Hideo Baba, best known for his lengthy time as producer of the Tales of series with Bandai Namco, joined Square Enix as president of Studio Istolia a couple years ago but has now resigned from his position and left the company.
According to the press release, Hideo Baba left Square Enix in March 2019 but has stepped down from his position as Studio Istolia president in December 2018.

Here’s a comment from Hideo Baba:
“As of today, with the change in Studio Istolia’s management policies, I have resigned as the company president at the end of December 2018 to make way for the new generation of talent, and I also resigned from Square Enix at the end of March 2019.
I’d like to once again express my gratitude to the Square Enix Group for having provided various experiences. I will continue supporting from the sidelines , and wish with all my heart for the continued growth of the Square Enix Group.”

Information on the future of Hideo Baba and Project Prelude Rune, which was being developed by Studio Istolia, was not shared.
Project Prelude Rune is in development for PlayStation 4. Check our previous report for a look at its earlier teaser that was shown last September.

I wonder what really happened?
Japanese devs are infamously tight lipped about spilling tea on their employers, so we'll probably never know.

I was interested to see what he does next. I love the Tales games. I met Baba once and got a copy Xillia signed.
