If the patch cycle is actually going to 2.8 then they really do need new locations to fill that or it's going to drag. They had to have realized its their best kind of content drop.
Well both Chasm and "upper Mondstadt" are supposed to be released before Sumeru in that leak. I'm guessing Chasm will be 2.8 since Sumeru (the city) is supposedly located right on the other side of it from Liyue. I'm glad we're going to get a free Dendro character at least, to test it out.

Other side of the coin.
They're giving a free dendro character because WE HAVE TO have a dendro character for Sumeru, ergo we will be pretty much forced to roll on a 5* dendro if we don't want to keep going with a subpar free 4*.

Would work out pretty nicely for the tail end then. Like you said, anything to get away from Liyue... What about the Dandelion Sea though? is that the one mentioned in the book series?

Agreed, content is required to keep players engaged. I'm just remembering the long content drought last year from Dragonspire to Inazuma's release. (I guess the Golden Apple Archipelago was released, but that was small & temporary).

Releasing 2 new sub-regions between full region releases would be great and hopefully the devs can make it happen.

Ha, you act like a character is supposed to be good just because it's a 5*. I think it'll be rare outside of Archons if we get universally good characters ever again.

I find it funny that Sumeru essentially borders Liyue, probably because they wanted to be smack dab up against it because of how glorious Liyue is. So they can talk about how their nation sucks and they wish they were part of Liyue instead. Liyue!

I'm not sure, I'm guessing Dandelion sea is above the Anemo cube boss:

The body of water to the upper left is self contained and no bigger than Cider lake, so I doubt that's it. But yea it's from the lore book.

I told you guys from the start we'd be getting Yaoyao for free.

It makes sense to me that we're getting a bunch of smaller areas with each patch. That's how it's been since the introduction of Inazuma. I guess that means Sumeru is delayed slightly though. Not a huge problem as long as the other new places are interesting.

Every nation but Liyue has something negative about them. Almost curious how far they can take it.
Past the Stormbearer Mountains makes sense. I really hope it's true.

I can already see 10 Dandelions that you can actually harvest and 100000 purely cosmetic flowers of unknown origin hahah

Or maybe it will be like "oh gee, right before your arrival there was a storm and now there's no Dandelions in here whatsoever, sorry"

Going to make you farm the 2 dandelions outside of Mond forever.

Maybe it's just me but I never took it literally as a whole field (sea) of Dandelions. I thought that was just a kid's story relating to an area that either had quite a few dandelions growing in it, or the water (for whatever reason) had the appearance of large field of dandelions.

Yeah I imagine it is exaggerated to begin with. I just hope the look of it continues to be fantasy like to match the descriptions.

Do players even care about collecting dandelions at this point? I must have hundreds of them by now.
It's just good to have a better source for mats since some kind of suck.

Yea and for whatever reason we can't grow dandelions and some of the other materials in our teapots yet. I was sure there would be more added over time, but nope. I also expected that Inazuma would get better expedition targets by now, we still don't even have a single expedition for the purple ore yet, so it has to be manually farmed. That's a bit of a head scratcher. Philanemo mushrooms would be a nice addition to teapot gardens too, a lot of characters use them and they're annoying as fuck to gather since they only grow on the side of houses.

So I finally grinded out the rest of Windtrace rewards, wasn't too bad. I feel this iteration made it a little too easy on the hunter. Unlimited stamina, faster cooldown of skills, particularly near the end, and if you get the favor it's pretty much game over. The best way to win as a rebel is just to take one for the team and grab the favor so the hunter can't use it, even if you get caught in the process. You'll get at least 300 points per game that way, more if you can manage to grab favor and not get caught. I have to be in the mood for Windtrace, but it's fun nonetheless.

So YukiOnna YukiOnna you mentioned writing your thoughts on the lore down a few weeks ago, I'll go ahead and kick us off, I've been thinking about quite a bit of it. Anyone else in the thread can feel free to jump in too.

