Developer Sperasoft joins Halo Infinite development effort.

Your article states they're working on motion capture and level design.

Is that what they are still working on now a few months before release? You tell me. You quoted the article and whined that no one read it. I read it. It says they're doing mocap and level asset creation. Has this changed? You tell me. You quoted the article.
It just says they have been collaborating with 343i. 343i will keep updating Halo Infinite, so Sperasoft will also help with upcoming post-launch content. It is not so hard to think.

From their website, it looks like they specialise in MMO. So they might have been co-developing multiplayer with 343i from the begining.

But why?

Hallo Infinite is absolutely fine, it is just the lack of illumination.

Just turn the lights on and release!

Yeah, but it is not true, Sperasoft is working with 343 on Halo longer, infact they are working on Halo from late 2019.
I'am not kidding, Google is your best friend.

Since when is "work to do" development issues. Keep on spinning and try to move the goal post.
343i announced they have work to do here.

Negative feedback in this area includes comments around characters and objects appearing flat, simplistic and plastic-like, lighting feeling dull and flat, and object pop-in. We’ve read your comments, we’ve seen the homemade examples of retouched content, and yes we’ve heard the Digital Foundry assessments. In many ways we are in agreement here – we do have work to do to address some of these areas and raise the level of fidelity and overall presentation for the final game. The build used to run the campaign demo was work-in-progress from several weeks ago with a variety of graphical elements and game systems still being finished and polished.

By their own words, they were using assets only a few weeks old, and the game is launching in half a year.

I don't know if you're trying desperately to convince yourself or if you actually think you're doing the forum a service, but many of us are old enough to remember broken promises and mediocre videogames. The chances of a game falling flat are high. The chances of a game knocking it out of the park are low. 343 does not have the best track record, even among Halo fans.

Instead of tempering your own expectations, your mission seems to be browbeating people whose expectations are not as high as your own i.e. fanboy nonsense.

So again work to do does not mean development issues. Stop trying to move the goal post...

The persecution complex is getting out of hand. "My ilk". :messenger_tears_of_joy:

You're contradicting yourself. They announced a year ago they would be helping with motion capture and level design, but at the same time they're announcing this right now because of NDAs expiring? wtf this is hilarious.

The part about them doing motion capture and level design is the writers opinion not stated as fact, we dont know what Sperasoft is working on, the writer just assumed that because thats what they thought Sperasoft was working on with Mass Effect Andromeda s
Sperasoft also didnt announce in 2019 they were working on Halo Infinite, people found out because the internet has very good detectives.......they never officially confirmed it.
But the writing was on the wall.

You are accusing me of shit without actually reading into anything im telling you.

P.S ilk isnt a negative thing fyi, you and people like you have to spin this news into something negative......even after we have proved to you this isnt new or like they called in a new developer to help you still cant admit ohh its just announcement for something that was already ongoing, you have to keep the initial negativity going.
Do you, keep that torch burning.

In case you forgot:
How embarrassing for the Halo franchise to have third-party janitors come in and turn your turd into a retail-ready product.
Which AAA game announced third-party janitors coming in to "help" just after a massive PR failure? The field of applicable AAA games shrinks considerably.

^This is what started our train.

YOu think this discussion is still worth the effort when we have shown Spera was already working on Halo Infinite and that your second post about a AAA studio needing a 3rd party to come help isnt applicable to Halo Infinite either.

And who has been replying for the last 3 replies, convincing people how to interpret company messages? Not me. It needs so much convincing on how to interpret while the all the "You dont get it" messages have been targeted at one group(the "Sperasoft has been working since 2019" and "Sperasoft got involved now") so that the message of the other group can be more highlighted. Now that is a brand warrior.

It is speculation. One analyst says RDR2 had a 800 million budget, other analyst says 250 million.

Either way, worth it. RDR2 is a game that, frankly, is one of a kind.

There are many more impressive "sci fi shooters" than this Halo: Infinite drivel.

