I liked Expeditions Viking and Expeditions Rome, so I'll check this out, thanks :].

They aren't the most polished and incredible games, but they're not afraid to try different things, both of those games are really different from each other, and I've heard that Expeditions Conquistador was quite different again. They're crpgs with more of an emphasis on tactics than usual, actually pretty challenging games. And they also both have strategy elements, and an overworld map. Like in Viking you have to forge alliances and build up your village, and in Rome you mostly manage your army. And in both you've got deadlines. And while they both allow you to play as a man or a woman, they do try to be reasonably historically accurate, more than most games. For Expeditions Rome, for instance, iirc they got the voice actors to do the latin pronunciation of words that Romans would've had at that particular time.

So yeah, if you're into games that are trying to do interesting things, and don't mind if they're not necessarily the most polished or high budget, and you think having more tactical style battles in your crpg sounds interesting, you should give their games a look.

I like the Expeditions series. My favorite being Conquistador. I don't love the portraits, but I will wishlist based of past experience with the series.

I thought they were making a different kind of game. Is this another studio that picked up the IP ? I did like both Vikings and Rome (Rome was too big though).

It's some of the Expeditions devs under a different banner (Campfire Cabal). These guys patched Expeditions Rome when it was thought to be no longer supported.

The Expeditions IP is owned by THQ, as is Campfire Cabal, so no continuation issue there.

Expeditions is a great series of games.