So, I think it's pretty obvious at this point about a few things. I'll start with Wishes and the Traveler. So my thoughts - Paimon is a god that is able to materialize things from memories. Traveler is a shooting star, or data from a spaceship or something that can travel the galaxy (possibly the Ark from Honkai, but you probably don't know that bit of lore so I won't delve for now). He/She is given form by Paimon or something else in Teyvat that allows them to look/act/be human. Wishes are canon in the game, not as getting party members, but you're wishing on a star in the constellation of the characters, each star has a memory attached to it. Paimon allows you to be or manifest these characters when you receive the star or memory. This explains the multi elements, the fast switching during gameplay, and why more stars from the constellation makes them grow in power. This also explains why everyone calls you traveler when you're in the game world no matter which character you're using, and why you blip back into the traveler when you talk to important NPCs for story quests. This also explains the fights like with Childe boss where you use multiple elements one after the other without attuning to a statue. Paimon also being able to materialize things explains the huge inventory system and a few other things that most people will just write off as being "just a videogame". MHY writers are a little bit clever in that regard.

From what we just found out in Enka, there was life on Teyvat way before Celestia showed up, indicating they're alien to the planet. Whether the planet is just a simulation remains to be seen, but there was definitely something there before Celestia. This is a huge secret/taboo to talk about, since Celestia doesn't want anyone to challenge their rule. Their reason for this, again, I think relates back to Honkai. This explains why the Archons won't mention a thing about Celestia or their roles, and is further indicated in the story of the big snek that died in Inazuma. The lore in Enka states that the vishaps and humans existed before Celestia. Celestia came down to Teyvat, put their archons in charge, via a war or whatever, and banished all the humans alive in that time in Inazuma to Enka at behest of the snake god instead of just wiping them out (like they likely did in other areas). The snake read the illegal book that explains details about Celestia (the one that the Pyro Lector dude was looking for), so the powers in Celestia force him to suicide by Shogun. The snake really loved its people and wanted what's best for them, so he did it, knowing full well he would die. This solved a lot of problems for Celestia. The snake was actually a really good dude and loved humanity, building Sangonomiya out of its body and doing everything it could before its suicide run.

I also have a weird theory that Celestia in the sky is actually upside down in a hollow earth situation (or simulation again), ever since the "stars are fake" reveal from Scaramouche during the Fischl event. This partly explains the upside down statue of the 7 and the meaning behind it, why the abyss exists and why it gets harder as you climb (descend). Also why the abyss order was chosen by the "Sibling" as the correct path. There's definitely something with the abyss and Celestia, and Katheryne is a part of it. I think the Adventurer's Guild was created to keep skilled people busy with menial quests to prevent them from learning anything of importance or challenging the way the world works or Celestia. That explains Katheryne's occasional "ERROR" text and her universal ego across all nations.

It seems that even though the archons have their overarching rules from Celestia, they still are allowed various freedoms to govern Teyvat as they see fit. They grow to care for their people and I don't believe them to be "bad guys", but I think they're only allowed to operate within a certain set of guidelines. Tsarista is the only one pushing this boundary, something even Venti (god of freedom) won't even do. The Gnosis pieces, while seemingly of the utmost importance, don't seem to be that important to the Archons. I still don't have a good theory about what they do or what they're for. Since they're all chess pieces, you'd have to assume it's for a puzzle or something. I think the main role of the archons is to keep civilization at a slightly-above medieval technology level (again for Honkai reasons). This is backed up by Khaenri'ah's story of getting wiped off the planet when they got too advanced.

Visions don't seem to be as much of a boon as they first appear to be, either. I'm suspecting they're given to people of ambition to keep an "eye" on them from Celestia, to make sure they're not doing anything too big that rocks the boat or that will change civilization in a big way. Even Ningguang, who has a Vision and is basically the leader of Liyue, just gives advice on inconsequential business items and forecasts for financial information. Keeping the status quo.

Anyways, I have more theories, but I wanted to get the discussion started. I'm curious what I missed and what you guys think.

*edit*

Also, Rosaria (3rd best girl) birthday official art. Sucks that it uses the new outfit, but I digress...

Paimon being a god that can materialize memories makes sense. It would match her design, which contains constellations on her robe, as well, but I'm curious why she looks so similar to the Kiana 2. Ontop of that, I think it needs to be repeated but the Solomon based names have so far been for her and the Archons, and the four Shining Shades of PO (Astaroth/Istaroth), which is definitely significant. Also, the people of Enka bestowed them Greek based names with Phanes, Kairos, etc.

