Developer Sperasoft
has this week announced it’s joining forces with 343 Industries in the development of Halo Infinite. The anticipated upcoming shooter is slated to launch later this year in tandem with Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox Series X console, and the Sperasoft has been drafted in to contribute across “multiple development mandates, developing components of the game and experience.”

Denis Larkin, Chief Commercial Officer at Sperasoft, said of today’s announcement:

“It’s an honor to contribute to the most famous FPS series in the world and to support the next generation of the Halo franchise. Our development teams are thrilled with our 343 Industries collaboration on the anticipated upcoming release: Halo Infinite”.

Sperasoft is something of a co-development specialist, having also contributed to major AAA projects such as Rainbow Six Siege, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and currently, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.

During the last 16 years, Sperasoft has grown to over 600 developers, and opened 4 offices around the world.

The timing of today’s news is interesting when one considers that Halo: Infinite’s big gaming reveal endured a torrent of backlash following Microsoft’s recent Xbox Series X presentation. It was so severe that 343 Industries felt it necessary to acknowledged it had “work to do” in order to sharpen up the appearance of Halo: Infinite.

Whether 343 Industries has brought Sperasoft on board specifically to that end or if the timing of today’s announcement is purely coincidental is unclear.

Whoa. This is extreme mismanagement and it sounds like 343i just isn't capable. "The Mythical Man Month" springs to mind here, and it must be in BAD shape if MS is taking this approach. Clearly MS knows adding new people to a project tends to slow it down and make it worse, so yeah ... Kiiiiiinda shocking.

"Buh buh buh it's an old build!" "343 is talented guiz!" "Slipspace is a next gen engine!"

We told ya'll, man, we fucking told you. Everyone should have seen the writing on the wall when this game had been in dev for 4 years and we had yet to see 1 second of gameplay. Now they are bringing in ringers to try and salvage this effort just 4 months from launch?

The only thing that can save this game is a full on delay. I would say drop the One version but that will never happen.

I have a feeling this will either be delayed or it's coming in hot. This should've just been a Xbox Series X exclusive instead of trying to make it crossgen
I don't think they were trying to make it crossgen. I think it was supposed to only come out for the Xbox One. I think if development hell (management being incompetent) wasn't affecting the game, the game would have released earlier in 2018 or 2019 with better visuals than what we have now. Bonnie Ross and Chris Lee need to get fired already.

500 million spent and they need another studio... :messenger_hushed:

450 staff and 5 years. Honestly if you can't get your shit together with that then time for a management shake up, big time. MCC, H4 and H5 all had "modules" missing the mark completely, it speaks loudly. There is no more excuses around a studio finding its feet or having to rebuild engines or assets. They've had all the technology, experience, staff, money and support any game studio could dream of. Fingers crossed this thing is playable at launch in a very stable state with decent amounts of content. I want to be wrong so badly but I know better with this studio. No one brings on third party developers and announces to the public this late in the game. Crunch contracting is very common but to go public like this after the backlash is something else. Again a little communication would go well e.g. they're porting for PC, they're testing, they're working on rendering tech etc.

This game is definitely launching in 2020. All hands on deck it seems.

Agree. I think MS is going to throw as much money/support to get it out for the launch of the Series X. My biggest fear is that I know it is going to come in hot...but the fear part is that it will be broken/issues etc. I hope that part of throwing more money/resources includes QA and ensuring the game is not busted upon release.

343 have to be the worst developer with the most money. I know people are gunning for 343 management team, but it's the Xbox management team that should be under fire for letting this happen right under their noses, hyping up the reveal of the game and thinking that footage was fire (they made it sound like it was fire before reveal). SMH.

Phil is getting that Craig side story and quests on priority!

This.

They are are clearly lacking coordination and organization. They had five years to build an engine and make the game. Yet here we are.

Obviously they have missed milestone after milestone. But the worst is the fact that management didn’t anticipate this last year and bring in the support when there was time. Appalling decision making.

Isn't this a standard for big AAA games where a lot of stuff is outsourced?

Assassins Creed Valhalla also has a lot of hands-on-deck

NXGamer said it's the same engine as before just reworked. Makes you think what the heck those guys been up to for the last 5 years.

Yeah this does fall at Matt Bootys feet too. He should have been asking the questions last year. Microsoft should never have let Rod Ferguson leave. He has proven himself a competent project manager. They should have kept him to help other studios or placed him directly under Booty (sounds naughty ).

Lol god damn, what have they been doing? I would gut their management team and put some difficult questions to Booty.

I don't think I've ever seen this before. If they're just joining now....yikes.

I'm guessing the game launches in a pretty rough state this year and 343i and co spend most of 2021 bringing the game ho to snuff.

I dont think the game will be delayed, it is a gaas game in style anyway right, so they will keep adding to it after launch for how long is needed.

Totally called it! They are enlisting more help to overhaul/fix the graphics fidelity before launch!

You totally called it huh? They've been helping since 2019, lol. Won't change much, what you saw is what you're getting.

Craig about to hit puberty

So they need a whole team to design Craig's penis?

Wow I wonder why they need that in the game.

Some Master Chief on Craig action since he can't do anything with Cortana.

Master Chief: I'm sorry Cortana we have to break up.

Cortana: But why chief?

Master Chief: They are bringing a team in to design Craig's penis so he can pleasure me.

Cortana: :messenger_loudly_crying: :messenger_loudly_crying: :messenger_loudly_crying:

Seems like every game needs a sex scene in it.......

NXGamer NXGamer did you get some insider knowledge that the engine is infact the same engine?
Because, im pretty sure 343i said its a new engine.....were they lying or were you assuming its the same engine because it doesnt look better than their last engine?

The BR mode ain't gonna make itself.

They could delay the console...so they can undercut Sony.
