IGN: Silent Hill 2 Remake Rumors, Bloober Team CEO Refuses to Comment, But Says New Project 'Will Still Be a Bloober Team Title'

Bloober Team is getting better and better every game, but their not ready for remaking the GOAT. Maybe in few years, after they land some 9/10 original title.

On the other note, some people shitting on Bloober because Layers Of Fear forget that studios actually improve with experience. From Software made this crap https://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/steel-battalion-heavy-armor 10 years ago and now we have Elden Ring.
I share this optimism. Companies can have character growth.

The Medium wasn’t necessarily my favorite horror game by any stretch, but I thought it was kinda cool that a major horror title bucked the trends and tried using an old-school fixed-camera. The game suffered in other areas, but it wasn’t a cataclysmic failure nor did I hate playing it.

If they have people at Bloober who care and want this to be a faithful, well-made remake… give ‘em a shot. But that’s a big ‘if’

Why the hell is SH4: The Room not included? That game was the last game made by Team Silent and it's absolutely amazing.

PS The CEO can fuck off with thinking he can put his own stamp on SH2. Seriously.

Amazing how bad it is, maybe.

Music and storyline are great.

Everything else...

Let's have first person gameplay, then suddenly change it third person. Okay, Let's have one save point in the entire game. Alright, sweet. Why don't we add environmental hazards to the room that has the one save point halfway through the game. Boss. Speaking of boss, Let's have none of those. Those bat-flies we made are cool enough to have 8 million of and call a day.

Well, how about inventory management? Let's make the limit 10 items. Good, but how about we add degradable weapons? Okay, but only if we have invincible enemies. Mmm, how about invincible enemies that follow you through entire levels? Yeah, what about the levels? Well, we've got like five, let's just repeat those levels, and then we'll have ten! Well, that's kind of boring, let's make the second run through of those five areas an escort mission. An escort mission? Only if we can make the ending dependent on the character your escorting and how often she decides to fight monsters with her face. YOU'RE ON.

The Room.

Ugh.

Yes but you have to admit it was brilliant how they designed the room from the first person perspective. The atmosphere is top notch and even with its problems it is still far better than Bloobers output and deserves to be mentioned along with the rest of the OG games.

Oh yeah, atmospherically it's probably top tier of SH games. My personal favorite is SH3 just because I vibe with visceral, bizarre horror, but 4 is a masterclass for presentation. Small little things like the noise filter when you're going through the hole in the bathroom, or the sound design of monsters, or the gradual decay of 302. It's all a very claustrophobic, decidedly Japanese horror experience. I just wish it wasn't so, uh...bold with it's variations on the gameplay.

Totally agree. Have you tried out the Forbidden Siren games?

Waiting for any announcements, trailers or releases is a pain especially that stuff is leaked.
Why do they allow rumors to spread

Heard good things, but I've never actually taken the dive. Is it worthwhile?
Yeah both games in the series were made by Team Silent. Think of the same atmosphere of Silent Hill with all the same psychological horror elements and then add a pretty tough stealth game into the mix and that's what you have.

As a Silent Hill fan I'd say it's a must play series. But if stealth isn't your thing then maybe not. It's pretty unforgiving. The game play mechanic is really clever and I haven't really seen it used since.
