I personally like the man's quirkiness as a creator, but on the gameplay side of things I'm not particularly fond of anything MGS after the first game, nor do I like how MGS2 in particular clearly influenced western gaming in the last 20 years.

I love MGS2 (favorite MGS and probably top 5-10 all time for me), but I think I see your point. Influence = bait and switch narratives that are over-convoluted... I assume?
