Kaz: To all our users (about the GT7 servers being down)

I wanted to explain what happened in this update.

Immediately before the release of the 1.07 update, we discovered an issue where the game would not start properly in some cases on product versions for the PS4 and PS5.

This was a rare issue that was not seen during tests on the development hardware or the QA sessions prior to the release, but in order to prioritize the safety of the save data of the users, we decided to interrupt the release of the 1.07 update, and to make a 1.08 correctional update.

This is the reason for the delay.
My sincere apologies for the late report to everyone.

Also in this update, some event rewards have been adjusted. I wanted to also explain the reasons for it and our plans going forward.

In GT7 I would like to have users enjoy lots of cars and races even without microtransactions.
At the same time the pricing of cars is an important element that conveys their value and rarity, so I do think it’s important for it to be linked with the real world prices.
I want to make GT7 a game in which you can enjoy a variety of cars lots of different ways, and if possible would like to try to avoid a situation where a player must mechanically keep replaying certain events over and over again.

We will in time let you know the update plans for additional content, additional race events and additional features that will constructively resolve this.
It pains me that I can’t explain the details regarding this at this moment, but we plan on continuing to revise GT7 so that as many players as possible can enjoy the game.
We would really appreciate it if everyone could watch over the growth of Gran Turismo 7 from a somewhat longer term point of view.

Seasonal Events will probably give a lot of credits from Kaz words.
That fix two things:
1 - The rate of GoW player get credits
2 - Makes grind race over and over again not a good option to get credits

GT5/GT6 had the same low economy system but used Season Events (that are limited to play) to give players tons of credits.

After all I got that trophy of $1 billion credits before finish all the others tasks with Gold.

"and if possible would like to try to avoid a situation where a player must mechanically keep replaying certain events over and over again"

How did the change actually accomplish it?

Didn't it... just nerf some races where people could earn credits quickly to buy cars?

That is such a wild spin on that lol

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
They can very easily put out a patch to make all but the E Sports segment of the game offline.

Forcing everything to be online is just absurd.

and if possible would like to try to avoid a situation where a player must mechanically keep replaying certain events over and over again.

That sounds pretty contradictory when you see that they've reduced the payout for almost all challenges and only increased it for 2.

That is not *all* the events in the game. Some didn't change at all and have the same payout as launch.

People who actually have and play the game would know this. ;)

What? Looks at this contradiction:

"At the same time the pricing of cars is an important element that conveys their value and rarity, so I do think it’s important for it to be linked with the real world prices.

Yes, I understand that because the way GT is, the "mentality" behind the game makes sense for more rare cars to be more difficult to get. Suck it gamers, that's how it yes.
But immediately after he says that he wants players to play with as many cars as possible and they want without having to gring...? WTF KAZ!

Wouldn't be simpler to allow you do use any cars you want on a offline arcade mode?

Just reporting on what's being presented online. And what's being presented online shows a pretty lopsided skew.
The events that changed the prize are not even 1% of the amount of events in Game.

Most didn’t have any change.

I mean 19 events are less than the amount of tracks in the game.

I’m just glad the bloody game is working again. Fortunately (or not 😂) I’ve been working, so the downtime hasn’t affected me, but I do feel sorry for those who wanted to play the game. The drama about credits and the MTX is a non-issue to me - if your daft enough to spend money on virtual cars that you can save up for by playing the game, then more fool you. Christ, I remember grinding on GT games before MTX’s were even a thing!

LOL, what a line.

Sure, there can be somewhat expensive cars...just give great fun and easy ways to get the credits to buy them.

Its a video game brochacho.

That doesn't really answer my question; I was aware 2 were boosted. It's not like those were boosted so much that it made up for the nerfs, it was a massive net negative of credits wasn't it?

All it's doing is making it harder to earn cars by racing; that's it.. they do that, to make more money by encouraging more MTX spend.

It's just so skeevy to spin that any other way. Just be honest about it and move on.

Same with the reflecting real world prices thing.

I don't know why anyone worships this dickhead devs. Would respect honestly so much more lol

They need to add back in the ability to sell cars. In the previous games a big chunk of the income came from selling unwanted duplicates and now we can't even do that, only discard.
Yep, this was in GT sport too and I've made my dislike of it clear in the past but it's on deaf ears at PD. A game should always feel rewarding. It's one of the most basic things people want in a game. At least giving an option to sell prize cars, even a flat amount not related to the car, would make the "prize" feel like a prize even if it's just a little.

The two that were boosted are like 10 minute races. Even then the payout is tiny and it'll take hours grinding those races to afford a higher end car. The payouts are still tuned to force people into buying MTX if they want the more expensive cars.

I don't mind severs down for like 2 or 3 hours if it's like after midnight or something. Genshin Impact for example has this that happen between Midnight to 3 or 4 AM at Tuesday/Wednesday, on which i'm likely sleeping during that time, and every 40 days. The issue is when it happens during the daylight, specially if i'm at home being able to play the game.

I love PoDi and GT7 with all my heart, but PoDi really need to find a way to improve this, because right now it's a disaster.

I'm unsure. I did not use those grinding methods, nor had that event unlocked yet. I've been playing the game normally, progressing well with over 75 cars (including the main ones I wanted), lots of rewards and over a million credits still.

I'm in no rush, persoanlly.

I guess by aligning those specific races to be in line with every other race average so you can play any race and it will give you the same instead of feeling that's the one specific race you should grind over and over. I just hope this means more events added over time and looking back at past GTs since GT5 I'm hopeful that they will add more and more tracks and races.

Exactly. Should have always been this way.

What good was 2013 if they are making always online games now?
that was all marketing bullshit. if Sony could've got away with making online single player games back then they would've done it. it's only because of the backlash against Xbox that Sony came out against it...because it benefited them by making themself look like the good consumer friendly guys.

now it benefits them to try push online single player games because that was 9 years ago and the general public don't care anymore so Sony are trying to push it because it'll give them more control and money.

Hmm, ok. Clarity is good.
In GT7 I would like to have users enjoy lots of cars and races even without microtransactions.
Just like early gen GTs, i can get on board with that.

Get fucked. Digital rarity? Value on pixels?

Oh, so he wants you to just buy them with real money instead of playing the game "over and over again".

This is a really really tone deaf response to the issues people have been having with the ways to purchase cars in the game. Head straight up his own ass.

Yet nobody had to grind races before.. they were doing it because they wanted to earn easier credits.

Look at the wording.. "avoid a situation where players MUST"...

No you wanted to avoid a situation where players CAN easily earn credits.. that's it.

They saw people earning credits faster than they liked, which harms their economy, AKA their money making ability. That's the change.. to make more money.

Any other spin being accepted by anyone is just some fanboy brain worms shit to me.

I'm not even here saying it isn't OK for them to do that.. but just be up front about it. You really aren't helping things with these explanations as nobody in their right mind is going to accept them.

I mean:

"In GT7 I would like to have users enjoy lots of cars and races even without microtransactions.".... so therefore you patched the game to make it harder to enjoy lots of cars without MTX.
