have you ever played Metal Slug 3 without infinite lives? yeah... if you do you'll know it's not perfect. like many arcade games it is designed to eat quarters ;)

it's great but far from perfect.

the only, truly perfect game, I can think of from the top of my head might be Dark Souls 3, I can't think of anything to criticize it for that wouldn't be highly subjective.
it has very thoughtful Leveldesign, good gameplay, great art design, well made boss fights...
Just because you're bad at metal slug 3 doesn't make it a quarter muncher what do souls fan boiz say, git gud, I can 1 credit clear ms 3, 1 life it if boss 4 drops a flame thrower and the final drops a super grenade,

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (PS2 version). Even today, after having played many modern racing games, I still consider Hot Pursuit 2 to be the best ever made. If I were extremely rich I would bribe EA to remake it with top quality graphics and VR support.

I would debate some of these being "perfect."

Regardless... You do have pretty good taste in video games 👍🏾

I did a video on ZombiU last year and said as much. Horribly underrated game!
Hell yea, I only recently subscribed, I'll have to look that video up.

That game at launch was once of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Completely blew me away at how much of a survival horror game it turned out to be and the Miiverse experience was the cherry on top.

Blazblue Continuum Shift 2/Extend is what made me fall in love with the franchise, back when ragna was insane and had 1 frame links from 22c 66 5a etc.
I always felt like BBCT/CS had potential but wee not hitting it.

Didn't like vanilla bbcp as much, then absolutely fell in love with bbcp:ex. (Easily my fave fighting game ever)

And bbcf was okay, but it made insanely fun characters like tager boring to play.

And bbtag was pants sadly.

Use to love making combo videos for various characters, hopefully they revive the series one day, but I hope they don't do what they did with strive and over simplify.

Ace Combat 4 is still the best AC game I played. Probably the best game I played on PS2. The only knock I could give if I want is I'm pretty sure there was an escort mission in it. Yuck. But the rest of the game was awesome.

One great thing about the game too is it had optional arcadey novice controls. I'm no flight gamer. And I don't give a shit about complex controls, yaw and shit like that. AC had novice control settings which you could literally play the game like After Burner. Turn with d-pad/analog and gas and brake buttons. Like a car game. I dont think recent AC games have controls that easy. I think you got to also do pitch/yaw shoulder button BS.

I would had also put World at War here as the MP and SP are awesome. And I didn't even touch Zombie mode which was a fan fav mode. But then I remembered it was old school COD, so you got lots of "connection interrupted" matches bombing to the lobby as hosts bailed and the game didnt have dedicated servers to keep the match going. So got to ding the game on that point.

Also, when the game got riddled with hackers later on when the community thinned out, hackers got rampant and the cheaters lingered around a lot more than legit gamers. I'll give that a small knock on the game as I didn't play much when mods got popular. It wasnt a big deal to find a legit lobby and stay there for an hour. I think it got to a point many people realized that and did the same thing. The second you find a good lobby of legit players you stayed there until you were done for the night (even if it rotated to a map you didn't like).

Axelay is my fav SNES game. Incredible shooter with crazy visuals and audio, but one problem. Performance issues. There's all kinds of slowdown and flickering in the game. Like a lot.

These are probably my 3 most fav games with the least amount of imperfections. I'd go with AC4 as the best then.

It's Metal Slug Mania Time! A Ten Part Series dedicated to looking at the history and evolution of the mainline Metal Slug franchise from SNK! And sadly we have gotten to Metal Slug 4...the black sheep of the Metal Slug franchise. It's...well...just not very good! SNK wasn't involved in it's development and it will always be the weakest game in the entire franchise. Retro gaming failure!

I really wanted to take a look at the Metal Slug franchise as it's one of my favorite arcade series of all time and the history behind the games and their evolution is quite interesting. When it comes to retro gaming you can't skip Metal Slug!

Up next: Metal Slug 4! Or more aptly "The Metal Slug that sucked"! After SNK folded and the rights went up in the air a company named Mega teamed up with Noise Factory to make Metal Slug 4...and damn did they botch it! Sure it's the same intense run and gun action we all know and love but all of the charm, giant bosses and everything else we know and love from Metal Slug were stripped out of 4 making it by far the WORST entry in the entire franchise! Retrogaming bummer!

I am playing on the MiSTer FPGA Neo Geo core too! So you don't need to drop thousands of dollars on an AES cart!

Up next: Metal Slug 5! If Metal Slug 4 was garbage then Metal Slug 5 was a decent return to form for the series. It's certainly not as good as 1/2/X or 3 but Mega Corporation was out of the picture for Metal Slug 5 and Noise Factory made the entire game. It brings back all the charm and humor of the series while keeping that retrogaming arcade run and gun action we all crave! It's a decent way for the series to leave the Neo Geo before it moved onto the Atomiswave for Metal Slug 6!

Hmm. For me it was Ultima VII. Will always have fond memories but what really stole my time and much of my life for a good two years was Final Fantasy XI. Everything just clicked for me. The story, the music, character animations, the incredible depth of the battles if you had solid team members that all knew their characters and special abilities.
Fuck there were times I was up until 4 in the morning and caught a quick 2 hours of sleep before going to work because shit you just can’t abandon your party or linkshell members.
Even times when I decided to cut work for the day and at 9 in the morning get invited to an all Japanese party. Didn’t have to understand everything they were saying I just knew how my character fit in with their party. At times that game and its overall atmosphere was fucking magical for me. Yeah, everything clicked.
Still actually touch base from time to time with people I met while playing that game.
