Damn, that damage control crew is working overtime. You all will survive if Xbox wins a couple of weeks in Japan. By the way, both have to deal with the current chip situation, or are you suggesting Sony isn't as capable at aquiring chips and that's why they have problems putting consoles on shelves. I wouldn't think so.

See that's only because japanese authorities can't talk to young people.
They need to present it as this: Each time you have a kid there's a tiny chance you'll "pull" a rare 5 starts kid that might go on to win a nobel prize, cure cancer or at least become a famous actor.
The more kids you have the more chances of pulling a rare 5 stars one. The government could even start a program where they send parents of successful kids a rare Jpeg.

You can sell like millions of consoles but your software sales is just as bad.
Just take a look at Famitsu sales you know what kind of games a Japanese gamer prefers.
In the end, console sales is just for flexing purpose in social media, nothing more.
Gamepass is the only thing that matters for Xbox in Japan and whether how successful Xbox is, depends on the number of gamepass subscription.

Some people care deeply about their plastic box outselling the other one.
As someone with only a Ps5 I'd love for Xbox to outsell them in most markets. Nothing drives a company towards consumer friendliness like stiff competition

Both have to deal with the chip situation, but Xbox has the Series S which we've seen to be much more plentiful and easier to produce than the X, which is probably about as hard to make as a PS5.
Not that they aren't doing anything else competently but obviously the easy and cheap availability of the S is a HUGE part of the success over there.

Here in NZ PS5 sold out for months. Every shipment gets decimated and if anything is made available online, its gone like in seconds.
My local electronics store has 150 on waiting list and they've been on that list since last year.
This thing is impossible to get unless you're willing to pay double the price scalpers are currently charging.

Yep. I've given up because I've wanted one for months and I've heard from someone who has a relative working fairly high up in one of these electronics stores, that they get like 4 consoles a month. FOUR !!!
Just called last week again and I've been told they don't know when next PS5 shipment is due. No date, no nothing.
