on AMDs next gen CPUs and GPUs to come out to build a new computer to play this but it's looking like my i5-4570 and GTX970 will have to do for a while. Maxed out (I hope) 1080p here I come!
Are you bothered about unlocked framerates, or is 60fps enough for you?. I got a 2700X, motherboard, and 16gb of ram for £200, and at 60fps, the 2700X laughs at games, with a lot of games using only 20% cpu usage. Hell AC: Odyssey, which would 100% my 6700k at a stuttery 50-60fps, only uses 40-50% cpu usage at 60fps.

I need recommendations for prices peasants can afford. So less than $100 and I'm willing to go used if need be.

Any Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS will work well enough.

That being said, HOTAS mimic controls for military aircraft, so it's not exactly the most immersive solution. It is definitely a good functional one, tho.

The most amazing looking game ever. Last E3 debut was eye opening, but now knowing to size and scope of this game is truly astonishing.

I would say 60fps is enough for me but I'm waiting on the AM5 socket. I figure I can wait another year and build a new computer with core parts (motherboard, ram, etc.) that will be good to go for another 5 years. I can pop in a new GPU or CPU if I want or needs change.

I'm actually surprised it's coming out next month, I didn't expect it until the end of this year at the earliest.

this game is fucking stupid delicious

i only have a 1070 gpu and i7 5820k with 16 gb ram

maybe i can play this on the lowest settings and get 15 fps

Tag, you're it.
Answer my question above if you can buddy :messenger_beaming:

It's been around 3 months, can't really remember when exactly

What are your PC specs?

I'm on a laptop: SSD, i7 9750H, RTX 2070 & 16 GB RAM @ 1080p
The game isn't even maxed out in the screens, it's a mix between high/ultra and I'm getting 40 FPS in cities and 60/70+ elsewhere

You really don't want to play this on any console. You think you do, but you actually don't.
I would honestly remove these man. Your nickname is all over the screen, and while being kicked from the alpha now may not be as bad, it may negatively impact future alphas and betas since the Microsoft insider thing is common among all.

I know... it's just that I put myself in the place of people who are waiting for more information and visuals.
For my account, what will happen will happen :messenger_loudly_crying:

Nice, my PC falls in with a mix of Reccomended and Ideal. 1080p/60 shouldnt be much of a problem hopefully.

nope, it looks like it will be a problem

i am on the same boat

according to mr. kyoshi up there we're gonna get between 20-30 fps on medium settings, unless you are okay with that it's time for a new gpu and more ram

You missed the most important spec, which will be broadband throughput - 1 GBs will probably be ideal.

Nah 50mbit is listed under the ideal spec. 5mbit is minimum.

Well i already have a 2700X, and 32gb of ram. I 'only' have a 980ti and not a 2080. I think it depends what Reccomended and Ideal actual mean. I mean is Ideal 4k/60?, is Reccomended 1080p/60?

well, kyoshi ran his on a RTX 2070 on a 1080 res screen and got between 40-70 fps

so that tells me ideal spec is for 1080p

He was running a laptop though wasnt he?. If a desktop 2070 could only manage 40-70fps at 1080p, even 2 2080ti's in SLI wouldnt be able to produce that 4k/60 trailer!.

him playing it on a laptop is an interesting point, i don't know if there is big difference between laptops and pcs with the same specs

we'll have to just wait and look out for fps tests on youtube by people who have 970s, 1070s, 1080s+ and see how they perform on fs2020

There can be a huge difference between laptop and desktop parts. GPU's for example can literally be half as powerful with the laptop version.

me: how much ram?
ms flight simulator: YES

I can't wait to have no idea what I'm doing when this launches and I frisbee my plane off the end of every runway.

What does wing strike mean? It keeps saying danger, is that a bad thing?

Who here has a $10,000+ gaming rig? Stream it so that a console peasant as I can see Flight Simulator at its full glory.
I have a super rig for less than 10k. Good enough for you?

Well, thats something you don’t see a lot. Not even the heaviest games

I am fine though, got no problem running it on ultra.

I’m glad they went all out. They’re heavy specs now but in a couple of years when expensive tech trickles down it’ll give the game new life to people upgrading.

Still no word on VR support unfortunately.

My PC is bang on the ideal spec so looking forward to it.

What time is it?
I'll buy a Series X for you Flight SIm. Doesn't appear there are any pre-order bonuses so I can wait for the Series X release and some price drops. Game looks amazing.

I really want VR support on this game, how Asobo leveraged the cloud to do this is beyond anything I could see happening in the next 10 years. Absolutely breathtaking and MS needs to acquire them ASAP.

The technology is absolutely impressive.. I wonder if I can fly over my house, curious as to what I will see.

A lot of people that have gone in to try the game before release have done what you are describing and have seen their house.

The game uses satellite map data as the base for what you see in-game. So if our house was in the map data it should be in the game. I'm sure small details like facias and fences will be off, but when you're looking at a 1:1 recreation of the Earth I might let a few things slide.

So I'm still excited...

but FYI some people are supposedly breaking NDA on reddit to give impressions and honestly they're not all great. The most worrying issue is the flight model being poor. Granted there's still time to fix it but i'd say it would be wise to keep expectations in check. That said, some of you noobs who don't otherwise play fight sims very often might not even notice a difference.

Don't serve a load of FUD and leave without the details. What exactly is wrong with the flight model?

I wonder how playable this will be with just the xbone controller and keyboard. Either way I have gamepass until 2022 so I will be definitely testing it.
