Here is God of War re-imagined in Unreal Engine 5

TeaserPlay has shared a new video, showcasing what a God of War game could look like in Unreal Engine 5. In order to create this fan remake of God of War, TeaserPlay took advantage of Lumen, Nanite, Ray Tracing and Metahuman (for creating the faces of both Kratos and Zeus).

Now while this fan remake uses Lumen and Ray Tracing, it appears to be still relying on screen-space reflections. For instance, you can see the SSR artifacts in the water at 1:00. Now while the character models of Kratos and Zeus are OK, the running and walking animations of Kratos are awful. As with most of TeaserPlay’s fan videos, the key focus are the environments (which by the way look great).

You can check out TeaserPlay’s previous fan remakes/recreations in Unreal Engine 5. For instance, you can find remakes and concept trailers of Red Dead Revolver, Far Cry 7, Dark Souls 4 and Resident Evil 4 Remake. There are also remakes of Assassin’s Creed Infinity, Fallout New Vegas, Silent Hill, Dino Crisis, Bully, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto III.

Different channel, same concept, and similar execution, though the latter is up for debate; Bioshock in Unreal Engine 5:

The lip sync on Zeus is funny as shit, he never purses his lips at all, he wouldn't be able to make w sounds. Also, why are Kratos eyelashes so long?!

The Bioshock one leaves me with a puzzled frown too, mostly due to thinking about how people will say theses sorts of things are "amazing", sort of a shit/shinola situation I guess.

Lets see Unreal Engine 3 reimagined in Unreal Engine 5 next.

So all of you talking smack, you guys can at least appreciate the person's passion even if you don't like what they made, it doesn't take your energy to be constructive with actual productive criticism to help the person get better. Will await the predicted witty comment...

Other than that, Music from 3, Golden Fleece from 2... took me out of it. Either way, looks cool but not entierly the best. I liked his world building but not exactly the charaters. Instantly recognized some places from the original, couldn't make out the rest. Looked like a mix of Ryse and Senhua. Either way good effort... and was one of the blades crumpling on his back or is that a cloth?

Reverse groomer.
cut down on all the needless reflections and shiny objects, and then we're talking
the environments look great, it's just that the lighting is clearly overexposed and too shiny, and it falls into the reflection syndrome of so many of these graphic mods and remakes which make the game look uglier overall
And yeah, the animations are a joke. You can tell they were manually animated by an amateur who didnt really know how to handle such detailed and meticulously crafted models.
The running animation especially gets me.... like this would be fitting in a Mario game, not fuckin God of War. Look towards the originals on PS2 if you want good tips on how to animate someone like Kratos

lol I doubt that the creator sincerely cares what some randos on Gaf think of his projects.
If he ever needs constructive criticism, I'm sure he has people or creative communities he trusts for that sort of thing, as most creatives do.

I hate to crap on it because someone spent time working on it but wow that's bad, those waterfalls looks terrible, the models look odd etc.

do not tempt fate do not contrain Wonder Woman's thighs do not do not

This might be the worst one yet.....and thats saying something because alot of these are really trash.

That water shader is beyond fuck you did you even try.
How you using UE5 yet still have textures and lighting loading in....did you not change any settings at all?
Inconsistent Parallax, Normals and/or Model detail.
That Kratos character model is an abomination.

Can we please stop posting these silly fan projects if they arent actually good.
Or just make an OT purely for shitty UE reimaginings.

All the technical power in the world can't fix bad art direction.

That's the issue with far too many of these fan-made UE recreations, they lack visual cohesion and plant firmly in that uncanny valley.
Someone did an especially bad one for Sonic. They even named it - "Sonic Frontiers". Can you imagine if Sega actually released a game that looked like that?
