Don't forget Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, one of the most unique game soundtracks for sure. Sounds more like a downtempo drum and base album than a video game soundtrack. Incredible moody and poppy soundtrack:

And L.A. Noire's soundtrack, absolutely wonderful themes and motifs. Perfectly fits the mood of the era, one of the greatest soundtracks I've ever heard:

There isn't one "best" one, but there are some that are truly S-tier.

FFXIV
LA Noire
Chrono Trigger
FFVI

Red Dead Redemption

Just to name a few.

There are a lot of great OST’s in gaming and I wanted to limit my choices to just two, there are probably better OST’s but these two really stood out to me…

It's tough to answer this question. We all have our favorites, and there is often a consensus on soundtracks that have already been quoted endlessly in similar threads.

Should we then choose an obscure soundtrack, privilege nostalgia, new sounds, Gregorian choirs or original Slavic chants?

Well, I choose a bit of originality combined with nostalgia: the soundtrack of Super Aleste. Nobody was going to mention it anyway XD

I am a big soundtrack guy.... that's almost all I listen too.
The Darkness, Dungeon of the Endless, Death stranding, Nier, ff7remake, ff xv, blodoborne, aqua kitty, shadow of the colossus, last guardian, pikuniku, blasphemous, bejeweled twist, crackdown, ... I have over 150 soundtracks... cannot compute... so much amazing music...
But ultimately, FOR THE GREATEST ONE?

UNREAL. Alexander Brandon is god.

OOT and Banjo are the best soundtracks overall but Skyrim, Halo and Shadow of the Colossus have some incredible tracks.
Can’t agree about banjo, but I love all the others you mentioned.

Also:

Castlevania: SotN
Final Fantasy 7, 8
Illusion of Gaia
Metal Gear Solid
Donkey Kong Country 1, 2

Love seeing this mentioned. Such an incredible soundtrack. (and game)

I don't think I've seen TES IV mentioned yet, and that's one of my favorites.

Another underappreciated soundtrack is Okami. Such a phenomenal package overall.

Okami and Oblivion have amazing soundtracks! Glad to see those mentioned

Did some listening, watched your YouTube videos. Going to say it again, Skyrim shits all over the weeb rock noise you put me through. You all should be EMBARRASSED.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
tfw Starcraft's OST has already been posted. :')

The Nintendo 64 had some great music in their games, but those three stand out imo:

But if I have to post one of my favs, it's this one from the 3DS:

17 (!) battle themes plus a ton of themes for exploration and other shit. Some of them are remakes of previous games themes, which is kinda cheating but still, amazing OST.

Formula One on PS1. It has a few Joe Satriani and Steve Vai songs, but you can exclude those if you want. Their in house band called Overdrive did a great bunch of electric guitar songs.

Really good ones are Stateside, Flat Out, Adrenaline Rush, and Chai Reaction. Flip through the playlist songs.
