I honestly don't get MS. I mean...i get why they are thinking about their strongest markets...but after all the aggressive promos for Japan during TGS, it's weird to see them giving up during this entire fall. Not like they were anywhere close to hitting PS5 numbers but at least they were doing good for their standards.

That said...i can see Sony is also prioritizing Europe and USA these 2 months.

Well at least they are up on last year, doesn't mean much though.

Is there another PS5 shortage in Japan? I don't expect it would do Switch numbers but a decrease week to week like that during December doesn't seem right.

They showed up and provided a device that would better suit Japanese desires after the complaints about the original Xbox. It's clear there is nothing that MS can do to be more successful in Japan so just being there will have to be good enough. Besides there are Japanese developers MS wants to make Xbox games and they should at least be present to request those titles.

Resident Cheap Arse
Throwing out some good vibes to those 64 legends who bought a New 2DS and continue to keep the system in the charts in 2022.

May their adventure into the 3ds library be great and their battery life long.

Key takeaways from this week:

1. Holiday software numbers are finally appearing. The hold for both Pokemon and Sparks of Hope are really really good.
2. After several weeks of disappointing debts, DQ Treasures come in with a pretty good performance. Should have some good holiday legs hopefully and gives me hope for Crisis Core.
3. The days of Switch doing big big holiday numbers are over. For a platform in its 5th holiday they are very healthy, but doesn't look like they will get anywhere near 200,00 a week this time
4. PS5 hardware is doing much better than the abysmal numbers it was doing this time last year, but still not as much stock as I would like.

And this is why Japanese publishers don't want to bother investing resources into Xbox versions unless they are basically paid to do so, i.e. Persona 5 Royal, Wo Long, Yakuza series, etc. If it's not on Gamepass, it's not on Xbox.

Xbox needs to get that Series X production fixed. However, they seem to be on track for beating original Xbox sales by the end of the year, making it the second best selling Xbox and 3rd best selling US system in Japan.

And in only two years.

But for some reason there's doom posting in the thread.

I honestly don't get MS.

Get? They are supply constrained in Japan, they are not sending enough stock, especially for the X, and they seem to be not sending much in the way of S either but at least they have enough of those to sell over a thousand units for Series weekly.

Microsoft is having real problems getting X production resolved, Sony announced they are fixing their PS5 issues and are about to send more stock to Japan and rest of asia next year.
