Nice. Based on numbers from your last thread looks like RingFit has gone up by another 100k in less than a month.

So Sony legit doesn't care about Japan now huh? My god......it's insane.
Don't fret, it'll (possibly) get Sony to take the handheld market seriously again. With the way things are going, they may have to go the hybrid route like Nintendo.

If I was Sony, I wont care about Japanese market at all. It has completely moved towards mobile/handheld and the efforts wont be worth the reward. I'd rather focus on markets that are up and coming- China, India, Korea, Brazil and what not. Much more if to be gained there than Japanese market.

Of course, Sony also makes mobile games and there I'd go all in on Japanese market, but not on home consoles. Its a dead market for them.

A Vita form factor with basically PS4 internals that outputs HDMI would be ideal.
I'd prefer something bigger with similar detachable/akimbo controllers like the Switch.

This could fit nicely with a "portable VR" where you slide the tablet/console into the lenses and then go. Things are moving in that direction anyway. If Sony could offer Ps VR / PS4 Pro level graphics on the go, I'd be sold.

Either way, it's a long shot and I'm just using my imagination. Dunno if Sony would actually try again after the Vita's poor performance.

Do we have a comparison between Switch, 3DS, and DS? Would be interesting to see if it's matching its predecessors.

They gave up the fight against Nintendo but the won't abandoned it yet since a lot of big Japanese 3rd party games will be released exclusively on PS5.

It's more due to supply, than a lack of demand. But Sony needs to get off the crack pipe if they feel like it's okay to just give Japan away like this. I guess we now know Jim Ryan doesn't care about Japan.
Demand of PS5 is skyrocket during the holidays but it will falters after Week 1 of 2021.

PS5 has 1-3 years for its killer apps. There are also a lot of fans outside Japan supporting Japanese titles. I don’t know how the Japanese gaming market works. I see what sells and when it’s Mario Kart 8. I’m surprised . How many times can that game get sold? Did anyone here import Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban!?

Yes this has to be stated again and again. There are simply no PS5 systems to be found here. So few have been shipped here and the only way to get one is basically by lottery. And many of the lotteries have so many entries, 100 times or more the supply per store, it’s practically impossible to get one. Sony has to get more stock into Japan but sadly I don’t see it happening until the us and Europe have enough supply.

They better get it done faster or they will face a total humiliation during Monster Hunter Rise week.

I remember someone saying that the PS5 stock for Japan would be pretty low, at around 100k for its launch.

Sony had already stated they won't sidelines Japan this time around and yet here we are witnessing a weekly 11K shipment of PS5 during holiday season.
They also stated that "They believe in generations" in response for MS planning to make most of their first year first party games cross gen. I really wouldn't put too much into what Sony says.

honestly even if they did they will still not be able to deal with those numbers. Monster Hunter will still sell gigantic on switch. Nothing will stop that juggernaut. Sony still needs to get more systems out cause the demand is high and people are getting more and more frustrated over it. Even though they are playing the long term game it’s not a good look for them to only have so few systems here each week. I’ve seen so many people list on twitter and else where every single lottery they have lost. Some have applied for over 20 now, and still no luck.

I guess the PS5 is still supply limited in Japan, but then it means that Sony would rather supply other markets than Japan, which is also a significant change.

Im curious what the strategy is behind it as for some JP devs like Gust or Falcom the local market is key, and I think most of those games will be PS4/Switch for a while.

Sony seems to be shipping small numbers of PS5s everywhere outside the Anglosphere.
For example https://www.neogaf.com/threads/spain-sales-week-48-ps5-collapses.1582429/
I'm pretty sure they are not able to produce enough PS5s, and are prioritising markets where the Xbox is competitive.

In the transition from PS2/Xbox/GC/DC Nintendo said that it was difficult and expensive to make the leap to HD. Squeenix and other japanese devs complained about how HD towns are hard. Strangely, there wasn't as much of this talk during the transition to PS4/Wii U/X1. It was the opposite: there was a lot of talk about how easy it was to move over, how such-and-such company was so supportive of indies and how painless it was to move a game over, etc.

The expense of HD assets didn't go away, they just shuffled the issue under the rug. Japanese devs cannot afford to move to the PS5 and XsX quite yet. Switch is still on the market and PS4 has a huge installed base. There's very little incentive for them to develop solely for PS5 and I expect a ton of games built for Switch/PS4 with a XsX/PS5 "boosted" version.

Lol I can see people celebrating PS5 lack of sales, but you guys need to use your brain and realise theres a lack of units lol

This is their biggest launch in terms of how many countries they're shipping too and during a global pandemic no less.

Can bitch about supply numbers to Sony as much as you want but eventually you have to come to terms with the reality of the situation

Guys, the PS5 figures might have to do with the fact that there's no stock available. You know AMD isn't supplying enough (as El Risitas would argue)
So yeah, PS4 sales might surpass PS5.
