GTA Online: after 5 years, the casino could finally be about to open

It looks likely that after more than five years, the casino in GTA Online will finally open.

GTA Online’s casino has been on the Los Santos map since day one, but unlike locations such as the Bolingbroke Penitentiary – which opened as part of the Heists update – players have never been able to enter the building or gamble there.

But recent script changes, mined by TezFunz2 – one of the original GTA Online dataminers with a history of accuracy – suggest a series of timed changes will update the casino in-game until it eventually opens up its doors.

There have been multiple rumours that Rockstar would open the casino in GTA Online before, but aside from exploitation of money glitches there’s always been the overhanging concern of gambling in a game that lets you purchase in-game GTA$ via Shark Cards with real-world money.

However, a recent change to Rockstar’s other open-world game, Red Dead Online, has introduced poker. Red Dead Online has two currencies; gold bars and dollars. Gold bars can be bought with real-world money, but dollars, which are used for gambling in-game, can’t.

If GTA Online was to introduce a second currency – chips, for instance – it would finally make the casino a viable and new location for Los Santos residents. It also makes sense that Rockstar would trial gambling live in Red Dead Online before introducing it to its real money spinner, GTA Online.

I reckon mansions are tied to this in some way. At least I hope so.

Oh and.......

GTA online is the worst thing could happen to the franchise. We would have had another gta by now if it was not for the sharcards. More casino means more sharkcards gambling. The faster the Microstrasactions are banned, the better.

Yeah if you want developers to lose their jobs.

Despite the PC version being overrun with hackers and cheaters, I had a pretty good time with the After Hours update so I'll probably reinstall to check this out as well.

Or the industry can take a hard look at themselves. Devs dont lose their jobs if there are bo microtransactions. Or did a lot of people at CDPR lose their jobs after Witcher 3?

Stop stanning for these million dollar corps where the bigwigs earn millions and devs get a throwaway stack of cash.

Did you read about the pay for the employees at CDPR compared to the rest of the industry though?

No I didnt, but Poland isnt America and wages are probably correct to the countries wages.

Either way, it's not up to me, but the jndustry is totally fucked and skewed towards the bigwigs at the top. People like Andrew Wilson make millions, while the devs have to scrounge for food.

The industry shaped itself this way, with more pressure being put on microtransactions, if they dont sell the devs get the shaft.

Thats not up to me to change, but ppl stanning for these million dollar corps get me worked up.

If their way of making money are those sharkcards, lootboxes and other crap like that.
Yeah hope they will, the more the better.

I don't see difference between them and people who convince old people to buy ton of garbage because old people don't know any better.

Well....I'm not stanning for them. I'm just saying getting rid of MTX isn't going to happen AND gamers actually do like them. Don't lie to yourself and believe that we all hate all forms of MTXs.

Knowing the way things are with R* these days you will probably have to own a mansion or something to be able to enter the casino in the first place. I honestly wouldn't put it past them.

Is there any legal exposure for R* with this?

If paying real money for in-game currency to buy loot boxes, which is compared to gambling, raises eyebrows, then I imagine paying real money to buy in-game currency to *directly* gamble would be even more suspicious...

Edit: I should have read the OP to the end...

What's the status of the single player though? Last time i played it a few years ago there were plenty of unused/empty areas like the prison, an empty bank you could enter or the horse race stadium.

Basically, has the single player changed through all this time?

I'd seriously even be happy for some single player DLC but nope. Just a bunch of kids jerking off online doing the same thing everyday.

Rockstar hasn't touched single player and i doubt they ever will. Its all about feeding the GTA Online whales shark cards.

I've commented about this so many times but GTAV lacking an enhanced version for the Pro and X is slap in the face to the supportive community. They have received so much coin for GTAV and it's online and it's fucking unacceptable.. I'm absolutely livid. It looks very outdated on a 4K screen and they still expect us to keep playing and support it! Fuck you Rockstar!

I wonder if the characters from GTA 5 will be in the new part? And how global will it be? It seems to me that many new and interesting features will be brought there.
