Halo Infinite campaign can't be played right now, even if you have the disc.

It's still not unlocked on pc gamepass in Poland... it's 10pm here. Almost 9th lol

But what real value in 2021 does the disk being able to play without accessing the internet? For the 0.0001% time when the net is down? If you can't wait that long without saying the sky is falling, you have other problems anyhow. I'd love to know what percentage of those owning a $500 game machine don't have fast reliable internet? 0.0000001%?
Yet another halo thread to complain about nothing for 300 posts......

It has been the 9th here for 8 hours and it only unlocked for me an hour ago. Happy I can play it now but I have to finish some other things first. Not working today AND it's raining outside, perfect conditions!

Step outside your inner-city American bubble for a moment and educate yourself on the realities faced by a large proportion of the ROTW.

Even if you do have internet, almost no one has internet that is 99.9999% reliable. You're delusional or lying if you think your home internet is that reliable.

Pressing play from the game pass app just brings up the microsoft store, lol. Starting it from steam doesn't acknowledge the game pass... Well done, 343.

Have to redownload and reinstall, maybe that will work.

Yeah, this whole Infinite launch has been wild.

And I thought it was weird that at 12 am I couldnt install the campaign, and I'm using Game Pass.

I didnt this shit had layers to it. ...Jesus Christ.

Oh, do folks now that you have to install the 4GB update first, and let that install completely before even finding or installing the campaign?

The past couple of hours have been wild, lol.

So nobody worldwide was able to play this game and yet Halo Infinite is winning the player's choice GOTY award? What a scam. I hope Geoff deletes it.

Oh come on, the MP is FREE and we got it 3 weeks early. Yes I was surprised with how they handed the campaign download, but it's not a big deal.

Yes, now please pass this along to everyone else that thought the same as me. Trust me I wasnt alone. Its our fault for thinking it was like any other digital game., that unlocks at 12 am.

Well, this thread is about the campaign. Might be a shock to some ppl, but some of us dont care about MP that much. Wether its Halo or anything else. I rarely play online.

Someone should have made it clear the campaign should get treated like The Division or Destiny. Especially for ppl that bought the disc.

Looking at Steamcharts, maybe this is all about pegging metrics to the free HALO multiplayer for all of HALO Infinite. Making the campaign DLC (sure, nothing to see here folks). Definitely "tinfoil hat" territory, but it is an odd SKU choice (especially when combined with players who buy the technically DLC, not able to actually play the game from disc, which sounds like it only actually includes the MP).

When you're this clueless, you probably shouldn't post at all.

Not sure why you got a TRIGGERED emote for this (actually I know why I was speaking more rhetorically). I can't remember a single disc purchase that I placed into the PS4 that didn't just install from the disc. If the person you're responding to is talking about Day 1 patches, that is an entirely different thing: you have the disc, you have everything you need.

. . .or you used to.

Not just about the campaign though; which is why people are still talking about this after the fact, despite the countless number of people scratching their chins and pontificating: "What, you don't got the intertube!?"

What kind of transparent bullshit is this. I thought MS was the most transparent and pro consumer company in the world? and this is kind of the opposite. So, if i am on my own submarine traversing the seven seas where no internet connection is possible, i won't be able to play the best Halo game of all time? This is hot trash! the disc is useless and the discs and packages were only created to pollute the world even more.

This is literally worse than most Switch download schemes.

The disc is only Mortal Kombat 11. All of the "Ultimate" content is via a download code. The PS4 version isn't like that, it has the full game on the disc. But for some baffling reason WB made the PS5 disc just MK11 and all the Ultimate stuff a code; meaning it's not possible to buy a used version of this game. It's basically an Online Pass.
I was close to buying this on Black Friday. Thank God I didn't. Thanks for posting this.

Can you provide some actual proof or at least a mountain of anecdotal evidence to suggest your position is correct? And yes my home internet is that reliable, if on the odd chance its down, I could rely on 5g as a backup as well.

I think he's more referring to your member name being a physical format...

Oh that stupid user name.....I've had it for so long I don't even think about it........true, it's just old and stuck........too stubborn to change it........

