The DS game was probably the first FPS of the system, after Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, the demo of the game (that came out much later) and it was a pretty fine job from n-Space, the studio that developed most FPS on Nintendo DS. They developed it the same year as Geist, one of the best Gamecube games I'd say.

Iirc it was the only game that ran on Ensata, the DS emulator of the Nitro SDK.

The game, both on home consoles and Nintendo DS, is pretty good, but the rail gun of the last levels, which kills you with a single shot thought the walls, was a pita.

n-Space also did all the DS Call of Duty games, which had online and were even steps above this on hardware that was rarely pushed hard, unfortunately. (Tons of great software on DS, but if you were looking for wow-factor or deep features, it could be hard to come by...)

Funny though, when people argue over whether something's "next-gen" or if it could be ported down or whatnot, it's interesting to see what developers could do (or at least used to be able to) when the job just had to be done and a challenge was accepted by an eager studio.

I had that game for the Gamecube. It was tough. Liked the challenge but I don’t think there was hardly any story at all during the two levels I played

I had this on Xbox.
Most generic shooter I've ever played.
Aiming was poor, but otherwise, it was an ok game. Gets better as the game progresses.

so has the person playing the DS version only one hand? but even then I would expect better gameplay lol

I had the GameCube and the DS version back then. really liked it on DS for the novelty alone to have a pretty decent FPS on a handheld with pretty good controls

It was all about killing I think. Pretty badass how they left it out. Or it could be just that I don’t recall what the story is. Either way, imagine the cutscenes from Agent Under Fire or Nightfire and then reduce that about 90% was basically my experience w/ the game. Fun and challenging, but back then there were a lot of good games so Rogue Agent got left in the dust

Edit: And I remember being constantly worried about dying. Even more than Agent Under Fire. That game will take some resilience and patience to beat I’d imagine

The DS version was great. But you notice the animations are similar on all platforms.

The engine was reused for all CoD DS games, and Goldeneye. Never have known if the engine had a name...
