Hbomberguy: Fallout New Vegas is Genius, And Here's Why

Love hbomberguy? Can't stand him? Think he's the bane of the gaming industry? Ambivalent to him? Well, here's a big fat video he made about how Fallout New Vegas is great and I think you should watch it regardless! Enjoy, grab some snacks, discuss, and gush about Fallout New Vegas over here!

I liked him, then I disliked him and then I forgot about him.

edit - The game seems cool though, I stopped watching because I'll give it a go in the new year.

You can finish 30% of the main quest in the time it takes you to watch that video.
It's genius because it takes the decent Oblivion With Guns gameplay loop, adds internal consistency and sprinkles some meaningful choices on top (mostly in the branching quests but also with the masterful perk selection).

Bonus points for the arsenal overhaul and DLC. It's mildly engaging without being a monstrous subsystem like in Fallout 4.

I still haven't played the expansions because I can't muster the enthusiasm to finish that retarded casino quest. I'd rather play Operation: Anchorage ten times over that.

What time is it?
I played this game for ten hours, and while I appreciate the craft that went into it, I stopped playing because it is simply not fun.

Farther than I got. I missed New Vegas when it initially released and I've tried several times to start this adventure but I just can't handle going back into that engine with those animations and combat mechanics.

new vegas may be good. but san andreas is better. fallout's world is empty and dead. no police ai. can't have meaningful conversations with random npcs. can't sit on every chair. can't change my body shape.

I had a discussion about NV the other day. It’s obviously still worth talking about, one way or the other.

NV never clicked for me in the same way that 3 did. Maybe it’s because it’s designed for you to play it many times and I didn’t, but even comparing first run to first run something about it didn’t make me want to stay in that world for hundreds of hours.

I didn't play NV on 360 much.

I loved F3 and covered almost the entire map. I don't know how many hours I sunk into it, but a lot, especially since the loads times are awful. After beating the game, I purposely reloaded an old save and and took the super mutant NPC with me to clear out endless buildings and side quests. I think I cleared out about 80-90% of the entire map.

Maybe it was burn out, but I bailed ship maybe 5-6 hours in roaming the land in NV. I know some reasons I bailed was it was such a boring brown setting. Maybe I didn't get to the good parts, but I just saw brown everywhere. Even the default HUD is orange or tan. I changed it.

You find mutant sand bugs, random bandits, and there was major animation/glitching going on which I never saw in F3. NPCs glitching through walls and was stuck in the ceiling!

Of course I read they patched the game good. But by that time my interest was lost. Maybe if it was patched good from day one I would have stuck around longer to see better parts of the game.

Ha, this is exactly my same experience. Just last week I remembered about him, and checked out some of his videos again. Then I remembered why I stopped watching him. He had some genuinely great analysis videos, but then I think success went to his head. He transformed into a pretentious prick, and I can't stand him.

Exactly mate, not the place for it but I also really dislike his politics, funny how he doesn't apply critical thinking to that part of his life!

I never played it,but I am playing The Outer Worlds right now(my first Obsidian game),and I can see why New Vegas is probably so loved...all the choices with dialogue and stuff is lots of fun to explore.

I agree. It's the best fallout game, easy.

That said, it's been getting blown nonstop since it's release a decade ago. Everyone knows why it's great, so the take seems kind of pointless.

Seems a bit unnecessary, everyone knows that and there’s no debate about it. It’s the only time a first person Fallout was close to the quality of the old style RPG ones.

It’s a good reminder of how good Obsidian can be on a good day.

This content creator is insufferable.

Yep. Plus anyone who genuinely supports awful cunts like GamerGhazi can fuck off.

Not to mention he is also openly Marxist. Dude is just all kinds of cuntish.

Heh. I'm all for making content about things you love... but is anyone really adding nearly two hours of new insight into the conversation at this point? New Vegas is generally regarded as one of the greatest RPGs ever made; in 2021, you're not telling anyone anything they don't already know. I expect equally hard hitting, insightful videos in the future from this lad, such as:
  • Ocarina of Time: Nintendo's forgotten masterpiece.
  • In defense of The Witcher 3.
  • Why Deus Ex is actually genius.
  • You owe a lot to Doom, and you might not even know it.

Which is why I prefer smaller youtubers who just want to talk about what they love and with clear passion. Why the games mean so much to them. Anyone with two eyes can see that New Vegas is a good game and why its beloved. Any retard can see that DOOM had a massive influence on the industry.

I want to know *why* they like the games. *why* it means so much to them. What they went through, were thinking, and how it affected them.

Its why I love youtubers like HappyConsoleGamer and despise cunts like Hbomberguy, Mathewmotosis, and other "lol im super intellectual because I repeat obvious shit for 2+ hours".

The best of the "modern" Fallout games. I don't understand why it was not released on current gen or even last gen consoles. Either there is some deal that would give Obsidian money or Bethesda doesn't want newer players to experience how much better Fallout was before the garbage entries that are Fallout 4 and 76. Hell, I would take a Fallout 3 release over the feces they are peddling nowadays.

I should probably get a Steam Deck and get it over with, the only problem is I have to wait until forever for it.

Never heard of him before but I've only ever heard great things about New Vegas. I did own it at one point, still might, never got around to playing it though.

He's right, one of the best games i've played, i loved it, always wanted a sequel. a good remaster would do as well.

It's Noah Caldwell-Gervais' favourite game, that's enough for me.. i played it though and perceived that the part of me that could get the most out of it was expended on Oblivion.