No, because the claim that home internet is 99.999% reliable and that everyone has super-fast internet was made by you, so the burden of proof to justify this absurd claim is on you.

Do you own fucking dirty work and google it yourself and you'll quickly see how misinformed you are.

Your the one arguing, and somehow the burden of proof is on me? Absurd. So basically you have nothing.

Does COD lock their SP campaign to an online activation?

No, just the green light and abandon thread, lol.

My bad; I only guessed at it being a COD reference, though the second GIF, on third viewing, is (probably) not from the series in question and should have been my first clue.
DeepEnigma DeepEnigma it’s like triple funny / ironic because COD was indeed a relatively early purveyor of the BS DRM required patch to play the campaign. It was crap then and crap now.
A vast majority of physical games are just keys for a download. This, plus more and more games are becoming live services, online only multiplayer titles, require huge day one patches and soon will be loaded with NFTs. Physical media doesn't make sense in the future of gaming.
I assure you that there are many many discs and carts that have single player and local multiplayer on the disc. I’ve got about 130 PS4/Switch titles myself that work just fine without touching the net.
Just get the digital version. If you have to have a physical copy the PS4 version has it all across two discs.
You’re right on that one. PS4 is the way to go. I do wonder if you’re right and Netherrealm just cheaped on a 50GB disc for the PS5 version or something. Regardless it’s quite the fail on their part.

No tissues needed: not watching porn and not playing Halo. Also unsurprising this is the apex of your argument.

Is this a reference to COD? Does COD lock their SP campaign to an online activation? If we're talking about WARZONE, it is pretty clear you need to download that as WARZONE isn't available anyway else. For all intents and purposes there's no reason to lock SP content to online other than to implement a version of online drm.

Not only CoD, but they have done this with 100% single player games too. With Spyro Trilogy only one game was one the disc.

It's 2021. The entire world is online. People like to pretend that someday they'll be in the amazon rainforest with their console and not be able to play their games. They better not find out that even the amazon rainforest will have internet shortly due to Starlink

That's not even the point. One of the biggest issues people have with this stuff is activation servers going under. There's games that don't work without mods on PC due to servers going down for single player content. See: GFWL.

Why do digital-only people act like it's appalling that someone wants to own a physical copy of a game? You don't see physical-only types hoping there's no way to buy games digitally. Must be some kind of snag in the brain where your favorite corporate brand doesn't like it, then no one else can.

If MS ever shuts down Azure you'll have bigger things to worry about then not being able to play a video game.

Dude there are offline games you can’t play because different things. If it’s worth it someone will make it work.

And? How does that invalidate what I'm saying? If the single player content needs to check into a server, people don't like that. For the most part, physical media does not require that.

Are some of you aware you are the consumers and you can't like a product and be critical of things in place?

Seriously though, in 20 years, if halo infinite won't play, and your for some reason dying and desperate to play this ancient game, you could probably just play the halo master master master cheif collection. Sometimes I swear the "physical types" act like you aren't going to be able to eat or something if you can't fire up halo a quarter of a century later......

I forgot about that. I have my first PC CD-Rom game from the early 90s, Mad Dog McCree and it still launches. Even my burned CDs from 1997 work just fine. Maybe disc rot happens more frequent when people have roach infested homes lol
Houses looking like RE7 and shit.

Thank you! Very well said. I love digital distribution. It’s great. I’ve even come around to the concept of game pass. It’s like the digital version of a blockbuster video. I can check out all kinds of games without wasting my money for a purchase.

none of that cancels my desire to have the thing I purchase (like physical media)

Yeah. Get with it. Nobody ever gets fired for buying IBM. (Let’s just ignore this tiny concern and go back to playing GFWL games on PC and downloading windows phone apps.)

I wonder if you could have a class action suit that states when you sell software on a disk, the software must actually be on the disk.
When purchasing software on a disk, one is acquiring a license to run said software. You are still bound to their TOS which includes when said software is available to use and subject to any distribution method they decide.

I agree with your sentiment in principle. Welcome to the future.
