I am still surprised about those PS4 sales and the YoY growth from last year. I really don't understand why they seemingly stopped producing PS4s since 2019. They clearly could have sold plenty of those during the 20/21 and 22 years. It was a mistake and based on those sales they seem to have understood it was.

PS4 is as good as PS5 when most games are cross-gen and services available also on PS4.

I understand that, but Japan was getting almost nothing. There wasn't a territory that wasn't going to immediately sell out. Japan is an important territory due to how much of the gaming industry is located there.

It is an important region, even if less populated than places like North America.

Actually...PS5 is selling almost 100k for weeks in Japan. It sold 270k in Japan over the past 3 weeks alone in there. This means it's their 2nd biggest market right now.

You guys really underestimate Japan for Sony. The UK had like 300k consoles sold last month overall. PS5 is selling that alone in Japan.

USA and UK are places where ps could have lost marketshare, as those places Xbox has a decent foothold. Would make sense to send most ps5s to those areas.

There wasn't a lot of software that would have sold well in japan so they were diverting hardware elsewhere. You can see that with the god of war results. They probably want to have a ton of ps5 stock for japan with ff16 coming up now though.
