First half of 2023 alone is going to be INSANE for gaming

After watching all the release dates announced during The Game Awards I had to put together a quick list of just the games that are coming in the first half of 2023 and my wallet is already screaming at me:
  • Fire Emblem Engage - January 20
  • Forspoken - January 24
  • Dead Space - January 27
  • Hogwarts Legacy - February 10
  • Wild Hearts - February 17
  • Atomic Heart - February 21
  • Like a Dragon Ishin - February 21
  • PSVR 2 and games - February 22
  • Octopath Traveler 2 - February 24
  • Destiny 2: Lightfall - February 28
  • Wo Long - March 3
  • TLoU PC - March 3
  • Skull and Bones - March 9
  • Resident Evil 4 - March 24
  • Jedi Survivor - March 17
  • Bayonetta Origins - March 17
  • Crime Boss - March 28
  • SMB Movie - April 7
  • HFW: Burning Shores DLC - April 19
  • Dead Island 2 - April 28
  • Legend of Zelda: TotK - May 12
  • Suicide Squad: KtJL - May 26
  • Street Fighter 6 - June 2
  • Diablo 4 - June 6
  • Final Fantasy 16 - June 22nd
Games with no specific release date:
  • Returnal PC - Early 2023
  • Forza Motorsport 8 - Early 2023
  • Starfield - Early 2023
  • Redfall - Early 2023

I'm sure I'm missing a bunch so I apologize in advance if I missed some good ones.

I do feel a bit worried that I'm just going to skip over some amazing games because I only have so many hours in the day. What does everyone think?

So is the second half.

I know some folks here will reply with "wE sAy ThAt eVeRy yEaR", but 2023 is obviously going to be something special.
I imagine the second half is going to be heavily informed by how well some of these titles do. If it's a bloodbath developers will probably push out games to not compete with things like Starfield.

Will get all these games. Fuck.

Where is gamepass when you need it. MS needs to go out and get Jedi Surivor, Hogwarts, Suicide Squad and SF6 on gamepass on day one. I cant afford to spend $1,000 on video games next year.

70% of those will get delayed
70% of them were already delayed from 2022.

And a good chunk of them from 2021.

And let’s be honest most of them won’t be any good. There is probably a “2022 is going to be NUTS” thread somewhere that lists Saints Row lol. You shouldn’t get all these games unless you are going to play them.

Yep we had to sacrifice 2022 to get that much next year. Every month there is at least two games that for sure gonna rate at worst an 8 for me.

Dead Island 2 - Day 1, Full Price
Starfield - Day 1, Full Price
Diablo 4 - Day 1, Full Price
FF16 - Day 1, Full Price

I don't think there was ever a better year in gaming for me.

I forgot: Baldurs Gate 3 - Day 1, Full Price

Interested in all of these plus a few more such as Wanted: Dead. For sure not getting all them at launch, but damn. Glad there are so many good titles next year already.

Can't wait for 2024 where half these games will be released after getting their obligatory delays and we'll have this exact same thread in December 2023 lmao I swear you guys never learn

9 on that list for me. Definitely gonna be a busy one.

Inevitably more delays on the way but there was SO much lost this year that it should be a little better at least.

I was going to put Wo Long on my list, but got the game wrong. I was actually thinking that WuKong game. Been waiting for that one.

Don't worry most will see delays

Yup.

Diablo 4, Suicide Squad en FF16 will be delayed by at least 6 months for sure.

The delays already happened. Look around this forum and see the nonstop complaints about 2022 being a dead year and everything being delayed month after month. This overload of content is the result.

The funny yet sad thing is that I know of at least 3 posters here who will still complain at the end of year 2023 that they had nothing to play.

Yeah, and things that WEREN'T already delayed that were supposed to come out next year inevitably will be. It should hopefully just be a little better this time around as people are mostly back to reality now.

But as you say, there's never a real drought, I played 20+ games this year despite the delays. Complainers are just ignoring the good stuff on offer.

Yeah and that's just the ones with confirmed dates, many more titles scheduled for first half of year that don't have exact dates yet. I loved a lot this year, but next year is going to potentially rival 2017 in game quality, quantity, and variety.

I am Become Bilbo Baggins
Yep. Should be a vintage year for gaming. Fort half is looking fantastic. Hopefully we'll get big hitters like Spider-Man 2 and some surprises, like CA announcing a new historical Total War game.
