Frome Eurogamer Why Nintendo Switch games are ending up more expensive • Eurogamer.net

The cost of manufacturing a Nintendo Switch game is higher than the cost of making a PS4, PC or Xbox One game, because the cartridges the Switch uses cost more to make than Blu-ray discs.

Who manufactured cartridges for Switch?

From Wikipedia
The cartridges come in a variety of capacities: 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB. 64 GB cartridges were planned to be introduced in the second half of 2018, but due to unspecified circumstances, Nintendo originally delayed the launch of this variant to 2019, then delayed again to 2020. 64 GB cartridges will use XtraROM technology from Macronix.

Out of all the end state that will determine Switch 2 or Switch Pro, memory seems to be the one-factor ppl on here miss to overlook. Currently, games with that need higher memory rely on cloud storage on switch. What do you think Nintendo could do with their potentially memory cap?

Some games rely on cloud not because there isn't enough space on the cartridges, but because of the lack of a decent hardware to run the games.

Cloud games don't look like a great solution to me. They will stop working eventually, and time gained in development is lost in maintaining an infrastructure.
