Glad you enjoy it.
Personally i didn't like it, that game was a disappointment to me, I remember i was very excited when i bought it, it was around 2018 if im not mistaken, heard all the praise for years and decided to finally give it a shot.
At the first like 5 hours i was having fun, i liked how the night system works, dungeons felt interesting and grand in scale, the combat looked flashy and the character creation system was amazing.
Few hours later after the prologue is finished i started feeling the fatigue, as soon as i went out of the first village i started noticing things i didnt like.
Environments that looks bland and lifeless, there's few visual details or visual awe in the world, its so basic and bland it basically looked like an mmo i played in high school days, ambience is forgettable (except at night), i dont particularly have any memories of any sounds or music maybe because i didnt play it for too long lol.
I found exploring the world very tedious, aside from the visuals and the sounds, what started bothering me after i left the city is that monsters keep respawning, there was a quest where i have to do some escort and harpey attack it, its so repetitive and boring. You reach a town along the way, fight a boss and eventually i reached the city, there you pick up quests and do a variety of things. What bothered me there was that backtracking to other cities is also a tedious act, you have stamina and when you run it consumes them, basically i found traversal boring and tedious, there was no mount and no fast travel so i was stuck with running around from city to city which takes quite the time and stamina needs to be refilled and its easily depleted which annoyed me, even worse is that enemies respawn and your pawns never shut up, so its all repetitive and repetitive.
The combat has depth for sure, and magic in the game feels awesome to cast but also i found it floaty and lacks feedback, when you land a hit, there's no dismemberment or gore, its like you are hitting a spoonge, idk mechanically its alright, you can spam your button over and over for flashy attacks, and the depth in skills and classes is great but the feel of it isn't there.
And last of all i found the quests and the stories in general to be bad, dialogue, characters and presentation wise.
I kept pushing for like 30-35 hours, until i stopped playing, i think i vastly prefer Souls style over it. I think good combat can have some subjectivity into it, like for me, Elden Ring combat demolishes it, but for many others in this thread Dragon's Dogma has better combat so idk, for me a combat system with flashy moves where you do cool acrobatic moves and style on enemies is not enough to put it over a methodical weighty combat system that feels grounded and real.
I dont deny that its combat is overall good though, i just dont think its the best thing ever.
So to conclude i didnt like the game sadly, for reasons above and more, but i am excited to try out the sequel, i think with some polish and after adjusting some of the game design choices this franchise could turn out great. I hope they dont just focus on combat, because this is one of the games that convinced me, combat alone can't carry open world games, they need to put some work in other areas too, otherwise it will be another mediocrity.
