I want to thank Microsoft and Sony for helping me save money.

Everyone is complaining about subscription services and how they dumb down the quality, Innovation etc and many praise them because the option they provide and possibilities. For me subscription services are god send.
The last 6 moths i have saved over 200€, i have played many games that were on my shopping list that i had to delete them after 3-4 hours of gameplay because they were hot garbage or not my taste. If subscription services did not exist I would have bought this games and be forced to play them at least because i bought them, even if i sold them i would lose money. Games like Bioretard, Ass Valhalla, Mortal Shit, Werewolf, Final Fantasy 7 etc.
But also i found good games i would never buy like Control, Like a Dragon, Guardian of the Galaxy etc.

This year i bought only 3 games. Forgotten west and that was waste of time and money ( loved the first one), Elder Ring (completed 3 times with different builds over 300 hours) and God of War (awesome game but it is something that does not entice me to replay it).
In my opinion the combination of subscription services and buying games individually is time and money saver.

Praise Jim and Spencer.

Im in the same boat as you but a little bit different. Im not a fan of subscription services because I don't trust that the games I want to play will always be available. But I want to thank Sony for always having a lot of sales in the ps store. Purchased Doom Eternal for a measley $9.99, Metal Gear solid V for $3.99 was a steal in my opinion. Also getting Horizon Forbidden West for 39.99 3 months after it released I thought was a steal also.

Yup game prices get so cheap. I laugh when someone brags they got to play a huge game that took them two months to play for "free", when in reality they paid $30 to rent the game.

Meanwhile, the same game is on sale to buy and own for $8.

I do not understand how grown adults have so much free time and so little money that subscription services make sense. I actually play through maybe 4 full-length new release games per year because there aren't actually that many games released in a given year that are compelling enough to warrant devoting the time to. If the choice is playing some trash on Gamepass or going out drinking with friends I'll choose the latter.

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Microsoft and Sony aren’t even remotely the same, long time between AAA releases for Microsoft, sony is always giving away trailers, updates, trying to advance the medium (vr, eye toy) etc. and building relationships (apple camera).

Grown adults doesn't mean shit unless you project your own meaning on it's abstract concept and go from there which you do.

No Ill intent meant.

I'm sure you're not daft as such to not see how these models can serve people.

I want to see the evidence that subscription services reduce game quality. I've saved quite a bit due to sub services and it's nice to have different options to play games. Makes it easy to play with friends when you know they are also on the service and have access to the same games.

I don’t understand how you can play 4 games a year and post on a gaming forum, it’s like posting PornHub comments every day when you nut twice a year.

If you play more than 4 games a year (which is straight up casual territory) a sub probably saves you money.

OK, list five full-length new release games on Gamepass that would have been worth my time to play this year.

I save an insane amount of money. I like to play literally as much as possible and buy a ton of indies. Getting new drops literally every week really hits the dopamine itch to spend.
Yep. And you get the book club effect of everyone jumping on these releases and comparing notes and opinions. Some of the views here are really revealing of the authors, if a post positive of both main consoles, subscriptions, and buying games, manages to have them stoop to childish insults.

As responses go there are many good one here but couple are shit out of 10. Is it my fault that i picked games i did not do research??, what kind of research i had to do before playing ff7 to find that i don't like it except watching a trailers and reading people praises about it and maybe a review. Are you buying a game or are you investing on a new life changing opportunity? Someone claimed subscription is for poor people, so instead of paying a amount per month to play couple games i have to go buy Valhalla and then hit my head why i didn't like it ? Being rich and idiot is more painful that being poor and reasonable, at least being poor can be worked around.

Yes. Same way I used to use Block Buster (and mom & pop rental places) back in the day except I was not obligated to pay on months I did not rent a game. GameFly and others have also worked very similarly with the ability to choose a title from any console with the subscription. What Game Pass and PS+ have brought to the table is being able to do this without leaving the house but it does come with being locked to specific content and relying on multiple subscriptions to take advantage of both consoles. I'm not knocking it; it is great and the pricing is fantastic right now. It's just there has always been the ability to try games before buying them.

Yeah I also buy maybe 3 or 4 games a year .. just don’t have to time or want anymore to buy every game “ just because “ which is why game pass type of subs just are not for me.

Imagine thinking spending $120 a year to rent a bunch of games was saving money.

New games are $50- $70 if you play more than three games you are saving a lot of money.

I don’t know what’s worth your time but games I’ve finished this year on GP include:
- Weird West
- Hitman 2 & 3 (in Hitman trilogy)
- Plague Tale Requiem
- Total War Warhammer 3
- Signalis

All of those are full length, then you have shorter games like Shredder’s Revenge, Infernax or Immortality.

I don’t see what this has to do with my point though, if I had little free time I’d cut on the posting before cutting on the playtime.
