How would you move [franchise] forward?

I believe there some franchises right now that are at a point where they can move forward, but the way they do it could define them, or it's unknown what they would do for a next game. Examples:

1) God of War (Kratos): I might be in the minority, but I really like that they went in the direction of Faye (although I actually though they would go with Atreus), because what do you do with Kratos right now at the point where his story is at? Obviously many people want him to visit another mythology, but II feel like doing so, it would turn the franchise in something like Assassin's Creed where the next game is just going into a different era.

Having Faye as a main character will allow the story to move forward and allow Kratos to have a reason to do something else, and then have a good reason to fight other gods, or move places.

2) The Legend of Zelda: Everybody is hyped about Ocarina of Time remake, and it needs to be amazing (probably it will), but where is the next going. While Breath of the Wild was revolutionary for the franchises, it had many aspects that fans didn't really like (breakable weapons, lack of dungeons, lackluster story). BOTW and TOTK did something that moved the franchises forward a lot which is voice acting, and the open world needs to stay.
The way I'd move the franchise forward is simple: Mix both Zelda styles into one. The game cannot stay 100% open since it complicates many things, so they could make it so that the story is linear, while the gameplay stays open. To me the best way they can do it, is something like The Witcher 3. Make items return, but useful in many ways like how metroidvanias do.

3) Star Fox: After the amazing remake, they need to continue the hype. They need to expand the lore and characters. Gameplay-wise, they can continue to do the exact same thing, but expanded. Bigger worlds/levels, maybe utilize more combinations of linear and dog fights, while also using more than one vehicle in the same level. However, have the gameplay still be a rail shooter.

4) Metroid: New story, keep it 2D but make it epic. I think Metroid will have a better chance if it rest the 3D style for a bit. Although, I guess this is not a popular opinion.

What is a franchise you like and how would you move it forward to have a great success for the next game?

Shining Force needs to return to solid SRPG gameplay and storytelling. Fire Emblem has continued while the Shining series has been squandered. Repair relations with Camelot Software and request them to continue where they left off from the Shining Force 3 trilogy.

If Phantasy Star is poised to continue being an online action RPG series, then look to the first Phantasy Star Online and ape its aesthetic and vibe. If single player JRPG, then ape Phantasy Star 4's aesthetic and vibe.
