Woman ‘beat her wife with bedpost for accidentally putting their weed in washing machine’

A woman battered her new wife with a bedpost for accidentally putting their marijuana stash through the wash, police say.
Ashley Perkins, 30, reportedly attacked her spouse of six weeks Ruth McClellan-Perkins while visiting family in Navare, Florida, last Monay.
Perkins is said to have been so infuriated with her wife’s accidental destruction of the drug that she battered her around the head, legs and left arm with the wooden implement.
After police and paramedics were called to the scene, Perkins initially claimed Ruth had accidentally injured herself by rolling over the bedpost during the argument.
While being taken by police to jail, Perkins, who lives in Youngsville, Louisiana, then reportedly changed her story to claim that Ruth had beaten herself up with the piece of furniture.
But investigators refused to believe her story, and charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability.
Her alleged beating left Ruth suffering a suspected fractured left arm, as well as bruises to her head and lacerations on the same arm.
Perkins was booked into Santa Rosa County Jail on $25,000 bond and released from custody Thursday morning, according to the Pensacola News Journal.
Ruth McClellan-Perkins’ Facebook page says she got married to Perkins on April 11 this year, just six weeks before the alleged domestic abuse took place.
Replying to congratulations from well-wishers, Ruth said: ‘Yes, I’m very, very happy.’