If you look back at Mondstadt's legacy where Istaroth had history and was worshipped equally with Barbatos before forgotten, it backs up what you're saying about the Archons. They may not be bad guys, but it's once again the "Heavenly Principles" they are more or less programmed to keep quiet or otherwise things like Orobashi, Enkaonomiya, or Khanreiah can be repeated. I remember going over a comment where they brought up the manga page with a panel of Venti where he's asked about Celestia and it contains 3 figures which might be the other shades. Which is why I brought up the above, they share demonic names.

What I'm curious about is why the Seven Vishaps were even challenged by PO and what the aim was of even destroying the Old World to bring forth the current Teyvat and Archon governing. It can't simply be a matter of pride unless I missed it. Also, is this separating Unknown God and PO then?
Side note, but then Azhdaha is one of them isn't he since the terminology is shared. And someone pointed out that Kokomi might be the reborn one of Water given her constellation name and I agree with it: Dracaena Somnolenta. She is one of the only direct ties to Enkanomiya, too.

I feel really bad for Kokomi's ancestors and Orobashi. It paints its battle in a completely different light when you look back on Inazuma history and Watatsumi's strife with the Shogunate and what happened on Yashiori.

2000 fish for that last fishing achievement? I've just about cleared the 3 fishing shops with around 600 fish (I clear all the fish from a spot), so they're expecting you to catch another 1400 fish for basically no reward. I think 1000 would have been more reasonable.

They want you to spend tons of your time.

Keep digging the achievement requirements.

I'm actually saving for Ayato. If in Ayato banner have the hydro bow 4*, will be a bonus.

edit: Ganyu > Yae. Can't see Yae doing more than Ganyu, unless they buff electro.

Without playing Honkai or knowing the lore from there, it's hard to explain in a way that would make sense. In the greater miHoYo universe, Honkai is a force of destruction that essentially is "god" - the will of the Honkai. It finds civilizations that are growing past a certain technology level and actively seeks to destroy it. That's a huge oversimplification, but you needed to know that much to get the rest. In Honkai Impact, they try several things over several "eras" (spanning thousands of years and countless generations) to stop the Honkai. One of the mentioned plans is something called "the Ark Project". It's a project by a character named Doctor MEI to essentially send a spaceship out to the universe and look for habitable planets that Honkai hasn't noticed/touched yet. It's kinda just explained in a Manga and then never really talked about much again. Doctor MEI is in love with the strongest character in Honkai lore currently, Kevin Kaslana, who is functionally immortal on top of being ridiculously strong. He's one of the only characters to still be around from when the Honkai first invaded earth. He worked with Dr. MEI on several projects to try to get rid of Honkai.

Then the official Genshin twitter released this a while ago, which put the missing link in there:

Hmm, I wonder who K.K. could be?

So back to my theory then, either they're super-powered humans (this exists in the Honkai-verse), an AI program from the Ark, a memory of a failed project, or something of that nature.

I'll be honest, I have been so invested in other parts of the lore, I haven't put much thought into the ramifications of the Ars Goetia tie-ins. There's a lot for me to read and digest about that. I don't think however that Asmoday (the Unknown God) is the primordial one, though that's just a personal belief. I think she's a red herring for whatever the true antagonist is. I haven't thought about the Greek names and what that could imply either.

I do think that Paimon herself might be Phanes, even if she might not realize it. Would tie into my other theories about her really closely, and indicate that she was overthrown as the PO by whoever currently governs Celestia, and explains how she can manifest/create the traveler and other stuff. I don't think it was the PO that challenged the vishaps at all. I think the PO was more interested in creation and humanity, and then....something...happened. I think the reasoning, again, might have something to do with the greater Honkai-verse.

Here are the details on this year's Lantern Rite events.

Oh good, more screens for my teapot :messenger_grinning_sweat: I keep getting all this furniture in Inazuma, but I haven't messed with my teapot in months. I guess I should build out the Inazuma themed realm one of these days.

Also see the female treasure hoarder model popping up in some of those preview screens.

Also, both PO(Celestia) and the Second One are 100% outsiders to Teyvat/Old World alongside of course the Traveler. The original history assumes PO had won and that's what Istaroth declares, but I think the clear mystery now on when Kiana 2 came might mean that was a lie or straight up wrong- there's almost nothing else on the Second One after all.

There's honestly a lot to chew for the names and references to what mythology they use since it can imply the intent of the story or characters, Istaroth is based on Astaroth which is the one who shares the same hierarchy with Lucifer and Beelzebub. I don't think any of them are dead yet nor is it ancient history and yeah Ive considered Paimon being Phanes, as well and possibly she lost her true state and memories after being dethroned. The books description of her looks can apply to her.

