So, I played the hell out of Division 2 but, as with all things, you get tired (after around 200 hours, lol) and it drops off.

I decided to fire it up the other day and oh boy. I remember why I was hooked. It really is so damned good! The atmosphere, the freedom, presentation etc. I can see myself now sinking ANOTHER 100+ hours into this. Oh, for those who are interested, it works great on the steam Deck!

Ubisoft, if you're listening. Just give us Division 3!

The shooting is very tight and Div 2 is a lot more solo-player friendly as well for anyone who wants to tackle it.

No, the story is paper thin, you're just as well off looking at a 5 minute recap video of the first game.

Div 1, arguably, has a better setting in the snowy NY vs Div 2's summer Washington DC.

Div 1 is a bit more harder if you want to play solo, Div 2 added more solo friendly perks etc, but they're both fully playable alone.

Yes. imo Division 1 has better atmosphere than Division 2. No game has winter in NYC as good as the first game.

The gameplay is better in Division 2. It's smoother and more responsive and quicker.

Both games can be played fully solo. You can do nearly everything apart from raid like activities and legendary difficulty stuff.

Hop in, it's great. Both are some of the best third person looter shooters in the market.

There's continuity between the two titles. The Division explores a world-wide pandemic that starts in NYC and escalates from there (this was done before COVID became a thing). The Division 2 explores the aftermath of civilization collapsing and remaining factions filling in the power vacuum. It mostly takes place in Washington DC but the post-launch content focus is mostly on NYC again. There's a third expansion due at the end of the year focused on Central Park. The first expansion took place in Lower Manhattan, the second in Brooklyn.

Tonally, the first game is better. It's dark and morbid. This is expressed from the visuals, the music, even the writing. Gameplay-wise, The Division 2 is a far better product. It's also still actively getting lots of content, with a new mode called survivors coming this winter. My guess is that we'll get a tonal shift back to something closer to The Division for it, with a snow-covered Washington DC (they're redoing the entire map and adding more underground areas!).

Division 3 has been in development for awhile now and is probably going to be a 2028 release. A lot is riding on its success given Ubisoft's uh... financial situation.

The propaganda recordings are some of the worst writing I have ever been subjected to, it's brutal.

You are right though the gunplay and loop is fantastic.

I loved the Brooklyn one. I know it's unlikely to get another like it but I'd love a format where they release an expansion of it's size annually.

I played it when it came out on Xbox One since my brother bought it for me and wanted me to play it with him. Just got back into on PC earlier this year and it's like a whole different experience playing at 120fps. Have about 300hrs into it. Right now I spend most of my time doing Escalation mode in random groups and the Into the Dark PvE Dark Zone.

No set release date, but the Central Park DLC is on the 2026 roadmap. With the Brooklyn expansion being fall themed, Central Park will likely be winter themed. There's been an increase in winter themed clothing outfits for sale, plus all the manhunt narrative stuff has been pushing towards winter for some time now.

I liked the atmosphere of Division 1 way better. World feels more alive and it has more subtle details.
