Fighting games need to do more beta testing. 1000s of people playing the actual game. Your typical office testing isn't really playtesting, it's making sure the game will pass console cert and bigger, more horrible bugs are gone.

I may regret asking but how are players able to spend two days with a game and find broken shit that the entirety of QA and developers didn't pick up on in the course of development of the game?

In addition to what everyone else has mentioned, I wouldn't be surprised if some things are known but aren't addressed by release due to deadlines and issue prioritization.

This, please.

I got wrecked. it was a wake up call I think. I won my last two RAWs and my head got too big.
How does the body bag fit? :p I'm not entirely sure what you were expecting, but I would take it in stride.

I remember doing commentary for RAW when they first started; I'm glad to see that it's still going (even with it going on hiatus for a couple of months).

IIRC Sf5 will do a beta test prior to launch. That's the right way to go IMO.

Another vote for this one.

LI Joe talking about how a few characters (example Liu Kang) can do block string fireball dash cancel the fireball into run into another block string. //Kreygasm

Really liking how fast this game looks.

Capcom need to speed up grandpa fighter 5.

So dash cancel and running are two different things in MKX? Never played the series but this sounds like pressure heaven to me being a wolverine main.

Omg, godlike title. +1

here is an interesting twitter discussion

Random thought as I'm killing lunch hour hunting for MKX info on my laptop. Is the concept of "FGC" relevant/accurate now? Was it ever?
https://twitter.com/JayViscant/status/586619230042238976
What I mean by that. We aren't one community, we're 5-6 different communities that (occasionally) tolerate each other, with minimal overlap
https://twitter.com/JayViscant/status/586619281950937088
And yeah SF4 is the biggest and the loudest. But I'm surprised at how outwardly hostile they are towards all things not SF4 esp. Smash/NRS
https://twitter.com/JayViscant/status/586619465468547072
Maybe it always was like this. Hasn't "Marvel player" been an insult since 1997? Even in the old days SF/Tekken/anime had minimal overlap
https://twitter.com/JayViscant/status/586619652337373184
We're obviously better off than FPS/MOBA communities who are extra hostile towards different games. But not by much. Not anymoe.
https://twitter.com/JayViscant/status/586619942268600320
I guess I shouldn't be SURPRISED then at how resistant some parts of our scene are to new games. But I'm a little disappointed anyways.

@JayViscant I had a conversation recently with @AvoidThePuddle about FGC and players like us, Justin, Ricky, Chris G, etc are rare breeds.
https://twitter.com/AlexValleSF4/status/586676681340891136
I'm guessing the above is a sequel to this...
People should play what they want whether it has critical approval or not. The Capcom FGC is coming dangerously close to SF4 only in places.

If anything the current FGC is a fascinating study in social media and perception. I said it during my UFGT panel but I'll say it again.

Stream monsters killed SFxT, not the players. Complaining on streams and forums damaged the game's longevity more than any gameplay issue

@JayViscant Ah, the power of the mob mind, as smart as it's dumbest member :/

And in Marvel right now the "lol ded gaem" meme has shaped perception even though participation is still strong. Who truly holds the power?

There’s nothing wrong with playing ANY game. Everyone has their preference, and at the end of the day it’s important to show respect to all.

when did we start playing fighting games to entertain people on the internet? fuck

Viscant is too good to having legitimate discussions on Twitter.

Character count too low to have anything of significance be discussed on there.

Some moves can be held and then canceled. Liu Kang variant 2 fireball is one of them. So you can indeed do a block string into the move, cancel it, then continue pressure or even combo. Doing this costs energy so you cannot do it forever. Also if it hits and you combo you can only do it once(except A-List Cage who can do it twice).

So for example, with Liu Kang you could do f+4,4~fireball cancel, 1,1,3, then end the combo.

Last time I played him I was taking games. Tonight I was playing like a dumbshit.

I think Viscant is conflating "SF only FGC" with "stream monster mob mentality". That's two separate issues to talk about he starts to talk about the former and then goes into the latter.

And he is definitely right that the whole "lol ded gaem" meme is one of the silliest things in recent memory. Do I have to bust out the list of REAL dead games that have come and gone since MVC3's release?

Though in the context of stream monster mob mentality they only know of two games... SF and Marvel so I guess in their eyes Marvel is dead compared to SF.

When SF5 comes out, I do hope another title (maybe MK X?) can at least moderately compete with it. I love the series, but it's just been so dominating for the last couple of years as the FGC. I wouldn't feel bad at all if something else replaced it completely (of course not happening). I just feel worn out by it sometimes.

Makes me think of Skullgirls and the hostility it's gotten since it's reveal. And how neither the Capcom community or the anime community really wanted/wants them. Biscuits' constant shitting on the game during TSBs sticks out in my mind in particular.

What can you do though? Can't make people like something they don't like. Can't control how they express those feelings either. Not really.

Bust out that list homie.

I challenge the notion that stream monsters killed sfxt. Capcom killed it tbh by making a game that wasn't good and one that couldn't distinguish itself from sf4 enough to be worth playing it with.