Also, the stuff regarding Enkanomiya did a lot more for Kokomi's character and her history than her own character story. Wish they included this (with the cute moments) instead. Even the bits about how her constellation may hint at her ancestral background is nice. Fleshed out Inazuma's worldbuilding from earlier than the Archon War, as well. I hope Sumeru offers the same level of insight given its the nation of knowledge.

I really need to make time for Honkai so I can get a better understanding of it and come back about that.

Here are the details on this year's Lantern Rite events.

Please don't be as exhausting as the xiao lanterns

Doctor MEI is in love with the strongest character in Honkai lore currently, Kevin Kaslana
They were in love with each other, which was tragic because after becoming MANTIS to help MEI with her research, his body temperature dropped too low for him to be around people safely ever again, so they never even embraced ever again afterwards; they also had a son together, but not through conventional means obviously.

I think the project ark stuff is less likely, because iirc the official status of that project is "failed", since they lost contact with it.
Project valuka and project ember are more interesting to me with how they could tie to the honkai lore.
Project ember because its failure showed that sudden advancement of tech just makes honkai more dangerous faster and destroy everything.
This to me sounds like what happened to khaenri'ah, heck dainsleif's "curse" of immortality just sounds like a stigmata effect.
It sounds to me something like project ember happened in khaenri'ah (perhaps as the result of project ark?), which caused a will of honkai reaction, which caused the people to develop stigmata; some mutating into what's now the abyss order, and some being naturally compatible like dainslef.

The reason why I think project ark itself is less likely, is because project valuka is currently also "failed", and the entire goal of project valuka was to find worlds on the imaginary tree where the honkai was defeated, but we also know that otto saw dvalinn through the imaginary tree.
So that could mean three things:
1. project ark is connected to genshin, making the actual genshin world actually present somewhere in the main universe, which means the dvalinn otto saw was an alternate genshin world/bubble universe/whatever; project ark causes project ember like behaviour in khaenri'ah.
2. project ark has failed and the genshin world sits somewhere on the imaginary tree with its own expression of the will of honkai
3. "the stars are fake" and the genshin world is just data/sim retreived by project ark, this also means the dvalinn otto saw was an alternate.

Fffffffffuuuuucking GI censorship.

Someone has a raging hate boner against GI inside MiHo otherwise how you can explain that literally every other MiHo project is a fanservice galore?

Fun fact, this is the same tech they used for that Barbara animation about 6 months ago, as well as the Amber thing around launch. I expected them to use it more than they have actually.

*edit* I meant these two:

They were in love with each other, which was tragic because after becoming MANTIS to help MEI with her research, his body temperature dropped too low for him to be around people safely ever again, so they never even embraced ever again afterwards; they also had a son together, but not through conventional means obviously.

I think the project ark stuff is less likely, because iirc the official status of that project is "failed", since they lost contact with it.
Project valuka and project ember are more interesting to me with how they could tie to the honkai lore.
Project ember because its failure showed that sudden advancement of tech just makes honkai more dangerous faster and destroy everything.

You bring up some really good points. I only mentioned Ark because it kinda fits the Twins' situation, but you're right, it could have been related to other projects (or maybe not even at all). I forgot about Otto seeing Dvalin too.

To me though, I don't think Honkai had direct involvement with the destruction of Khaenri'ah, I think it was more that Celestia stomped out the fire that was burning with them before Honkai had a chance to notice. That's my general feeling with the tie-in here, I think Celestia (confirmed to be an alien entity of some form to Teyvat) is doing whatever it's doing to avoid the gaze of Honkai. There are a lot of missing details, but it even kinda explains Unknown God's line at the very opening of the game about "the arrogation of man". Trying to conquer/take/advance is just synonymous with humanity, and it would be in her best interest to stop that in its tracks to avoid dealing with Honkai. Also curious is that she clearly (to Honkai Impact players at least) uses void power to a degree, you'd have to wonder what connection she has to the Honkai. Regardless, with the lore in Genshin, you know that Celestia could wipe out Teyvat, even just by issuing order 66 to the Archons to destroy the population. The fact that they haven't done that alone, and lets everyone live normal lives, proves that they are not being controlled by Honkai.
