Just played a couple of matches. No spartan charge and ground pound is nice. The bots are a bit easy though. The AR is also a pretty viable weapon. Can't wait for the full release.

Some of the menus don't seem to do anything though. I tcked the boxed where it would show me the ping of my games and I can't see what my ping is in game.

One other thing, I am getting some ghosting on the vertivcal lines on the structures when I turn the camera. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just my fucking Samsung tvs inverse ghosting? I set the sharpening in the game menu to 0 which seemed to help a bit, but it is still visible. Could someone do have a look on their tv please??

look back on halo 1/2/3 maps. they were mostly symmetrical and designed around strategic points. 343 maps are more natural

MCC and Halo 5 with classic playlist feels infinitely better ti play

halo has always been unique, just let it. if you want to be impatient and thoughless while moving across a map and simply want to engage as quickly and frequently as possible then you have llenty of other games as options. there is no point in halo if its not halo

Clamber sucks because it eliminates thoughtful movement and encourages rambo style play. mix in sprint and halo 5 gameplay is whittled down to racing in laps around the map guns blazing.

ground pound is awful because its a cheap kill that was afforded to it by clamber
That sounds like things someone who wasn’t very good at halo 5 would say tbh. Halo 5 had the highest skill ceiling of any halo game to date thanks to all of the new movement.

Sprint and clamber don’t “eliminate thoughtful movement and encourage Rambo style play” lol. They’re not all about just getting to the action as soon as possible.

oh damn forgot about the Spartan charge too! So they’ve removed half the new movement and attack options from 5 that made it so good.

Clamber had tonnes of hate because it supposedly changed how levels were made. People complained that now there were jumps that would previously been out of reach, so levels have been made to require climbing, as if that is inherently a bad thing. People basically just bashed everything that wasn't an exact replica of Halo 1-3.

Yep I can't play 1-3 MP anymore, they're a relic of the past when twin stick shooters weren't the norm, when people weren't used to fast and frenzied movement in first person shooters, especially on consoles.
Bet a new halo with classic gameplay would have as much sucess as CS GO 👌🏿 and not last 1 or 2 years like *cough* h5 or 4

Completely disagree. A slow and lumbering halo 1-3 game released in 2021 would be the worst selling and received game in the series.

Master Chief Collection exists and isn’t CS GO level is it? MCCs existence should keep the old style of games fans happy, but it doesn’t.

I said a NEW HALO, new maps, new campaign, new (decent) weapons, new everything but the gameplay, not a fucking re-release of a game I've been play for the last 20 years or whatever, but anyway this infinite gameplay seems better than H5, a bit slower, apart for some horrible new weapons in my opinion but whatever

I know it's not the focus of this flight but going into the weapon test and seeing everything around you loading looks really bad. That's with a XSX

I still feel like the game is a tad too fast paced. If rather a game which allowed plasma weapons to not just be duplicate copies of their human alternatives in terms of say, the plasma pistol just being a crappy hit scan weapon. I liked travelling projectiles.

Also some of the weapons have awful... either sound effects or mixing currently.

you clearly fell for the Placebo that is the sprint ability in Infinite.

the sprint in Infinite is exactly 2% faster than the normal walking speed.

this is literally an illusion of speed. Halo Reach ranked is way faster than Infinite.
base movement in Infinite is about as fast as Reach, but Reach in ranked mode (which is played with MLG settings) is 120% base Reach speed, so ~17-18% faster than Infinite while sprinting

and defending clamber is just an admission that you don't give a shit about gamedesign and just want to have every shooter be the same as CoD because it's "modern"

in conclusion
Sprint is useless, clamber dumbs down gameplay and map design, they took out nade jumps so you have to use single purpose equipment instead... it's just objectively worse than classic Halo

PC peeps, try setting your Minimum Frame Rate to what your Max is. I set my Min and Max to 120. Im now getting 60fps.
I’m playing on a 55” LG C8. My pc is good enough to be able to run this native 4K/60/ultra, yet I’m running it at 1440p, medium settings, and the frame rate is still choppy. The Xbox Series X version is playing like butter. My Pc has an intel i9 9900k, EVGA 2080ti, and 32 GB of ram. I set the minimum/maximum to 60fps, running at 1440p, turned graphic settings to medium. Don’t know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated folks. Maybe it’s not as optimized for pc just yet, as it is on console.