Instead of strengthening your argument, you just make assumptions about me. Calling in a studio to help with these things doesn't reflect well on 343, a studio with several games and several years of bad reputation. This is true whether they were called in a year ago or yesterday. My guess is they announced this to emphasize 343i's "all hands on deck" response to the fallout after their conference. Unfortunately, this also makes 343 look like they are struggling to handle yet another Halo game.

In case you forgot:

I never said Sperasoft got involved now. I said it's embarrassing to have a third party cleanup crew come in and polish your AAA product.

B but but they've been working on it since 2019.

Yeah, doing mocap and level design based on the article you linked.

Are you suggesting they are still doing mocap and level design now? If the answer is yes, that's pretty last-minute. If the answer is no, then why quote an article from a year ago if their involvement has changed -- coincidentally just a short bit after 343 admits they have a lot of work to do?

I don't even know what 343 defenders are trying to prove. That the game will be good? That Sperasoft's involvement indicate a strong, healthy development leading up to this point? I just don't know. Feels more like you're trying to convince yourself and are using people like me as your sounding board.

343 has little to do with the whole Halo Infinite fiasco.

The problem resides in MS not advertising the game as what it is: an Xbox One game that is going to be ported to the Xbox Series X. I fucking knew it in my guts that this was going to happen and that it was going to be a shitshow because of MS incompetence (or worse; deceptiveness) in explaining beforehand what the game really is. People were expecting a next gen Halo game and what we got is a barely current gen Halo.

MS, get your fucking shit together.

I specifically attack people who mention it? lol the persecution complex is out of hand. At this point I'm wondering when 'll be featured in a Discord / Meta meltdown, or both.

No, I'm not attacking people who mention they've been working on it since 2019. This is absurd paranoia. I am responding to deflections about how the studio has been doing this since 2019 (a whole year??!) as if that dismisses the concern. I am mocking a mediocre studio that has been outside its depth since it began handling the Halo brand. I am not saying anything new or novel. 343 earned its reputation.

Rather, in response to people who've mentioned they have been involved since 2019, I have pointed out that the studio is not likely doing what they were doing back then since mocap and level design aren't usually finished a few months before shipping (unless you're GAAS and the launch-day product doesn't matter :pie_invert: ). Just because you bring it up doesn't mean i have to accept it as a valid explanation for what is going on, and I have patiently explained my stance.

I have also pointed out how having a studio step in at the end in response to a bad showing is not a hard play to read. You are trying to wave away the smoke and claim there is no smell. Meanwhile, 343 is apologizing and promising to work on it. Sperasoft is stepping in. Customers are watching the behavior of these devs and judging accordingly.

Meanwhile, it's like kicking a bee hive where all I get in response are assumptions about my motives and intelligence. I've been around the block, including the Xbox meltdown at the start of last gen. I know how this circus plays out.

Outsourcing is part of AAA development.
SO you think this reflects badly on literally every AAA studio?

Thats why i think you are a negative nancy.....something that is the norm reflects poorly because its 343i thats doing it.
Does every other AAA studio also get the same scrutiny for hiring outsourcing studios.....because NO western AAA game has been developed in recent years without atleast one outsourcing studio, bigger games will have several outsourcing studios working on the game.

If what you are saying is a blanket "outsourcing is a bad look" thats fine, its your opinion and I cant convince you otherwise, but I feel I should atleast point out that size and scope of AAA games today makes it almost impossible for a single studio to get a game done in a timely manner without outsourcing.
Ubisoft has thousands of developers and they still outsource work, Naughty Dog literally develop pipelines that they send to outsourcing studios, thats how much they depend on outsourcing they devote internal dev time to developing stuff for outsource partners to use.

But if indeed your stance is outsourcing is a bad look, so be it, I wont try to convince you otherwise anymore.
Do I wish development wasnt as expensive or all consuming as it is, sure.....but games would then be smaller, less detailed or take much much longer to make.
Its a terrible state of affairs but its the world we live in, id rather have good games with outsourcing to lessen the load on individual studios than the alternatives of perpetual crunch or limited scope.

No, because you are a Sony fanboy. Not the whole community. This isn't news to you, right? I'm an Xbox fanboy, obviously, so I'll look at things with pink goggles on. There's really nothing wrong with them getting another studio to help out. But you are trying to spin it into something bad, as if the people of that studio are shit at their job.

