First screenshots of Ice Pick's Pathologic remake

Game was Kickstarted back in 2014

Pathologic is a story-driven, open-word survival game, a reimagining of an acclaimed cult game from 2005 developed by Russian studio Ice-Pick Lodge. In Pathologic you play as one of three specialists send to a strange steppe Town to fight against a misterious, terrible Plague that is spreading deadly fast. Every character is different, and thus offers different gameplay experiences: one is a rational scientist from the Capital; the second is a local shaman's son, and the third one a blessed fool, a half-crazy girl with no memory of herself. What is real magic to one of them becomes backwards superstitions to another.

This remake is going to destroy me again like the original. Looks great so far! Hopefully they get the attention they deserve.

I'm honestly really looking forward to this, as they describe it as more of a reimagining than a remake, and Ice Pick Lodge are like, the David Lynch of videogames.

Really hopeful it has a comprehensible english translation at launch too.

Damn, this place sounds like it's going to be an eldritch hellscape
Sometimes things seem to be confused about what they are! Why does the Cathedral feature mechanical motifs? How can walls form blisters? Why do branches in warning fires seem to be bone-shaped? Why is everyone saying that Simon Kain’s private study is a state of being rather than a place and that the town is alive?!
However, the most important new feature (perhaps truly the most important new feature of this whole reimagining project) is the robust disease mechanics, which is two-fold, since the plague exists both in the outer world and inside your own body. In the outer world, we’ve added infected food and objects, both the ones you can take (like clothes) and external ones (like water barrels). Infected districts now feature more threats – subtler ones, like the so-called “draughts” floating above the ground that only infect you if you walk upstream, or “plague faces” – certain spots that can infect you if you turn your back to them. The very air itself can become poisonous, too. (Don’t worry though, different districts will feature different sets of threats, so they won’t become insurmountable messes.)

Really hoping this game delivers. Always wanted to play a game that actually makes a person feel the weight of making a decision. Things like taking a life should be a huge deal and hopefully if this game deals with things like that realistically.
