A timeless classic that will stand the test of time. It’s the best love story put on screen and simply an iconic film.

People were still crying in my showing, and even clapped at the end. There’s simply not many films in history that can have such an effect on people nearly 3 decades after its initial release.

But this film: timeless.

The cinematography is masterful, and the sinking ship stands tall amongst the best set pieces in the history of film - if not taller.

The soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal and iconic. The characters are loveable. This is simply a timeless, iconic movie that will never become stale because love never dies. It’s such a simple story, yet told so beautifully, and its a film that turns tragedy into beautiful spectacle. it truly is magnificent.

10/10 - if you haven’t seen it in a theater then go do it. I was shocked at how good it looked remastered in 4K3D.

Great movie. I haven't seen it in forever but I remember vividly every point you made, even the impressive set piece of the vertically sinking ship in the theater when it first came out.

The thing about this movie. I feel like back then it was watched constantly. When it came out on VHS, I remember the entire long line at Blockbuster buying a copy in addition to whatever they were renting. It was playing at everyone's house. To this day I remember the entire story and every scene. Perhaps that is a testament to what an impact this film made, but between the long running time and overexposure, I don't think I'd pay to see it on the big screen again.

Hell before even reading this thread or realizing the movie had been rereleased lately, yesterday something made me think of Jack and Rose yelling "shut up!" when accosted with "Hey, that's White Star Property! You'll have to pay for that y'know!"

It might be 20 years since I've seen that scene but back then it was imprinted so many times the film is permanently in my brain now.

I saw it 4 times, when it originally came out. In the spawn of a couple of weeks.
Not because I liked it that much, but because I had a few groups of friends constantly inviting me to go along
I liked hanging out with them and I don't dislike the movie. So I just went along.
I never saw it again, after that.

But it's not Cameron's best movie. This guy made Terminator 2, Aliens and True Lies.

I wanted to go see it because I loooove Titanic. Not just the movie but everything to do with it.

but it seems there is only 3D showings. I wear glasses and I'm not going to go if I need to wear glasses ontop of my own glasses like a right fucking idiot. Hopefully we get a 4K digital release so I can watch it at home.

Saw it in a beaten up cinema with my then gf. Not gonna lie, I teared up by the end but had to hide it as the tough bf etc. I was stupid, she later asked me to draw her as a French painting. I did. Sexier than it sounds, she kept cimplaining and wanting corrections.

So it was just me, my guy friend and a bunch of mums with teen and younger daughters and friends at the Sunday 10 AM showing. The girls were absolutely enthralled.

I barely noticed the HFR. The famous kiss scene was high framerate lol. When the ship sinks the HFR really helps, especially when it's ass rises from the water. It feels so real and monstrous!
The 3D is almost as good as native. It's basically as good as the converted scenes from Avatar (the close-ups, video logs, a bunch of dialogue scenes). It enhances the ship porn and destruction porn. There's a really neat 3D effect when Billy Zane shoots downwards in a spiral staircase and the water splashes up towards the screen.

Also the movie is funnier than I remembered.

Such an impressive career. He has so damn many “best X” movies… it’s really hard to decide which one is his best. For me it’s T2, but when you look at the amount of work that went into making Titanic, from costumes to set building to using huge water tanks, the cgi, and just the sheer scale of it all, and then on top of it the movie is very memorable and mostly well acted, yeah, ask me again after a rewatch and it may replace T2 as his best for me.

Aliens is just a spectacular even film
Abyss is great for any doubters you are wrong

T2, while Aliens is sublime, T2 was just perfection, story wise Aliens is amazing but T2 just has something about it that transcends I dunno I can't explain

Now I realize Terminator literally spawned the character in your avatar, but TITANIC is the only film he's made that gets re-released every decade, because its so timeless. A one and done masterpiece

Man, I remember the Titanic mania in 1997. I got really into it as a kid. Had several books about the Titanic. The entire saga of the ship and its sinking is fascinating, and the movie was pretty much perfect for telling the story in a way that was interesting to casual audiences while also sparing no details in getting the historical side almost 100% accurate.

I recently rewatched it and the story affected me a lot more as an adult. It's hard to fathom the horror everyone experienced, including the survivors.

I consider Gone With The Wind the better "romance" epic. Despite being nearly 100 years old, the witty and snappy dialogue holds up really well today. And I find its depiction of romance and envy to be more believable than the fairy tale forbidden love tale of Titanic. It has some unforgettable scenes and performances. Probably the greatest film of all times.

Titantic is really a lot of ways a movie I normally would't enjoy but even I enjoy it a lot. I'm not big in to epic romance/romance in general. It's just a beautiful film and the soundtrack is amazing.
