Features:

  • Remastered visuals across characters and environments
  • Vastly improved character animation using full facial mocap performance
  • Updated and refined gameplay puzzles
  • Engine and lighting upgrades
  • Includes previously released Deluxe Content: Chloe Outfits & ‘Farewell’ Bonus Episode
  • Choice and consequence driven stories with multiple endings
  • Harness the power of Max’s rewind ability or Chloe’s quick-witted attitude to change the course of events
  • Distinct licensed soundtrack & original scores

I'd really rather they leave the game itself alone. Not gonna doom & gloom if it's just some minor tweaks but in general dislike when remasters go into this territory.

I like the updated puzzles as seriously, that is the best thing regarding this. I don't know how much folks will care about those other improvements as this game isn't some God Of War or The Last Of Us type game where any of that shit mattered lol

They are smart to add all those extras as changing some of those visuals isn't really enough for a game like this imho

How can you like them when we have no idea what they'll be like? I'm worried they'll remove shit or dumb down an already fairly simple game.

I see...I thought they were just adding more puzzles or fixing issues. I don't think they'll ruin anything that is fine or break what wasn't broken, but we'll see.

I might just be projecting what I hope it is, for all I know they fuck shit up lol

At any rate I hope you end up being right. But yeah, we'll see.

These "choose your path" type games are something I've discovered I really enjoy.....LiS, the Telltale games, Until Dawn, the Dark Pictures Anthology games, the FMV games....just all of them. I'll definitely buy the LiS remastered bundle, just to experience them with enhanced graphics.

It's cool they're doing this. These games definitely showed their low budget at times and the facial animations in particular are a big corner that was cut considering the type of cinematic character-driven game it was. I think redoing it with real performance capture could really elevate it.

That said, I've played the game and I probably won't replay it just for that, but cool for newcomers.

OK... Interesting take. The original game was a cross gen game. Cross gen games, to some extent, usually get the automatic "remaster" treatment on the next gen hardware - in the case of Life is Strange better resolution, better texture, better performance . I can see, that the developers with more experience could do more improvements by not being constrained by the old hardware and take advantage of the PS4 Pro extra hardware capabilities... But now with the PS5 version, in funny way, the remaster too is a cross gen game. 🤔 "Remaster" of a remaster... which is also a remaster of a "remaster"?:messenger_dizzy:

I will buy it again. Loved the game so I will gladly replay it with the added improvements. Also, it's an easy Platinum. :messenger_beaming::messenger_smiling_horns:

Very cool. I never got around to playing it and i don't know why. And i don't expect a lot of games in September so it fits well for me

From a technical standpoint the studio surely have become better since the original release. I'm very curious to see how they enhance it

Looks good. I think to buy it as soon as there is more free time.
It's amazing that they decided to do a remaster so quickly.

Which studio and release are you refering to? Because DontNod isnt doing this remaster. Their partnership with Square Enix is done so Deck Nine (and possibly other devs) are handling the franchise now.

I didn't know this.
Isn't Deck Nine also handling LiS3?
I guess the same applies to them, too.
Lis 1 has his share of hipsters too.
Absolutely, but it's very tame in comparison.

It was enough to made me bail out after just the first episode.

I can't even imagine going through something even worse than that...

To the game's credit, the hipster rendition of the characters in lis1 is much more naive, still cringe, but always interesting enough.
Is hipster in a "how do you do fellow kids" way, without being aggressively offputting like the sequels.

I'd say give it a chance, but also stay away from sequels if this is too much already, lol

Thanks for the heads up, but no, i'm good.

I don't really like the protagonist, his friend with the problematic father and i'm not even into time manipulating stuff to begin with, it's probably my least favourite type of scifi.

Okay... Now I'm starting to worry. Deck Nine is not even french. Their prequel to the LiS was okayish, but mainly because the original game was great. I don't think they can deliver that "je ne sais quoi".

Mo-caping the facial movements is probably the best news. The lip syncing in the first LiS was sketchy at best and it could be distracting until you got used to it.

Redoing the animations is an interesting take. I wonder why they choose to do that.
Well during the Square Event Deck Nine made point to say that they're doing in studio mo-capped animation for Life is Strange: True Colors. So I guess they've figured since they took the time to make that setup they might as well use it.

Also, animation is one of the biggest things you could improve from the original LiS tbh. The lip sync was poor, a lot of the characters use the same generic mannerisms and there's some minor cut-scenes in the final episode where the characters mouths straight up don't even move.
