Horizon prob did 130-140k including digital. Digital is pretty much almost half of PlayStation sales(and more internationally).

It’s also competing with two big open world games on the same platform this time. Also, the ps5 digital exist so yeah, theres a much larger focus on digital sales. Those console owners are not accounted for at all along with the the people buying it digitally on the physical ps5.

Japan has mostly stayed physical because of the switches popularity but its not 1:1 the same with other platforms. Also, this is Japan.

It’s about as useless a metric as uk physical
Useless? lol

Even if digital split is at 30%, it wouldn't magically make the sales so much better.

True that just having physical sales doesn't paint the full picture, but most of the sales still comes from physical and digital sales aren't still that significant.

So yeah, its dissapointing. But considering the non existance Sony presence in Japan, that dhould have been expected. The game will perform much better elsewhere, regardless.

Horizon did about as well as could be expected. Other Western series have noticeably declined in Japan since 2017 whereas that has not happened with Forbidden West.

The PS5 version actually did a bit better than I thought.

The physical split in the UK was almost 50/50 so yeah, physical sales don’t really tell us much of anything anymore. Theres is an entire line of consoles that don’t have a blu ray drive.

That line of consoles is the worst selling SKU, by far.

And Japan(still) favors way more physical than digital. Japan is not UK. So this data is a clear indication that Horizon 2 didn't grow *much* in japan.

It doesn’t matter theres still a significant increase in digital in every market due to teh introduction of digital consoles alone. There were over 200k digital ps5’s sold in japan, thats more than total number of xbox series and xbox ones combined.

Digital is significantly higher in every region than it was in 2017, even if its not as high in japan as it is in the UK or North America

I wouldn't say that's a reflection on Horizon though. Few PlayStation-centric franchises will be able to grow in Japan on PS5 so in that context Forbidden West has done quite well.

Of course it does. It always does.

But lets wait and see how Horizon 2 performs next week.
