Ok played more last evening and a little bit of a night. Total of 7 hours.
I’m genuinely blown away in a positive way.
It is an Arkane game like I stated previously, combat, animations, skills are feeling at home but for those who think this is just another Dishonored then you are in a big surprise.
This is no doubt roguelike game but with AAA quality and highly detailed world with super cool locations and quite unique progression system.
Every single weapon, trinket or slab (equivalent of a container with special skill) can be permanently saved by using special “glitched” items (as a form of currency) scattered around the world - also killing one of the 8 “visionaries” or Julianna who tried to hunts you down gives you this.
All equipment is randomised as you can image with the exceptions, One of the 8 visionaries drops specific unique weapon with their own unique perks, so there is some guaranteed loot that you can get which is really cool and somewhat missed in today’s games with RPG elements.
For example, one of them drops hand cannon that can either leave cloud of poison that can be fired up to explode or with special marking system so enemy takes more damage. She also leaves skill from Dishonored 2 that makes enemies to share their damage and die at once together but if you kill her again you will get one of the upgrades for it.
There are also A LOT of nuances related to loops, days And their 4 parts, far too many to write down and probably better to experience yourself.
Graphics are great, 60 FPS are holding up very well for 99% of time - I had two very short frame drops and game glitched once so I had to restart it in order to progress. So not bad for 7 hours.
I will repeat it again, dualsense does wonders, shooting feels amazing because of it, you ever loved to shoot hand canon in Destiny? You are for a treat then.
Honestly? If this gets mediocre reviews I’m losing all the hope for this industry moving past bloated shit like AC Valhalla because Deathloop is just a breath of fresh air in this otherwise stale AAA world of video games.
Loving it.
Forgot to mention - if you like Tarantino movies, this is your game.
