DEAD OR ALIVE 7 HAS BEEN CANCELLED

No more volleyball games?

I'm devastated.

I can see them making a new volleyball game for the asian market only like the last one was with english language option than a new fighting game. I hope they make both, doa is my favourite fighting game to play. The waifus is a great bonus on top.

Tekken is good and I love the characters, but it is not fluid enough, cause it still is some 2.5d shit movement wise.

Good.

Make a new Ninja Gaiden or Nioh or some new IP in that style instead of spending time on a horny weeb fighter.
I think there is a new IP.

But I wish the remake of Ninja Gaiden trilogy from NES with black or sigma engine.

What does that mean lmao?
That's the stupidest argument against doa (and there could be plenty made i.e. bullshit monetization, lack of support) ever. Like dude, stop playing xbox bro, there is a wild world out there xDD i spit beer reading that
I meant cancel culture. Devs even makes normal looking female charecters look like male(or at least unattractive) because they afraid of these people(or Ree gang I should say?). Imagine making a video game about boobs(let's "face it") while these people waiting in the corner to attack someone.

I've never been any good at these fighting games.
But I think DOA combined with Final Fantas led to the show RWBY. Some awsome fun fight scenes in there.

Oh, I misunderstood what you wrote then. Sorry. But yeah you're absolutely right.

I generally liked the DOA games. I mean, come on, what normal guy doesn't like looking at pretty women bouncing around? But DOA 6 had a move that basically ruined the game. Once you, or the opponent, initiated it (one of the shoulder buttons), it just sort of played out like a mini cutscene....it was like 3 or 4 power hits, then a final hit that knocked the opponent across the screen. Kinda cool and all, but it seemed like it could be done over and over and felt like an exploit or cheat. It really needed to be a move that required charging up to get or something, not just let you spam it forever.

But despite that, they did have a pretty nice fighting system. Sure, you could button mash your way through it, but it did have fairly deep fighting mechanics if you practiced.

Anyway, DOA7 probably got cancelled because they had a hard time making the female characters ugly enough to satisfy the woke crowd, while retaining the fanbase. I won't even get into the costume DLC stupidity.

Oh, and Hitomi was the one that I found cuter than hell.

Kind of a bummer but not surprising. The whole fiasco from that Director guy that took over and the constant switching of position on franchise staples(including tna) are not great ways to instill confidence in their product. Not to mention the absolute clusterfuck that is their blatant insult to the consumer in the form of DLC practices. DoA is my favorite 3D fighting franchise, but they've been getting progressively worse over each iteration. Especially in terms of content. What used to be in the base game would be held back or taken out to be added in later as dlc. I appreciate the evolution of the engine and character models, particularly the ladies. In fact DoA and the Xtreme Beach Volleyball games are what my girlfriend and I really connected with back in the day. Beautiful escapist fantasy during difficult financial times.

Thankfully I still have all of the games, save for the most recent browser game. I love the characters and lore, and the connection to the Ninja Gaiden series. I loved finding new moves for characters in each new game. 6's ultimate move was a neat addition, and I still love the counter/parry system. Oh yeah and the grappling is super fun. How the games mix different fighting styles is very well done. But as a prior whale for DoA, and only DoA, 6 just dropped the ball in terms of content. So few arenas, and repackaged costumes to be resold to us again after 5, not to mention fewer costumes and a few censored ones were bound to rustle some jimmies and push fans and potential costumers away. In that sense, especially taking in to account the few stages and huge grind to try and unlock in-game costumes make DoA6 a game I have fun and then get bored of quickly. It also lacks the fun stage breaking paths of prior titles, which are really fun.

I hope if and when the franchise returns it does so with its heritage intact. So smooth with some of the best animations out there in an incredibly pretty package. So many fun characters to play that all handle differently. Honoka, Nyotengu, Mai, Lisa, Brad, Tina, Jesus the whole cast are just great and a blast to play. Hopefully NG4 is really in the works and its great.

Tekken still exists, so I'm not too sad about this.

And Virtua Fighter has a real chance of coming back so, yeah, it is what it is. Still wouldn't mind another Beach Volleyball game (tho tbh I'd prefer one for Tekken or Street Fighter but that'll never happen).

Kind of a shame; DOA 2 and 3 were real powerhouses back in their day.

DOA 3 was the reason to have my first xbox, that with Ninja Gaiden were the best looking games of that whole gen.

