After waiting 6 years I was looking forward to get a Switch Pro with DLSS, faster CPU, faster GPU, an OLED with a 1080P screen and the capability to upscale smoothly to 4K while on the Dock.

Would have gladly gave Nintendo $400 - $500 for 1 but Nintendo rather resell old hw for tons of profit over giving us better tech with smaller margins. Since people lap up what ever Nintendo throws at us I guess we'll never get the Switch I hope for...
Yeah i think they will finally give us the 1080p handheld and 1440p dlss upscaled Switch in like 2024 lol by that time PS5 Pro and Series XX will be out with like 18tflops Switch will be like 3 generations of technology behind.

They don't have a competitor and want to make money with the hardware too.
Well someone need to give them competition image if Sony bring back the Vita but this time with better specs than Switch wile being cheaper. Nintendo been pulling this stuff for way to long they need to have someone forced them to do better.

People are willing to pay more for better HW as proven by PS4 Pro and XB1X/XSX.

They can even make more profit on this HW and people will still buy it as proven by how much people have been willing to pay for PS5 and XSX hw.

Nintendo is simply ignoring people that prefer better hw.

There's no competition when it comes to Nintendo handhelds. Another Sony handheld will be DOA.

What's the matter with it? People don't care about specs but games... Nintendo are not doing any charity when selling consoles, if Sony could get away with it they would. Millenials discover Nintendo sell something people want to buy for a price... It's a good thing other brands exist so the people that don't like how Nintendo sell their things can buy those instead, that's how the world works.

Remember the Vita? That handheld gaming platform that had better specs and was the same price as the 3DS?
Don't fuck with Nintendo competition-wise when it comes to handheld. I don't know how or why no one can but they can't. While the PSP can be considered successful it still wasn't shit compared to the DS in terms of profit.

You do you…I just personally find Nintendo’s output the past few years to be abysmal especially since they only have one platform to support.

I had much higher expectations but it’s clear Nintendo isn’t really catering to AAA tastes much anymore
Yes, you do... But a lot of people not even fans like what they release, including ports of old games they haven't played or that they played and enjoyed. And Nintendo is away from competing directly with Sony and MS... I thought they put it clear with the Wii, lol.

That was a different time if Sony made a Vita 2 today with better specs than Switch lets say 1080p - 1440p and price it at like 250 i would buy it in a heartbeat.

And proceed to sell you overpriced proprietary memory cards. There's always a caveat for that kind of price.

A Vita 2 would be DOA. No chance.

A PSP2 on the other hand could maybe have an impact, although only if they do it properly and even then it would be very risky because the market of playing console-like experiences on the go is already filled with the Switch. Now if they price the system for 250 bucks, that would rob the Switch of some sales, but ultimately that's not enough.
A PSP2 would most likely sell less than 20 million copies. That's not enough for Sony.

The price will go down when the sales drop off. Is the switch still selling like crazy right now?

All it says to me is Sony were masterful with the PD5DE.

It cannot be under estimated how much of a value it is.

The Switch OLED is essentially a luxery version of the Switch, you get better Screen, Wider Screen and Better sound (plus a better stand) so an extra $50 isn't a bad deal

The Switches big selling point is a handheld/home console hybrid and the big N knows that they have no competition in this realm with the exception of Stadia
Captain America Laughing GIF by mtv

As such THAT is where the higher price comes from...

nintendo quality (AKA damn good) games at home or on the go...now with more vibrant colors and better sound ;)

The issue I have is that the quality has always existed in terms of hardware build quality, however the joy cons are defective.

I’d also say that Nintendo have always thrives with affordable hardware (Game Boy less than £100, Wii £179, DS super cheap etc). Even the Switch at £279 is good value considering it is a hybrid. 3DS price dropped and never looked back.

£310 though, I may be wrong but I can see this model in particular absolutely bombing in the UK.

This sadly seems to be the norm for these new joysticks (assuming you're referring to the drift

yeah going to have to disagree, the Wii was decently affordable, but since then the bulk of Nintendo (official merchandise) is stupidly expensive and don't get me started on the Wii U pad lol Besides I imagine the Switch will see a price drop when sales start to slump, but as that isn't the case currently...well you know

I mean anything's a possibility, but people bought the Wii mini and that piece of crap was...well crap...

So who knows, if anyone's loyal fanbase will buy anything it's the big N lol

Nintendo don’t do that stuff man, come on

The Wii U struggled with sales for its entire lifespan yet Nintendo refused to cut prices on it

Didnt they start doing bundles with wiiu? Or maybe they realised wiiu was beyond saving.

Vita are PSP though it the same line of handheld console by Sony. It won't be DOA if price right and have better specs.

I can't find a single good reason why it wouldn't be DOA in a post Switch world. Even with a better price tag and better specs, this probably wouldn't work out. Like what do you think would a Vita 2 sell?
Yes it will cause Sony and Nintendo games do not overlap much. The Vita in 2011 was ahead of it time it had Oled way before the Switch. If they can somehow make it with good specs to run AAA games where the switch cannot in a handheld than Sony could get a junk of the market right there.