I haven’t fallen for anything, I’m talking about halo 5 because I haven’t played infinite.

If you can’t understand how sprint and clamber and dash open up whole new possibilities then there’s no point discussing this.

Sprint in Halo 5 is also slower than base movement in Reach Ranked mode... so it's still slower.

also clamber doesn't open anything, the maps are deliberately designed so that you HAVE TO use it. and using it slows down gameplay and movement. if the maps were instead designed with grenade jumps in mind they would not only feel more dynamic but also give players way more interesting risk/reward options. instead you have pre determined points where you climb up to, slowing you down and making everything dumbed down basically.

with the physics in Halo 1-3 and Reach you could experiment, you could find your own strategies and ways to get to certain spots. grenade jumps of different kinds (using frag nades, Brute shot, plasma nades or the super risky rocket launcher crouch jump) gave players ways to experiment and in the moment descision making.

the lack of clamber and sprint meant that every intended or unintended player found trick jump can be made while walking/looking in any direction, this means skilled players can do trick jumps WHILE walking backwards + being in an active gunfight with an opponent. Clamber and sprint mean you need to be locked into an animation and specific direction to do intended and many found trick jumps.

there is no depth to sprint and clamber, it's just a less dynamic way to traverse the map that locks you out of multiple abilities while doing it, and the maps are deliberately stretched to accommodated both which has been demonstrated by the community for years now. The fasted movement Halo ever had was Halo Reach MLG rules, which is the rules you play in Reach ranked on MCC for example. it's faster than Halo 5 sprint and it retains all the advanced movement tech of Halo

in Halo 5 you still can grenade jump of course (Infinite seems to have removed it which is just... shitty) , but all it does is drain your shields while giving you no real advantage because clamber is a thing that is safer but less dynamic.

basically "advanced mobility", as 343i calls it in Halo 5, is just them making every bit of classic Halo movement tech, that could be seen as too tricky for noobs, irrelevant by giving the players easier and more mainstream/casual alternatives copied over from other games... all while ruining map design to accomodate for the sprint mechanic

Welp.

well it honestly would be a waste not to have a BR mode. Halo is an arena shooter, Battle Royale is basically a last man standing Arena Shooter mode on a giant map

(also people already made their own BR modes in Halo 5, so if the Forge mode is even more advanced this time, a fan made BR mode would be out within a week)

So much wrong with this lol.

You’re acting like clamber can’t be used on any ledge in the game, only predetermined ledges that were properly made higher than normal.

You’re also thinking that “faster movement” is all that the dash and sprint give you, which is wrong.

clamber can of course be used on any ledge, but so can grenade jumps in classic Halo, with the difference being that grenade jumps you do in the heat of the moment need way more skill, intuition and map knowledge to pull off. Clamber is just the noob iteration of that so that the poor little CoD players can get up ledges instead of bouncing off of the wall because they're too shit to nail the jump.

clamber is only needed in halo 5 because intended paths are stretched vertically so you can't use a normal jump to get up. and in trick jumps, like I said, it's just a replacement for harder to pull of and riskier options you already had in classic Halo (and you still have in Halo 5 but toned down and useless due to clamber)

I am actually not opposed to dashing, but the implementation in Halo 5 was just dogshit due to A: lowering your weapon while doing it like every fucking ability in 5, slowing down combat... and B: it just felt like ass

so I'm not going against dashing... that's in fact the only ability I would add to classic Halo gameplay... but like I said, not like Halo 5 where it sucks... weapon UP AT ALL TIMES! and less clunky plz

the current Flight is not joinable anymore, people that got in got their invites (but maybe they do a surprise invite party during the last day who knows?) but for future chances to get invited you need to sign up for the insider program on Halowaypoint.com

I am fairly upset since whenever they mentioned Insider I thought they meant the Xbox Insider program which I am a part of. I didn’t know there was another Halo specific Insider program.

Really annoyed.

That sucks.

Just didn’t realize they meant a Halo specific Insider program. Would have signed up ages ago if I knew.

I signed up now but obviously not getting in.

Laaaaaame.

I’m gonna be real - I liked Halo 5’s multiplayer actually a lot. The old ones aged imo - BUT I have played MCC a lot and that - this feels like a great mix. In fact much more on old halos side - but kinda updated I guess? Halo 3 ish. The result is I am not as good at it as halo 5 but yeah
