PS5 finally passed WiiU's launch week number. We could use a couple of celebration threads.

B Bodomism why are you so obsessed with sales in Japan? Especially when there is basically no available PlayStation 5 stock there yet.

You don't seem interested in the big picture as much as constantly highlighting things that put Nintendo in a positive light or Sony and Microsoft in a negative light.

We’ve always had weekly Japanese sales threads! I don’t see why it should stop when it’s become one sided to the console wars! Which I don’t care much for!

Some of us do care to just want to see sales figures from other countries! Thank you! B Bodomism for continuing the threads from previous posters! Also thank the other poster for UK/EU sales thread too!

Return of the king. Great to see ps5 stock return to respectable levels.

Good to see Disgaea have a decent opening and I'm even a little impressed by xbox.

Sales threads have been on GAF for decades. And Japan is where we get the best data from.

Japan weekly sales thread has been a thing for years on GAF. It would suck if the standard was dropped considering Japan actually gives clear data on the movement of units.

what a disgraceful post, hiding yourself with Nintendo's character avatar and constantly shitting Nintendo for no reason.

I'm as big of a Nintendo fan as there is. I've owned and played the hell out of every Nintendo console ever made since the NES (yes, including the Virtual Boy). We have SIX Switch consoles in our home.

That doesn't make constant fanboying from people like you and your buddy here, constantly pissing on PlayStation and Xbox any less annoying.

Good to see that Disgaea is growing again. Also look like PS5 supply is starting to get better!
still bad though, I think sony might actually have to kill the ps4 earlier than they otherwise would have just to be able to get the ps5 supply up.

B Bodomism has bias, I admit that but this particular OP thread had nothing of that. So I don't follow your logic here.

If you're really offended with these sales numbers you could've easily ignored this thread but you didn't.

Also I don't only obsess over sales in Japan but worldwide sales is my jam too, since Japan is consistently handing out weekly sales numbers with an actual figures, you're going to see more posts about Japan sales than other countries sales.

Japan is also 2nd only to USA in term of dedicated video game market size.

It's amazing how many times you've had to say this same thing in all these threads.

You just know people wouldn't be asking you this if Sony were selling the best.

I doubt anyone brings this up in the Sony circle jerk sales threads. It's only a problem when Nintendo sells well.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Really surprised at the high sales of Clubhouse games. Isn't it just a collection of boardgames? Looks boring to me, but that's my opinion ofc.

Judging by the shipments in their last financial report, Sony is close to killing the PS4 anyway. The fact that PS5 is getting that Demon Slayer game is pretty good news for them too.
He wouldn't have posted it if Sony or Microsoft had sold the best.
Ah so your complaint is that Bodomism doesn't post enough threads. Tell us which country's regular sales data you'd like to see posted on the forum, and Bodomism or myself will happily post them.

Perhaps not, but this forum as a whole wouldn't complain about Sony sales, Sony and Nintendo fans alike.

Sales threads are never problematic when it comes to Sony, and they're always a problem with Nintendo.
Yes, you would. Do you realize how many times people say things like SonyGAF, Sony fanboys "circle jerk", etc.?

Hmmmm it will be close. I'd imagine Sony would be happy to make fuck all ps4's and make the ps5 instead. I wonder will the Pro or slim get the bullet first.
probably they need to, factory space is limited and they need to make sure to keep supply from falling behind ps4 levels as shareholders probably wouldn't be too happy if that happened.

B Bodomism why are you so obsessed with sales in Japan? Especially when there is basically no available PlayStation 5 stock there yet.

You don't seem interested in the big picture as much as constantly highlighting things that put Nintendo in a positive light or Sony and Microsoft in a negative light.

japan sales have been on gaf since mid 2000s at least. I remember them during the ps2 era. I don’t think it’s obsession, it’s just continuing a trend. Plus it’s the ?second largest gaming market worldwide so it’s nice to see the data

has nothing to do with putting Nintendo in a positive light. They have made a lot of risky decisions to put themselves in a position for success; good for them.

The fans waiting for the ps5 to be in stock wouldn't either!

Konami continues to accelerate surpassing 2.5 million sales, while Momotaro will overtake Minecraft as the top selling 3rd Party game in Japan physically next week;
In the coming weeks a few games like Snack World, Trials of Mana and DBFZ will drop outside of the ranking because of the imminent launch of Monster Hunter Rise, Olive Town & Bravely Default 2.
Capcom
will become the top selling 3rd Party in April, while Marvelous will become a Top 5 3rd Party around the same time.

Marvelous will become 6 I think. They'll go above Level 5, but Capcom will Rise as well, so the number 5 publisher will be SE with around 1.4 million. I don't think Marvelous can quite reach that, even with SoS and RF5.

Yes, you would. Do you realize how many times people say things like SonyGAF, Sony fanboys "circle jerk", etc.?
Because those people hijacked Nintendo thread left and right pooping out their hot takes while trolling? Lol then maybe don't bitch around what like you did here.

Japan sales data have been posted on GAF even during the WiiU era, remember how sad that went, truly a bonafide SonyGaf era moments constantly shitting, beating the dead horse of the console.

After witnessing Momotaro basically become the first 3rd Party franchise to easily surpass 2.5 million sales in Japan since Yo-Kai & Monster Hunter, I'm ready for Marvelous to be the next publisher to very easily breeze past records of their franchises.

Bandai Namco/Marvelous Top 10
  1. Fishing Spirits: Nintendo Switch Version (Bandai Namco) - 563.929
  2. Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum 'n' Fun! (Bandai Namco) - 554.560
  3. Disney Tsum Tsum Festival (Bandai Namco) - 185.990

I think Bandai will fall out of the Top 5, outside of Taiko & Fishing Spirits they don't have any games that surpass 200K, which I think would be the issue with them going forward unless they actually find another hit on the system. When we remove games that are in the 100-200K range they only will have around 1.1M sales across Fishing Spirits & Taiko.
Sakuna, Olive Town & Rune Factory 5
will be able to surpass 1.3M by the end of 2021.
Overall I expect the floor to enter the Top 30 by the end of next year to be 200K, Sakuna is definitely going to get there eventually - the game has already sold 40K this quarter so surpassing 250K by the end of the year is definitely doable.
Their first million game in my mind is going to end up being Olive Town. Currently in the Top 20 on Amazon.co.jp with quite a few weeks left before it launches. Friends of Mineral Town has done well for a remake without much marketing but to me it seems that especially with New Horizon bringing such a new audiences to the Switch they will capitalize on it. With good WoM and good future support they might also find an evergreen title in their hands.
Also Rune Factory 5 definitely seems like a it has potential to surpass 500K.
Depending on how Marvelous uses this momentum they could definitely become a major player on the market.

Obviously if Bandai start to reveal some actual games with potential, things might change but their current strategy isn't exactly making me hopeful. Considering the relative sizes of both companies and the amount of games Bandai releases it shouldn't really be close, yet here we are. Konami, Capcom, Marvelous, Atlus are the publishers that will benefit the most in H1 2020; while Square at least will maintain their position with Bravely Default 2. Still there is time for more games to be revealed especially for Golden Week and summer.

This graph really puts Bandia Namco's decline into perspective. Back in the early 10s they were able to get big sales from putting out a big number of games on 3DS, PS3 and PSV. They've been moving their PS3 franchises and sales over to the PS4, but they haven't been very good at moving their 3DS and PSV audience onto Switch, and as a result have seen a big decline.

Marvelous isn't on the graph, but if they can get 1.5 million + from Olive Town and Rune Factory I'd be very pleasantly surprised!