Then don't expect a high end $250 portable? Are you naive or what?

The subsidized $400 PS5 exist for a reason.
You have to remember Sony willing to sell their console at a loss wile making it up with software sales. So yes i do believe it is possible.

You certainly didn't remember how Vita backlog turns out.

Their first priority is PSN subscription / MTX now, they are highly lucrative compared to the effort needed to churn out great software.

Even if everything turns out as good as possible (price, specs, games, marketing, etc.) I don't see it selling more than 30 million max, which would come at a huge cost of Sony's own software output. They barely made games for the Vita. If they release a powerful handheld for 250 bucks, that wouldn't do much to Nintendo. They have the Lite for 170 bucks. And they could reduce the asking price of the main model. A new Vita wouldn't be as lucrative as you think it is. An impressive piece of hardware perhaps, but not a threat to the Switch.

That is a long time ago i believe in today day they can pull it off Vita was ahead of it time. The Handheld market is left by itself that why Switch has total domination over it they need a competitor. So if not Sony than even Microsoft should try to make a powerful handheld.

Lets say Sony Make a Vita 2 with powerful enough specs to run like say GTA 6 in a handheld they would sell tons and tons the portability factor and convenience of that would be the selling point since Nintendo Switch are too weak to run powerful AAA 3rd parties games. That is the selling point here.

You are delusional, GTA6? You can't seem to comprehend the working condition of a portable, a powerful one at that. Heat issues and batteries predominantly would gimp the performance overall in every case possible. The price is not even the first concern. AAA 3rd parties demographics at large wouldn't bother much with portable play anyway because of the graphic whores mentality.

A better proposition is to release a portable streaming console, Xbox series P for example with dedicated Xcloud capabilities, specs a bit lower than XSS. That, I could see being an attractive product with long term prospects unlike chasing for the clouds.

Would they also release affordable portable bandwidth for this portable streaming player?

Well, you can't have it all. PS5-like specs and all while in a handheld form factor for 250 bucks? Not before 2025 tech-wise and for that price not before 2028. By that time Nintendo already released the Switch 2.

if anyone is disappointed with Nintendo maybe it's time to start talking with the wallets and stop giving them a free ride on nostalgia , as much as I love and grownup with Nintendo in my life lately their being a bit greedy, ignorant to the fans that they are making bank off. it's their way or no way it seems.

example 19 years to make a new Metroid sequel , where is the Metroid ports to bridge the 19 year gap on the switch. . delays for games because they had to start again but waited till the last minuet to inform fans if the reason they states was in fact true.

joy con drifts blatantly no intention to really fix the issue. court cases , etc

it's like they don't truly care about the fans and we will only do what we want to despite the billions of people who buy our stuff.

It's all about the money, it's all about the dum dee dum dee dee dum lol

Maybe stop being so old fashioned & stubborn Nintendo and you would make a ton more money and have a happy fan base reaching all generations .After all it's your fans that are making your console sell despite it been weaker than the other 2 which are out and I'm sure theirs only so long you carry on that tactic and good grace.

There are already powerful enough portable handheld that can run most modern Big AAA titles like this one here they just need to work on to lower the price.

You're saying this and that and still no solution without typical subsidization accompanied with caveats. We have history to look back into and here we go again.
Tell me. How much battery life does that thing have on full blast? The game settings for recent games on average? And the price tactics to coup the costs? As usual, no solution, just hopes and dreams.

People spend a €1000 on a new iPhone, just to take snapshots of their cat and post stuff on social media. Things you can do on any nobrand smartphone just as well. Yet they pay a 1000 for it and nobody bats an eye. I wonder why €350 for a gaming device is seen as expensive?

Now, I have no clue if people are gonna think the new Switch is worth the asking price. I personally have no interest to upgrade, but if my launch Switch bites the dust, I have no problem spending €350 on a new one. It's a great piece of hardware with great games.

because an iphone/android phone does other things besides take photos, obviously?

Why would I pay much more than 300 to play a few games?

I bought like 90% of everything Nintendo released during the Wii/DS and WiiU/3DS eras and I haven't bought anything since outside of some amiibo. There is just no way I'd buy a switch with all its QC issues, especially the dock and drift, and godawful paid online.
Considering they've done nothing to address any of these issues after 3 hardware updates it's best to just move on and hope that next gen turns out better. They're just too profitable to really care about fixing the Switch at this point.

You don't have to? If you 'just wanna play a few games' you could just get the old Atari 2600 off the attic and do just that?

But to speak in your language. People spend a €1000 to take crappy pictures, listen to Spotify and browse their socials, because lets face it, thats what 99% of all people use their phones for, and they have no issues with that, despite being able to do exactly the same on a €100 phone. Why is €350 to play a few games such an issue?
