Are they reaching out to Massive for the PS5 like they did for Dirt 5 on the XSX when there were clear issues with the patch?

What time is it?
Pages and pages of warriors fighting about a cross-platform, next-generation backwards compatible patch from Ubisoft. I can't wait for the rap video analyzing the differences in the footage that DF presented. Teenage angst and a global pandemic are a winning combination.

They issue is... the "next-gen" BC patch makes the game looks worst than the BC game you were playing before the patch.

In any case it is indeed another big win for Series X.

The title is actually "what's up with PS5 visuals?" but I changed it since the Hitman 3 analysis title wasn't popular.

Summary incoming:

- Game is running in BC mode, or as Tom calls it "BC+ mode"
- Notable downgrades to PS5 version compared to PS4 Pro, missing fog and other effects
- Series S targets 60fps/1080p (dynamic)
- Series X targets 60fps/4k, as high as native 4k, drops as low as 1800p
- PS5 reconstructs to 4k from a max resolution of 1890p, lowest res they counted was 1080p
- Series X takes lead with better BC enhancements
- Newer consoles have better texture pop-in
- Tom hopes the missing effects on PS5 is a bug that will be addressed, Alex surprised this patch even made it out the door in current state
- Black levels are crushed on PS5 version (around 8:20 mark)
- Reflections not working properly on PS5, flat out missing in some areas, Alex says it is definitely a bug that needs to be addressed
- PS5 holds 60 fps very well, Tom did notice one instance of screen tearing around the 12:15 mark that wasn't duplicated on Series X
- Series X holds 60 well but has more slight dips than PS5 probably due to higher settings
- PS5 version clearly not tapping into the increased I/O bandwidth

Sounds like a crappy patch. Hope it gets fixed

EDIT

Framerate stats from VG Tech, who also counted the same resolutions as DF does and notes the same missing effects on PS5 version.

The PS5 version patch sounds a bit shit :/.

You're right, it is embarrassing for Ubisoft.

And for Sony...ooofff, can’t handle The Division 2 at 4K and has to tur...

...no sorry I can’t. This is squarely on UbiSoft and their patented “Head Up Our Ass” development philosophy. The PS5 is capable of getting closer to the XSX performance than this.

need I remind you what sony gaf was doing with dirt 5 comparisons before patch, where there were obvious bugs in the x version?

The difference is this is a patch for a last gen game in backwards compatibility.. which is what I and the poster I quoted were talking about.

Dirt5 was the first next generation comparison right? After the patch wasn’t the ps5 version still more stable fps?

Nope, it's a BC comparison.

It's a PS4 game, patched to use the PS5s' BC boost mode not a PS5 version of the game.

A next gen version does not exist yet.
The patches are no different than the Pro/X patches last gen. It's a second round of them for the higher spec in the BC environment.

I wish they would drop the "next gen patch" talk, unless they literally recompiled the game to take advantage of the specs outside the BC environment, natively. It's misleading.

Taking the high road huh?

Where was this response when looking at Control on XSX with it's stuttering issues? Should Sony fans not shot their shot? Regardless of the answer to that question, did it stop them from shooting it?

I wish people could just get a consensus on this across both fanbases because these type of threads are always fraught with biases and goal post shifting.

so basically either the team didn't playtest the PS5 version, or they did playtest and just shoved the update out unfinished and bugged on purpose.

I'm nor sure which would be worse 🤔