I think there are a few other games that'd like to have a word about that. But Tecmo's OG Xbox games were very impressive, not just visually but in gameplay too.

At the very least they were easily one of the best devs on the platform when it came to showing off what it could do (Riddick and DOOM 3 are a couple other visual powerhouse games on the system).

What you are describing isn't possible, a break blow can only be done with a full 4 break gauge bars, pressing the special attack button will start the combo (fatal rush), but by itself is not enough to fill even 1 bar. So being able to do it "over and over" is not correct.
Second it's also not unblockable and you can use a hold to counter the first hit.
And most importantly, you can completely escape it by using a break hold, this uses 2 bars of your break guage.

DOA6 just wasn't fun. It was one of my favorite fighters through DOA4. DOA5 was mostly OK. Too much emphasis on making it a T&A dress up simulator killed it.
5 Was the best of the PS4 games thanks to VF cameos and it just had better gameplay. I don’t think the series is dead by a long shot but they should put it on hiatus 5 and 6 were basically the same game.

I hoped that they would make a change in direction and continue where DOA2, 3 & 4 left it, with a few modern tweaks and modes. Now I know it won't happen. I'd still rather see what DOA7 would have been.
Sad day.

Nah KOF and the others (Guilty Gear, Mortal Kombat ect.) are all 2D at heart. The only ones using 3D are Dead Or Alive, Virtua FIghter, Tekken and Soul Calibur.
And they're all on life support.
Which is a pity since they're so much better than their 2D counterparts
Tekken was on life support when Tag 2 was a complete flop, but 7 has been a huge success for them. I think it’s the best selling entry in the series except possibly Tekken 3(?)

I guess that's the thing about 6 that got to me. It was pretty much the same game as 5 and it just felt like they put it together to keep selling bikini costume packs. It felt phoned in. I enjoyed 5 at first until they leaned all the way into just selling hundred dollar "season passes" that were nothing but cosmetics.

Hiatus is a good word for it. But really I think they killed it.

Tekken 7 is the reason I pay for PS+. I love playing it online with my friends.

The last time I considered buying a DOA game I popped into Steam and planned on just buying the version with everything. That version was $145 CAD. It also didn't include everything. It was also a two year old game. After going through the 200-page guide on what DLCs are included with which expansions it was 3AM and I no longer wanted to play anything. I can always turn on the Dreamcast and play DOA2 though.

DOA 1-4 being BC on Xbox One/Series last fall made me pretty happy. I don't need a new DOA now.

What? TTT2 is my favorite entry in the entire series!

I loved it too, but commercially it did really poorly and nearly killed the series. I read somewhere that the development budget and time given to make T7 was cut because of it and that seems accurate based on how T7 ended up

Fake news source unreliable already debunked
Thanks for mentioning it.

I didn't notice the post where it shows that the twitter account was fake and VGChartz was -again- spreading fake news. I think they should go back to be banned as source. Now in addition to share fake market data also spread fake news.

The series has been dead to me.
I've missed most instalments since it jumped to Xbox.
I jumped back in with DOA5 that came to ps3, just to be greated with a main menu that has more adds than a mobile game, and a new "ultimate final edition" each year that's nether complete nor final, as it was missing dlcs, and new dlc kept coming for the years to come.
To make matters worse, they leaned away from the fun part DOA was known for.

I've skipped DOA6, and given the DLC it released, it looks like I've dodged a bullet.

Games ass just let them continue making doaxvv cause at least they'll milk that crap into the ground with none existent game play and gacha pulls.

Good...

I mean look at this shit.

Ma92hNc.jpg

461 pieces of DLC on top of a full priced game...

The only game that can compete with this shit is train simulator. This shit used to be unlockable for playing the game...
Maybe they should go the train simulator route and rename DOA6 to DOA-2022. Then every year just update the year in the title.

I loved DOA 5 because of the character design more human and less anime. Helena from DOA5 is still my favourite character. For some reason they changed her a bit in DOA6, but she was already perfect.

Right up there with "You only play it because of the boobs". We've all got real porn anytime we want so that's a stupid assessment. I remember playing the first one, in the arcade on the Sega model 2 hardware, way back in the late 90's. Shame there was no perfect port of that.
Yeah sure and there are other fighters who have the same volley ball spin off cheese cake game sure what ever you say bud.