3 months before Gold is when you throw a whole new studio in the to help out something that clearly needs lots of help? Have you ever worked in software development team/company for anything non trivial or let alone managed one?

You can keep calling me names, but this is not a company fan thing... unless the “everything is fine and perfect, nothing to see here” is the angle you are taking.

I am not saying things are doomed, just reacting to the scenario you painted: a project with rumors of people already having problems with too many contractors on board supposedly bringing army of more contractors 3 months before going Gold does not look like a particular healthy case.

Didn't Sperasoft help in the creation of the Slipspace engine?

This article is from 2019. Sperasoft's assistance isn't unheard of...

If the company had already been working on it is less of a practical concern on terms of how to integrate the resources. It just means that the current state of things is the way it is despite having a large company behind it and another large contractor studio on it for more than a year.

Also, not sure why make a new PR... still backlash after that last demo or are they bringing more people in? Just a bit confusing...

No. I think it reflects badly when the dev delivers a mediocre showing for their AAA launch title and then announces the outsourced team is coming in. I possess enough nuance to not apply this broad-brush to every studio that has ever used outsourcing because I don't think in broad, dichotomous terms.

Thats why i think you are a negative nancy.....something that is the norm reflects poorly because its 343i thats doing it.

Explained above. Sounds like you have a complex that pushes you to tone police others based on your own mind-reading assumptions. How unfortunate for you.

If what you are saying is a blanket "outsourcing is a bad look" thats fine,
That's not what I'm saying, and I have explained in detail how this isn't about outsourcing, it is about the timing and the scope.

This is going to follow the same path as Anthem, a turd will be released and it will take several years to rebuild the game. It will be forgotten soon. I was expecting going back to xbox with Halo. But not like this.

Lol they are listening
This shows that they are fuck ups, and didn't gave Halo to a proper team after Bungie jump the ship.

I'm sure there is quality talent/developers there. I really blame the leadership, I don't think they have a clear goal or objective in mind for the franchise. Outside of the merchandising, trying to make it a show, books, toys etc.

They get rid of Bonnie, Kiki, and Frankie and replace those three with people who really do have the talent and experience in those positions they will come out a better studio.

Phil just needs to be brave enough to pull the plug if not on all three then at least Bonnie.

Despite everthing said and discussed here, neoGaf is probably most level headed gaming forum. And I think that perception of Halo Infinite was improved by existence of Craig. Which is already more popular than H:I ever going to be....

My first post in the thread was on Page 3. Seems you have me confused with someone else, or you're already seeing red and everyone is blurring together.

For your sake, I wouldn't look up how many people across all of the contractors worked on The Last of Us II.
Why would I care about TLOU2? Also, did they have last-minute contractors come in? If so, that's hilarious too.

I'm pretty sure if Microsoft could delay the game one more time, they would. The problem might be with Executives not wanting any more excuses and their fiscal year needs to close with this game released. This has written a "tragedy on release" all over its face with how they are managing the project. Sperasoft won't make miracles happen in 4 months just like any rushed project they give a hand.

I already addressed this in a separate post. In that post I was addressing the statement made before that news was brought up: namely how people stated that even if it were the case they were brought up just now it was still ok and fine and dandy.

You know this, feel free to keep pretending otherwise and trying to play the mean fanboy is mean card...

Good attempt at steering the conversation away and ignoring any context. I already said that I was discussing the statements made before the news about the studio being involved since 2019 and already replied to you about that.

I wrote that post as we were discussing a scenario. The scenario some described as being fine, dandy, and all normal. But common sense and platform defends do seem orthogonal concepts and it is easier to just yell “fanboy” or post some PR article at the problem.

Nope, this is just an article now, but they've been doing this since 2019. So it's not late, they've been hired a long time ago.

Sperasoft themselves announced this as a new arrangement on August 4 (“working closely with our new partners at 343”):

Perhaps they helped out previously but there seems to be something new going on here, perhaps related to the specific “design mandates.”
