Analysis DF: CONTROL PS5 vs Xbox Series X/S 60 Fps and RT mode

So I'm seeing dips lower than what DF's counter shows on Series X.......Dips to the low 40's......

It's also funny that as soon as Tom tries to talk about Series X in graphics mode, the thing falls to 28fps. Then he pretends nobody saw that and goes on to claim rock solid performance on Series X.....I also noticed that they never stressed the Series X with high alpha footage or hissing enemies as they did for PS5.....Let's see Series X hitting the same level of alpha and effects TOM?

Yet, that's not even needed. Series X falls to 48fps with no combat, just lots of alpha in the air in one scene.....That is definitely GPU related, Series X is known to struggle with effects more than PS5 and the icing on the cake is that TOM made sure to highlight 11.38 vs 11.41, but said nothing about 25GB with decompression tech vs 42GB? And people say these guys are professional and non biased.....Yes, they are about as straight as a hook allright...

And of course, anytime PS wins, the developer is contacted......Did DF contact I/O when Hitman's resolution was limited to 1800p on PS5? Did they ask them why or that they should patch it to 4k as an option....I'm guessing no, yet for Series X, they are just not doing comparisons, they are all about trying to get Series X to look or run better than PS, but the truth is, you can't patch in better performance for a system which has more bottlenecks, you can't patch in better compression and SSD technology in Series X over PS5. With all these developer contacts for XBOX, DF is truly MS's third PR/QA arm......

I’m getting tired of DF bias and how they’re constantly put On a pedestal for being the ‘best’.

According to one of the biggest xboys the written article for the video barely mentions any negatives and that they both dip slightly. I myself haven’t read the written article, just watched the video. But If they’re written stuff isn’t matching what’s actually in their videos when they fully well know their audience won’t even watch and would rather just read the print, then that’s a huge problem.

It’s clear from the video the dips are bigger and more frequent on series x. Either they watched it and trolling or they didn’t watch and are commenting on a video they’ve not watched.

So gamers on both Xbox and PS win.

Awesome. Here to hoping there is more of that in future.
Sort off....

Apparently lower settings on 60fps mode than last gen. How true that is I haven't looked into it myself but even so 1440p and pretty solid 30fps on XB1X I would expect a solid 60fps on both new systems.

This pic demonstrates what I've thought about Neogaf for a while. Xbox fans happy enjoying a game that is 1 or 2fps less in spots whilst PS fans spend most of their time not playing games, slating every other version and looking quite sad. If you have the best version.... Go play and enjoy it.

funny thing is we still yet to see NX or others on the test of hitman 3, is that because the Series X is running it better?

we have already had this conversation, higher res constant 60fps except 1 tiny area of the game, but as PS fanboys dont like DF we await the NX breakdown
+ whenever you snipe.

But I agree. NXGamer should have released a video. But tbf, he does it part-time and by purchasing all versions with his own money, so can be given a benefit of the doubt that he may just not got the time to do it yet.

I am giving him the benefit of doubt that's why I said we are still waiting

Yet it performs ~5700XT that is <10TF

And it's the only game that shows XSX advantage at the moment

No it isn't, it's the only game that shows a constant large advantage for either console. The PS5 and Series X outperform each other in different situations in different games. Games like Warzone, Rocket League, GR Breakpoint and MK11 are all better on Series X.

Did you know they record more then they show? Or do you 2 think the video is made by magic and then they comment over what they are seeing in real time?

This guy is now using games running in backwards compatibility as the next gen barometer.

Ah yeah so they just left the worst footage to show.. In the video they say xbox drop more and you can see in the sections its doing it in. It isn't hard to figure that it will be dropping frames in similar areas, effects and actions on screen doesn't it? You also make it sound like they finished the game to completation while analysing it to the very end for their write up, guess what they didn't.

The second part of his argument doesn't invalidate the first
What exactly is Riky's argument? Have you followed this thread? because every time one of his arguments gets put down, he changes the conversation.
He's gone from:
xbox version is better because VRR (LOL) Even though it does nothing for the stutter.
xbox version in his words is the same frame drops as Ps5 (lie)
Then his argument shifted to the xbox version is better because it can be installed on removeable storage, which he can transfer to his other xboxs' (kill me)
Now he's shifted the conversation to "yet but Hitman"
now he's giving a small list of games that perform better on xbox, which happen to be last gen games using back compatibility. Arguing about last gen games running in BC mode isn't anything to do with the anything relevant for the new systems.
All those games are Series optimised.
I'm not sure you even know what that means as its just one of the many xbox marketing terms. They're last gen games getting a boost from new hardware. None of them are coded specifically for xbox. warzone vrr right?

What it means is that the game gets additional functionality not present in just playing the Xbox One X version on a Series X.

Example Warzone runs at 120fps on Series X with higher settings, so it's been patched, not just a backwards compatibility boost.

That area suffers sustained 50 FPS proving 4k is overly ambitious for XsX. (And when sniping)

The proper balance between performance and resolution has been struck on PS5. But I bet if PS5 ran at 4k it would exhibit the drops also.

The PS5 got more considered optimisation. As always ❤️❤️❤️

I’m not sure there is any room to debate any of this. Anyway, this is not the Hitman thread.

I might get ostracized but here goes, the game is visually underwhelming. DF Alex B kept saying Remedy are the best in business in visuals etc etc, but I am just not seeing it. Like directly comparing with Miles Morales and how that game looks from an open world perspective, Control's visuals just don't feel up to the mark. There are some nice moments visually speaking here and there in Control, unique art direction but the visual fidelity isn't great as some have pointed out. The npc character models also look weird (excluding the janitor).

Yes. Alex says that because Remedy are a PC developer. Same reason Cyberpunk was hyped through the roof even after its release. Most impressive visuals are Sony exclusives these days due to higher budget and better art direction, but when your only comparison points are Ubi games like they are on PC, everything may look stellar...

Jesus Christ. It is still an Xbox one game regardless of how many patches they release to use Xbox series x features.

It's an opinion, just like saying Sony exclusives "look better", it's not a technical conclusion. The only technical conclusions you can take from games is what they use to achieve their visuals and performance, the rest is personal opinion and it mostly pertains to art direction and attention to detail. That's why for me RDR2 still has the crown, because it combines both.

kinda disappointed all around, would have thought next gen consoles would have done this game better.

coarse there is room to debate, game runs 99% 60fps except 1 area but in 4k vs 1800p 60fps. so there you go I would rather have full 4k and 60fps

is mad because DF didn't do a video on a video of a video of a video on PS5

If 1 area you mean every time you snipe or enter in a grass area...
And of course you rater have 4k with framerate drops than solid 60fps with 1800p.

It is a fairly consistent picture that emerges across titles where these two consoles - at least with cross-gen games that do not take full advantage of the new feature sets (on both platforms) - are very similar but where the XSX suffers from some weird bottle-necking with larger frame drops from time to time. Key question is whether those drops are due to hardware design or tools based (personally I think this is a reflection of the very large shader arrays and/or dual speed memory, i.e. hardware based).

DMC5 on high framerate mode frequently runs 120 fps on PS5 vs around 60 on Series X
So now we can just make stuff up?
If 1 area you mean every time you snipe or enter in a grass area...

Let's do simple math
6 missions in Hitman 3
Ps5 has framerate advantage in 1/6 of the game assuming every second of that mission is under 60fps(it's not)
Xbox has resolution advantage in 6/6 missions
Let's discount the one and say framerate is king
Xbox still has advantage in 83% of the game, and it's a big advantage.
