Sony should really patch some of these changes in the PS5 version, it's kind of crazy that they give preferential treatment to the PC release with better assets.
Sony don't care about you because you've already gave them you're money. They are spending money on PCports as they will make the money back and some profit from sales. I'm salty AF that they haven't updated them games but that's the truth.

There is no arm in backport begging 🍻

Is there a field of view slider?
Would having a wide screen help with no field of view slider? Or will it still look claustrophobic

I almost fell asleep trying to watch this video. As time goes by, I notice how little of a damn I give about shimmering edges, aliasing, pixel counts, grass tufts, and all that stupid nonsense. I've been playing Battlefield 4 on my Xbox One S on my couch, for example. The worst, sub 900p version there is. Even though I could play it at 4k on my PC with an RTX 3080. I just don't care one single bit. I'm having fun, that's all that matters to me.
Yes and no. I also agree that we've kind of reached superficial territory and most stuff looks nearly identical these days when comparing all the different methods of producing 4k-like visuals. I remember a time when jumping from consoles to PC was a revelation, going from sub 720p at 25fps to 1080p60 or even 1440p60 was insane. Nowadays it's kind of like "but if you zoom 8x times and really focus on that set of pixels you can notice a slight simmer".

But I disagree with your example. sub 900p at 40-50fps does stick out quite a bit to the point it can impact gameplay.

I was watching on the phone and couldn't see a difference because screen is too small.
That says something.
It is for sure refined. But more technically rather than additive work

I don't know how these PC dudes spend so much on there Rigs for such minor differences from a 399 machine. Can honestly barley tell.
Lol what?
120fps is now a minor difference?
As if God of War is the only PC game out there.
As if 4K on a 2060 is a minor difference.
As if PCs can only play games?
A 2060 will go beyond PS5 BC settings when mated to a frikken 10400.....thats not exactly breaking the bank.

If you can barely tell the difference in shadow quality and directional occlusion....mate/

So anyone figured out of there is 3d headphones audio like on ps4 (and maybe on ps5?) ?
And tested hdr ?

HDR is shit on PC, so probably not. 3d headphones, not sure if any game even supports 3d audio on PC
HDR is fine on pc. Just have to use hgig and games need to have internal calibration. And the problem with GOW on ps is kinda broken/bad ingame calibration screens.
As for 3d audio - When I use sony pulse 3d headphones with "3d audio" turned on in system settings, the option "headphone mode" is greyed out in god of war. It says, headphone mode is not available with non stereo devices.
And if I disable system 3d audio, then I can enable headphone mode.
And to my ears, 3d sounds ... way more 3d and you can actually tell directions. And it does not sound muffled or anything. But I am not sure if ps5 is doing that of the game. as you know, gow had 3d audio on ps4

Yeah, sure, I'm going to be able to make out less details on that Xbox than on my PC, but the console experience is really good enough for me. I've been double dipping on a lot of games on the Xbox, to play them on the couch, even though I could just sit my lazy ass in front of my PC and play the superior versions I've already bought, but being able to play on my big TV in the other room without having to haul my PC around makes it worthwile to me.

It's an indie game by an indie studio, Microsoft are not the only publishers of the game.

Apparently they own the IP, is that what that Moon Studios guy was pissed about not long ago? lol

Its an Xbox Game Studios IP...and an Xbox Game Studios game.
They allowed it to be ported to Nintendo Switch just like they allow Minecraft games to be ported.

On the PS4 God of War uses a completely different OS and API. It doesn't use DX11 nor DX12.
All the PS developers have 2 computers. From the words of one of my friends that used to work at ND, they do their development on the PC with PC hardware in Visual Studio using C++. They use a derivative of DX shaders in that IDE.. They then push the code to their PS development kit and compile with all the PS API there. It's all so integrated that the process is extremely quick.

In short, yes, they do use the PC for development code and their graphics engine can be ported to multiple platforms just like the 3rd party studios.

If that is true, then the issue remains of why use DX11 instead of DX12.

Huge jump over the checkerboard solution originally used.

really highlights checkerboard renderings shortcomings. Huge step up if you have the PC to run it. Pretty decent port considering. Looks like Sony are improving their ports with each PC release. GG.

The PS5 is running it in BC mode. Is the PC doing the same? The PC port is running natively on PC. Some of the twisting is astounding...
Now hold on, you lost me here.

PS5 running a PS4 version is bc mode.

But pc running a PS4 port is native?

And you say the twisting is astounding?

Talk about self insight.

Are you legit serious mate?

Having bo_hazem as your only like makes me believe it's just a meme reply. Please let it be.

What are you talking about? Of course the PC version is native to PC. It was ported by devs who made a PC version. The ps5 did not get a port.

I can’t believe i had to type or something so obvious.

So a PC version is native because it was ported.

A console port will never be native. I really doubt they build the way up from the bottom for making a PC release.

If they did, they did a terrible job for not improving the engine for better textures.

I... You know what. I ain't gotta bite anymore have a nice weekend yall.

I hope people enjoy the game and don't give a f about this fanboy baiting.

So, you're saying that the pc version is just not capable of having higher textures?

Either:
It's spaghetti code
A PS4 port with fidelities like better shadows
Or a very limited engine.

Pick your poison.
wtf. it's a real pc game. running native code. no emulation.
there are better textures and some upgrades

Broke: arguing over visual differences afforded by having more expensive hardware

Woke: we soon won't have to buy shitty consoles any more

This was your first post that started this all

This was in response to people clarifying that the loading is way better on PC because the ps5 Never got a PS5 port. Pc did. You took that basic fact and turned it into console wars and are now ironically complaining about it.

Everyone knows by now that native ps5 ports of ps4 games load in a second or two max. Literally every game does this. It’s a well established fact. The reason why gow doesn’t is because it was never ported to ps5.

Be better.

Every...single...time...there is always one who goes above and beyond to show their ignorance in these threads and somehow you've risen above the rest which given whats been put on display is quite the achievement.

The irony. In every single way.
Absolutely insane. This week has been something else. I can tolerate console wars. It makes sense to me. People have favorites. What i cant stand is dumb moronic statements uttered without a shred of self awareness. Mocking and laughing at people while acting utter morons is so cringeworthy I’m embarrassed for them.

Some of the bans were easily avoidable. It’s a shame that some people are so wrapped up in silly console warring that they neglect the nudges given to them. Sometimes after you type something out it pays to review what you wrote.

Honestly it's ridiculous. The port is good, there's a lot to celebrate and discuss here but yet some people have made it their priority to come into this thread and troll even if it means defying logic.

The PC version is native, the end. It's not running through an emulation layer. If it were then things like DLSS wouldn't be possible.

Seeing as Sony will be porting its games to PC, they should acquire the studio responsible for this port, provided it is for sale, of course.

No. It's a pc version with improvements. The BC part is because how bc works on Windows. Generally doesn't need any patch to work and make good use of newer hardware/Windows version.

Ok but there’s still a limit with what you can do in the games settings. If someone buys it 5 years later it will still have the same assets. To be fair even BC on Xbox doesn’t work the same way that it does on PC. You can’t buy an X1 title and just choose higher settings on the XSX unless the devs make possible. The same goes for other consoles with BC.
