  • PS5 and Xbox Series X run at native 2560 x 1440p at 60fps with TAA/Reconstruction
  • Xbox Series S runs at native 1600 x 900p at 60fps with TAA/Reconstruction
  • Now motion blur has been added, but it cannot be disabled
  • Same settings on both for grass, shadows, AO and pretty much everything else on Ps5 and XSX
  • XSS has some cutbacks like draw distances and shadows
  • Grass rendering distance is lower on next gen machines compared to the Xbox One X (yes, really weird)
  • PS5 has some drops to the mid 50's where XSX don't and XSX has some drops to the mid 50's where PS5 don't but they are very rare on both machines
  • XSS drops below 50 fps in some rare cases, but seem to be on cutscenes most of the time it happens
  • PS5 and XSS appear to have some tearing at the beginning of the game
  • XSX and XSS have an option to run the game at 1080p with 120Hz, and seem to run all the way from 60 to 120fps with some sections running at around 60 to 80 fps and others at around 90-120 fps on XSX and some 10 fps less on XSS
  • PS5's Dualsense support is a highlight
  • Load times are drastically improved, starting a new game takes about 15 seconds on new machines compared to 58 seconds on Xbox One X

Interesting 120 fps mode inclusion on xbox. Doesnt really run at 120 fps but it should offer up some very interesting comparisons to similar cards on PC.

Interesting that 120hz on Xbox unlocks the framerate. Kinda like the VRR unlock thing Asobo is doing for Flight Sim (though this isn't related to VRR, it's just 120hz I think). DF uses VRR enabled of course though

It's great that they are taking steps to embrace the benefits VRR. I'm going to have to get serious about picking up a 1080p VRR monitor for my XSS.

Xbox SX can't reach 120fps ( it has hard time to reach 100fps) while turning camera into sky.

CPU bottleneck confirmed ? We know that PS5 has horrendous CPU memory latency, I'm sure XS has it too.

Hmm I guess I played in the unlocked mode, but honestly I didn't really noticed anything aside from blurry image. Now I know why...

All shared pool memory consoles have this, especially paired with GDDR as a main memory.

its really hard to say without any like for like comparisons but from what i have seen on youtube benchmarks, the game struggles to run at 120 fps on most machines. it drops frames left and right.

lol what tv do you have? I thought you had to manually select 1080p from the tv output to get the 120 hz mode.

CPU should be capable of 200+fps...

The game's predominantly GPU-limited.

The 120hz mode is 1440p and 900p for the XSX and XSS respectively. DF could only capture it at 1080p, but you will get the full unlocked 1440p on say a LG CX.

Well LG CX and I didn't choose 1080p, I guess 1440p looks soft as fuck in this game. I was finishing Village and in comparison this game looked like I forgot glasses.

Fantastic that you can unlock the frame-rate on S|X.

Ex2520 is my recommendation, fantastic monitor for my Series S.

what Md Ray said ^^

DF can only capture 120hz at 1080p bc there's no 2.1 HDMI capture cards. The game still renders the same resolution internally.

Can’t wait to try this with the dual sense controls. Seems like the other differences are really minor.

The motion blur is kinda horrendous in this game. The game on the SX looks noticeably softer in motion due to it as compared to X1X which renders at the same resolution just w/o motion blur.

Exactly what I was thinking, I think X1X version was better looking, but XSX is way better playing one. And that's what is important.
Just goes to show how good the X1X is, it's not embarrassing itself in these comparisons, considering its age.

A shame Motion Blur can't be disabled.

Well the results are very similar in both PS5 and Series X... weird PS5 lacks the 120Hz mode (I thought it was added to the SDK after CoD received that mode in a BC game).

Haptic support is a nice addiction for PS5 users.

without VRR the unlocked framerate from 120hz enabled would be awful

X1X GPU is still pretty beastly, they should have put that in XSS, who the fuck cares about RT on basic machine. They would not have to pay for chip design and it would be all around better. Paired with Zen2 and SSD, it would be great entry device.

But MS said nope.

I don't know that mode doesn't exists on PS5.
120Hz doesn't need VRR to works after all.

The winner for me is the XBox One X version, I do not have a PS5/XSX yet. And the ONE X version is good enough ! I already downloaded the Game and I will play it tomorrow.

PS5 has Dualsense support and 2tf less than XSX but has the same performance and resolution.. The XSX has 120hz mode and VRR.

Hey, Asobo, Xbox machines have VRR support going all the way back to base Xbox One.
How about an unlocked setting for the 8th gen machines?
I have a good VRR display. I'd love to play your game at 30-40hz instead of locked at 30.

Camera motion blur is cancer. There should always be options to turn off that shit and keep per object one on.

Nah the mistake they made with the xss is making it 4 tflops. If it was 5 rdna tflops, it wouldve easily matched the 6 Polaris tflops x1x.

Instead, the nerfed it even more by giving it a low ram bandwidth.

Just a lot of really bad cost cutting decisions.

It's certainly looking that way at the moment.

This is frankly how VRR should be used in the next-gen consoles. It shouldn't be a band-aid for when your performance drops below 60fps but to improve the experience when it can go above that.

There's a far bigger difference between 60fps and 90fps than there is between 90fps and 120fps. Once you're in the 85fps+ range then you've already passed the threshold where it starts mattering less and chasing the full 120fps is fairly wasteful in this regard. Let alone when the game needs to drop resolution down to 1080p on a 4k display.

Agree and disagree.

VRR makes 50-60 fps perfectly fine. It means devs can push their titles further than if they needed to have a perfectly locked 60fps 100% of the time. For those without VRR tv's/monitors yeh you will get some frame drops, but >50 isn't really an issue if it's not just constant 50fps.

VRR just gives developers a much wider target to hit without impacting the player. It means they can push that little bit further. Hopefully it becomes the standard on all TVs soon.

And another.. game which would REALLY benefit from VRR on PS5. Those small drops would clear up completely.

I'm playing Maneater on PS5 now and while it's a great game, I hate the drops and the fact that no VRR is supported (yet). Great to have my OLED C9 waiting for that freaking update (come on Sony!!1!)

Most TVs in the last 18 months have this feature ….it’s not some exotic tech and the beauty of this is most people don’t even know it’s on unless they are looking through the Xbox settings
