Supposedly we'll get an info drop on what the "immersive mode" is supposed to be today. The one that was supposed to launch a few weeks ago. Hopefully they put some effort into it as they've been pretty damn quiet on fixing the issues with the game and not very forthcoming on how they plan on fixing it. The game has so much potential but it feels like they rushed it. I've been playing it again after a few months and have had a good time playing co-op, but there isn't the same drive to jump into play like there was with Wildlands.

I couldn't agree more with the bold statement. A friend and I played it for a few days then stopped. We plan to get back into, but it does not get you to jump in like Wildlands did. Not even close.

I'd prefer the new update, to be honest..
I think it's a case of both happening at the same time. I really hope this update does the trick, because people like me, which I'd wager are more hardcore fan of the series than the average player are kind of at the break(ing) point with this game. I like what they've shown with the update, but there's still some fundamental problems that they've actually yet to address. Base jumping is STILL broken on PC, working maybe 30% of the time. The drones all over the base kill a lot of potential for stealth and honestly just isn't any fun. I really really REALLY want to like the game, but it's fighting me at damn near every step.

Will finally jump into Breakpoint tomorrow due to the new patch and being able to customize the way I want to play. Going to make the play style as close to Wildlands as possible.

Man, they really know the way to my heart. When that Chaos Theory penthouse theme guitar started playing, I melted. I really shouldn't support this shit, but I can't resist Fisher. It is kind of annoying that we're seeing old man Fisher as a side character in Ghost Recon though. This should have been a development in his own game. His new stealth suit also looks like it has some exoskeleton qualities to it. It looks like old age is getting to Fisher (as it should, the dude is 65 years old now; he was born in 1957 and Breakpoint takes place in 2023).

Gotta say... I'm majorly disappointed that we aren't getting the Blacklist suit. Easily the best SC suit.

This game is just fundamentally broken and unplayable in solo - no idea if I would like this with team mates. I just jumped back into the game (had it on console), but subscribed to Ubiplay Plus or whatever the name of the service is. It just feels like the stealth approach they want to do for this sequel should have been done with a much smaller island, a more focused narrative, and tighter gameplay. I actually like the injury mechanics, some of the hiding stuff, yet the gameplay just and story pretty much makes it impossible to enjoy this

So I've played this for a couple of hours the base game on PC with immersive experience and with the normal grind thing but... yeah this game needs to be taken out of canon. Wildlands was fun, you could be tactical there, mess about, and while it was arcadey, still fun to play. Breakpoint has no fucking clue what it wants to be, and even with immersive mode it is just weird. You can try and clear out bases, but in five minutes it repopulates - so why even bother?. You can try and be tactical but why bother if the enemy just smokes your ass from the distance, I noticed if you just go close to them as in Gears of War combat range, you have more chance of surviving encounters.

Playing with a person that wants to play tactically is hit or miss, but it can be a lot of fun. The Echelon class is cool, makes main handing a pistol in a lot of scenarios a viable method.

Same here, loving this update. It seems to look a lot nicer on the One X now, or maybe I just havent played it for a while. Either way, it's good stuff.
 
I loved this update. Playing with most hud elements disabled, advanced difficulty, limited bandages, often injuries, only one main weapon. It almost felt like an open world splinter cell.
I never hated gear score. But now that it's gone i feel the game is so much better.

Completed the echelon class. Now i'm working on the engineer class.

The game just seems too empty. I get its supposed to be like that I guess, but one of the things I liked about Wildlands was that it seemed alive(a little).

I very much enjoyed Wildlands but was appalled seeing how they screwed up Breakpoint, so I decided not to buy it.

But then I noticed the free weekend plus the patch happened just a couple of days ago, so I decided to jump in. And I have to say the experience was a really nice surprise. The game is obviously heavily patched now, it shows, and it's actually fun. Playing the game in the immersive mode feels real good. One of the big changes is that it's possible to turn off the gear score.

So I decided to give this another try after the "immersive mode" released. I bought the super-expensive-everything-included edition at launch because I absolutely LOVED Wildlands. Oops. I tried at launch, I really tried. It just sucked balls. I could see value in a lot of the different systems, but it just wasn't fun, there was very little "hook", and it was just so, so disappointing. Since I already paid for everything, I put it all on the back burner and hoped they'd fix it post launch.

One of my friends sent me the Immersive mode & Deep State trailers.. and god-damn it, I was in. I skipped the Raid and the Terminator Event because I just didn't want to bother.

So anyway, downloaded the updated and started a whole new play through (I think I was gear level around 135, level 33 or something prior) going Echelon and using most of the immersive settings (still using the waypoints, because I'm not a masochist).

I'm now around level 23 or so, maxed our Echelon, Panther, working on Assault (or whatever).

It's... better? Getting rid of the gear score is mostly nice. I like not having to dig around for everything just trying to get a higher arbitrary number for a gun I don't want. Same with gear. I'd set it to one look previously so the gear # was pointless anyway. The weapons parts and metal parts and stuff is... weird now. Nice to get.. but kind of a useless holdover. I haven't found where to get metal parts though.

The story is still.. just such ass. So disappointed. It's like they had 10 people who all had different ideas and they crammed them all in. The overall idea is cool, but the implementation is just.. ass. The side missions totally miss the mark thematically as well.

So.. hoping to play through the game but still hoping they fix a few things. It's still super lonely without your AI squadmates. Looking forward to trying to Deep State mission as well.

