I fundamentally disagree with your proposition that there are 'kids games' and 'teenager games'. In general popular games are played by a wide range of different demographics.
Impossible no, extremely hard yes as it uses a lot of kanji as it's kind of aimed at older gamers hence the lack of simple kana. And i wouldn't hold my breath for a western release the closest the west ever got was itadaki street/fortune street. Once you learn the basics of momoden it can be a lot of fun though.
Demons souls? really? i heard that Japanese gamers hate that game for being a soulless remake that reverse every good thing from the original game. if you go to Amazon Japan right now you will find the top three user reviews of this game with hundreds of people agreeing with them that this game is a piece of shit.
I can only go by what I’ve read online with people trying to buy the system and those that dealt with the amazon back orders. Most of them did say they wanted to play demons souls the most right now when they got the system. As for amazon reviews, I always tend to avoid them. Too many review bombings of games there over the years. Never been able to fully trust them.
There are 300.000 PS5 owners in Japan, only 20.000 of them bought the remake. that small number should tell you that no one really cares about that game in Japan, it's obvious.
I'd say very few games are targeted at your average 40 year old but the thing is so many 40/30 year olds these days still have the same interests as they did as teenagers. And there's no shame in that.
