Digimon Survive NSW: PS4 has to be like 3:1

Great boost in hardware overall, PS5 with the big dick jump.

Xenoblade number is meh, but CE doesn't count and vouchers might've pushed digital to like 50%.

GT7 with the big bunduru energy (this is a fact, pls no 50 DKP minus from the mods).

Digimon not charting on PS4 is a further sign of where things are going in Japan.

[NSW] Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Limited Edition Included) (Nintendo, 12/01/17) – 97,732 (New)

[NSW] Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (Nintendo, 07/29/22) – 112,728 (New)

Good numbers for XC3 and with digital higher than 2017, although some where expecting much higher growth due to the difference in Switch user base from 2017.

Tales of Arise with barely milion PS5 reached half of what XB3 did on a 24 milions of switch

Is Japan abandoning JRPG ? Or sticking just to big names FF, DQ and Pokemon ?

Good to see Live A Live hang in there for another week. I hope Treasure of the Rudras 2D-H2 is under consideration.

PlayStation Digimon Survive sales...

Other than that, it seems that all three consoles did well this week.

These numbers are consistent with previous Xenoblades afaik, and Tales is a much bigger brand in Japan. worldwide Xenoblade 3 could match or pass Arise without any trouble

And least digital sales should be way stronger than 2017, RE7-8 had a similar effect.

Let's see if PS5 is actually hitting that turning in availability that Sony has promised for the rest of the year. Things have been generally improving since June.

Definitely not meh, Xenoblade 2 sold less and the game is at almost 3m copies global.

Xenoblade chronicles 3 only sold about 15k more than Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in japan, and thats between an install base of a few million vs over 25 million. Feels almost like taking that into consideration even with digital and CE the franchise is pretty much flat sales wise

Shows very slow growth for the series in Japan. The install base for switch is ridiculous high in Japan. Watch splatoon 3 will absolutely murder sales wise later this year in Japan … such a shame since xeno 3 is awesome but I guess the rest of the world will have to make up for this slow start

Even switch sports and mario strikers are doing big numbers. It’s kind of sad for a JRPG series who’s experiencing break out critical acclaim to sell these kind of numbers with this install base.

I’m just beginning to think the nintendo market in japan is just very casual. Stuff like sports or clubhouse does insane numbers, SMTV, Metroid Dread, Xenoblade, etc. they all struggle to do similar numbers

There's some difference between series in different countries but I don't think it falls along casual/hardcore lines.

Metroid and Mario Strikers are bigger in the West than Japan, while for Splatoon and Ring Fit it's the other way around. And then then you things like Zelda, Mario, Smash and Pokémon that are big everywhere.

Yeah it's weird, for such a weeb game, Japan isn't really in love with it. Global always carrying.
As far as I know, the last official Nintendo figure puts XC 2 at 400k(With digital).

So yeah, sells well in Japan, but the audience was always elsewhere

But it’s a very specific audience that plays Xenoblade. I don’t expect sales will end up significantly higher than 2. Some growth, for sure. But it’s never going to be a top-tier franchise.

Also, digital bit-by-bit eating away at physical. Hard to say what the ratio is with this one, but no question the ratio of physical vs digital with 2 in 2017 leaned a lot more physical.

Tales is really big in Japan, they have yearly festival

Xenoblade 3 price is pretty steep too. The game is pushing damn near 8000 yen. It's not a mainstream purchase.
Famitsu didn't track digital sales right? I think Xenoblade 3 have higher digital sales in Japan since it's included in the catalogue ticket. You get it cheaper with the catalogue ticket.

Good point. I bet voucher purchases are big with XC3. I honestly expect 60% digital.
Astral Chain had a similar price and had over 60% digital, so its certainly possible.

XC 3 had the best debut of the franchise by a significant margin. Plus, using vouchers basically makes XC 3 50% cheaper in Japan, so that must have been a major factor in it, especially as digital becomes more and more mainstream.

We will see once late October comes in, during Nintendo's financial report, but I fully expect that XC 3 is already above 200k in Japan alone with digital sales. Once September comes and goes, I expect XC 3 sales in japan to be around 400k(Physical + digital), but I guess we will see.

But yeah, Xenoblade was always more popular in the west. So Japan was never going to do the heavy lifting for the game.
