I havent seen any shots of the last gen version but it almost certainly still using the underlying renderer and multi sampling is a requirement.
Else they basically rewrote the renderer and it makes no sense to include MSAA in nextgen version when you could use a cheaper reconstruction technique.
Will have to investigate further cuz the Alan Wake renderer relies on Multi sampling for transparencies if this is the same renderer then they would be using some sort of multisampling to achieve transparent effects and the PC port breaks when you force MSAA off.
