Because its true?. The UK is very mych digital, and seeing a game sell a few thousand physical copies tells us what exaxctly?
All physical UK sales are used for on here are consokle warz, cheering on games doing well when we know it represents a few thousand copies.. If we got worldwide physical sales than yeah sure, but even then we would be talking 10-20% of overall sales.
True. Meanwhile the same people who do that with UK physical game sales don't even dare try when it comes to the Japanese charts, because they know Nintendo and Switch dominate that chart pretty much permanently.
I also find it a bit weird (I saw this in the Era thread in particular) that the narrative for this specific game coming in #1 is that it isn't impressive because it didn't beat Prey's numbers, and fearmongering if Arkane are gonna get shut down. It's just so
blatant sometimes.
Like, do people realize that budgets are probably vastly different between the two games, just for starters? Deathloop seems like a smaller-scale game than Prey was. Also if Returnal can be a solid venture for Sony @ 560K, I'm pretty sure Deathloop can be considered a solid commercial venture with whatever internal figures Arkane/Bethesda have considering its budget is probably not very big.
I can't see the game not turning a little profit, but all the same I don't see Arkane's fate hanging on the performance of this one single game, either. Maybe they just need to apply their type of game design to a more established, recognizable IP. I'm sure something'll be figured out.