Here I can fly from one end of the island to the other, essentially on auto pilot and not worry about a damn thing. No roaming helicopters, no drones, no nada. Worse case scenario is you fly too low and someone spots you, but by the time they can fire on you, you're outside their range.

Also, wildlands had recon jammers. Sometimes you had to carefully sneak into an enemy compound to disable it so you could use the drone to tag enemies.
Disable recon jammer, plant C4 on AA, complete the objective, blow up AA as you steal an aircraft. Ubisoft dumbed down things and added stuff no one asked for.

That is right! They had drone jammers in the middle of the jungle.. but a whole high tech island can't make one? For shame!

Think how easy it'd be, Nomad just drives around in a jammermobile and BAM victory!

I miss the Cartel convoys.. it gave the illusion that they were going somewhere to do something. I miss random UNIDAD helo's flying around. I miss all of the little things that made Wildlands feel (superficially) alive.

Right now the only things you see are "random" helicopters that fly directly over you every 10 minutes or so, flying from nowhere, going nowhere.. and the stupid drone that also manages to coincidentally fly RIGHT over you every so often. It's kind of depressing.

Gear score is gone? So...no more hoarding weapons?

If you want! Find a gun you like and stick with it.

So I hated Breakpoint when first opening up the game - cluttering menues (sperate manues for shades? really?). Is Wildlands the same or is it more streamlined in terms of gameplay? Or does it also have menues galore and utterly useless feeling?

Wildlands is a lot more straight forward I feel. There are still menus, but they seemed a hell of a lot more logically designed. You don't need to dig through a bunch of crap to find the story either.

Gameplay is mostly the same, I think Breakpoint introduced a few new features/etc but I don't really remember anything groundbreaking. Graphics are generally probably better in Breakpoint since it's newer, but Wildlands got a 4K patch for the Xbox One X previously, so it doesn't look bad or anything.

The setting was interesting and it seemed like a fun idea to have three robots tagging along. But it soon became clear that the setting was more... hills hills everywhere for the sake of hills. And the three robots were useless. I thought it would be like in Rainbow Six Vegas, where I could order them around even more but there was like one button for them to do stuff? So completely useless.
I did not comtinue playing after the six free hours.

THen I dove down in Breakpoint with a clean slate in mind and open as well. The immersion mode really worked for me. Somehow I got a more sense of gameplay here and now. And the loss of robots tagging along didnt matter either, I just ran around by myself anyway. The setting is not as fun as Wildlands but it didnt matter either, the game felt a lot more playable now.
So I bougt it and have been playing for a couple of days now, really enjoying it!

The three "robots" were so broken they removed them for the sequel. They were so good it was easier to complete the hardest missions with them than with humans.

Yeah, I have the same feeling, overall really enjoying it (immersion mode).

There are still things in the game that drives me nuts though.

That fucking UAV and those helicopters flying STRAIGHT over my head every couple of minutes.. Holy shit. It's like the game is deliberately trying to hoist me out of the experience against my will.

I also wish the guy responsible for Ubisoft games' utterly idiotic AI to be fired already.. I'm enjoying the game right now, but just Imagine the game with good AI.. Wow.. Luckily it's not as bad as Far Cry New Dawn (where you f.ex. can spawn enemy AI two feet away just by turning the character 360 degrees).

Also, despite the fiction world having plenty of "nice" biomes and weather environments, it's does NOT have the same dynamic feel to it like Bolivia did. It just don't. I hope Ubisoft has learned a thing or two for their next game.

(And btw, why the hell can't I run inside Erewhon, why are they forcing me to walk/light jog for two minutes to get to where I want every time I enter or exit the damn place..)

If you played without enemy markers it mostly eliminated the syncshot 'cheating'. The squad banter was terrible in the beginning, but eventually I got used to it, and actually miss it now. It's just so boring roaming around Aurora with literally no one to talk to except random AI people where you only ever have half a conversation. "Do you know where this is?" "I'm sorry but that's all I know" "Okay thanks". WTF.

They actually said it's too much work to enable running in Erewhon so it won't be fixed.. don't ask me. At least they made it so Erewhon is private by default.. I can't believe they thought it was a good idea to make it a public hub at launch.

There is a lot of good hidden away in the game, but jesus fuck, they seriously fucked the poodle on this one. I don't know how they could break/ruin so many things that worked just fine in Wildlands. All they had to do was slap a fresh coat of paint on Wildlands and maybe add a few new gimmicks and it would have sold like gangbusters.

The Azrael Drone/Enemy Helo thing is really annoying. It just forces you to lay down every 10 minutes for a rest break. So annoying. The fact that those are the only real sense of "life" you see day in day out is also depressing. I want to follow one of those helicopters sometime to see where the hell they're always going.

Bolivia was designed so perfectly. Going into Inca Camina.. the way the terrain switches from desert to snow.. with little runoff veins.. was beautifully done. Same with the salt flats of Koani. I dunno, it was just all so memorable. In Breakpoint, it's all.. well done, I guess. But really it just feels like more of the same. The same Skell Tech buildings, another Drone Center, a checkpoint you can easily avoid.. etc.

I'm still making my way through Breakpoint, but it still mostly feels like an exercise in "what could have been", and that's kind of depressing.

When it comes to "bot teammates with character" nothing will ever beat the Left 4 Dead crew imo. THats the bar to beat. I feel an update giving us Sam FIsher as a mate would be really cool :)

All this is pretty accurate. If they took some of the refinements in animation and class/character development along with the "Ghost Experience" menu options IN to Wildlands, it'd be a perfect game.
