Update: English versions coming to PC (Steam, GOG, EGS), PS4 and Switch.

The Epic Games Store has seemingly outed several upcoming English localizations for the Trails series ahead of a Nihon Falcom 40th Anniversary event tomorrow.

There are now store pages for The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero, The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure, The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie, and The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails. For those up to date with the Trails series in Japan, these are localized titles for Zero no Kiseki, Ao no Kiseki, Hajimari no Kiseki, and Nayuta no Kiseki, respectively.

All games are published by NIS America. We can get some details from the store pages, although we should note some of these might be placeholders or temporary. Trails into Reverie will have dual English and Japanese audio, while the rest will seemingly have Japanese voices with English subtitles. (Though the Nayuta page only shows JP voice and text, this is likely an error).

Additionally, Trails from Zero is listed to release in Fall 2022, while the rest are slated for 2023, at least going by these pages. Note, this doesn't necessarily mean the games will be exclusive to Epic Games Store on PC, as Trails of Cold Steel III and Trails of Cold Steel IV are also available on EGS, in addition to Steam. It's also possible console releases for these titles will come before the PC versions, though that is speculation at the moment.

If you are not already familiar:

Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure, are a duology of games taking place in between the Trails in the Sky trilogy and Trails of Cold Steel tetralogy (in other words, they are the 4th and 5th game in the overall series, often called the 'Crossbell Duology'). They have long been unlocalized into English, acting as a sort of 'missing gap' in the storyline that Western players have only recently had a chance to use fan translation efforts to fill. The games originally released for PSP in Japan in 2010/2011, and have since gotten ports to PlayStation 4, Vita, and Switch.

Trails into Reverie is the next game in the series following Trails of Cold Steel IV (aka Reverie is the 10th game in the series). It released in Japan last year for PS4, with a Switch release in the region forthcoming.

The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails is a spinoff of the series, unrelated to the mainline Trails plot, with gameplay elements more similar to other Falcom titles like Zwei II. It originally released for PSP in Japan in 2012, with a PS4 remaster released today.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Seeing "Fall 2022" being the earliest one, and the other three being 2023. That's gonna be a long wait.

I don't think these are going to be EGS exclusives. The trailers mention "PC Game" so that probably means for Steam and GOG too.

Official images seem to only show PC as the platform so it might be more than just EGS. It's also on consoles too if you prefer that.

I wonder if this will kill the momentum the series has built up in the west. I've heard all the excuses from "the games have a lot of text" to "Falcom is small give them a break" but those excuses don't hold water when almost every other JRPG (including text heavy ones like Utawarerumono) are released in the west much closer to their japanese release dates compared to Trails. Get your shit together, Falcom.

So zero and azure come right after sky3? Or storywise is it after cold steel 2?
After Sky the 3rd. The events in Zero and Azure happen partially at the same time as Cold Steel 1 & 2 and are reflected in both arcs.

I think so. They just don't care much about they're english fans. If they did they would invest in us with worldwide releases like everyone else does.

Her time has come

And so I will buy her game.

Really excited to play these. I bet those fan translators are a little skeeved about all the work they put in on the Crossbell games now.
Then again, with the localizations we've been getting lately, the fan one is likely to still be better, and should be easy to port to PC versions.

Really happy to hear they're finally coming over.

*edit*

Steam pages are already up.

NISA licensed/bought the translations/localization from Geofront, so the upcoming localizations are heavily based on those.
